WR Mike Evans, TB (2 Viewers)

absolute stud, deserved HoF'r, ridiculous that he is this good for this long.

the most underrated, undervalued superstar WR I can remember.

This guy doesn't age. I traded Metcalf for Evans and a pair of second rounders in dynasty. Everyone laughed, but all I see is a HOF WR who hasn't lost a step.

As long as he is seeing the majority of targets, he is an amazing WR2. The shootouts will be there. I can't believe this guy is only 30 years old. Seems like he's been around forever.

I was a big Larry Fitzgerald fan (my favorite player) and Mike Evans I view as a spiritual successor. 1,000 yard physical receiver who has a knack for staying healthy and scoring TD. The Baker Mayfield "discount" has paid off in fantasy.

Both great players, but to me you would have to merge the "move the sticks" aspect of Godwin with the TD equity of Evans to equal the almighty Fitz.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Mike Evans (hamstring) will undergo an MRI.
Fowler described Evans’ hamstring injury as “mild,” which “bodes well for his return” after the Bucs’ Week 5 bye. Evans left Tampa’s Week 4 game against the Saints with the injury and did not return. Evans drafters can be cautiously optimistic they’ll have him back for Week 6 against the Lions. Evans is ninth in receiving yards (337) this season.

Greg Auman
Mike Evans at 143 yards and a TD today -- just his second 100-yard day this season, after 171 vs. Bears. He's up to six touchdowns, matching his total already for all of 2022.
Bobbled probably the easiest TD of his career right through his hands without a defender within 5 yards of him as well.
He’s had a few bad ones this year.

I sold Evans for a sizable return. Thought the end was coming.

He’s played at a higher level than I expected this year to say the least. Sheesh.
Baker has much better chemistry with Mike than Brady did. Once of the few (very few lol) annoyances with the Brady era.

Mike might be able to get close to or even surpass his career high yardage total for a season (1524 in 2018). Love to see it.

Drafted this champion in his rookie season, Brady years were rough but stuck with him, love seeing him flourish once again

Remember Sammy Watkins?

Just gets the job done every week for years. Future HOF. I hope he resigns with TB and ties Jerry Rice's seemingly untouchable record of 11 straight 1000+ yard seasons.

And it's great he did it before week 17 so this feat isn't questioned due to adding another game.

Speaking of week 17….I seem to recall him having a decent Week 17 last year (with Brady at QB) leading me to a ’Chip. Love this guy.

I've been meaning to post this -- wild stat was shared on Bucs' Mike Evans, that in his entire career, on plays from the 10-yard line in, he has 43 catches and 42 of them are touchdowns. Only once was he stopped short of end zone, which means he's constantly in the end zone.

So I was wondering what the one play was where he didn't get the touchdown. Turns out it's 2021, third quarter, Bucs up 35-3 on Bears, first-and-goal at the 2. Brady throws quick screen to Evans and he's tackled immediately for no gain. That's the only play.

Bucs actually came away with no points there -- they went for it on fourth-and-goal and Ronald Jones lost a fumble. Again, it's 35-3 at this point in a 38-3 win, so not a huge turn either way.

Decent 🤔
I had him and Brady. Won the championship almost just with those two.

ESPN’s Matt Bowen believes Mike Evans would be a good fit for the Panthers offense.

Bowen said Evans, a free agent, could follow Panthers head coach Dave Canales — Tampa’s OC in 2023 — to Carolina after he posted another excellent statistical season, with 1,255 receiving yards and a league-leading 13 touchdown receptions in Canales’ offense. The Panthers seem intent on upgrading one of the NFL’s worst wideout rooms this offseason. While Evans, 30, would profile as the team’s unquestioned No. 1 receiver, his fantasy prospects would be gashed by Bryce Young’s array of limitations. Look for Evans to stay in Tampa or engage in talks with a contender this offseason.

Been talking about Mike quite a bit on Bucs’ forums this morning. He’s going to be 31 when the season starts.

Not a lot of dominant WR seasons out there at 31+. I think he could be himself the first two years of the deal, but the decline could be steep and happen quickly.

To me, Evans doesn't use speed to dominate. Think he can still produce at a high level for two more seasons.

Bucs have the money and no QB on the roster right now, there is no reason to let the best WR in Bucs history walk out the door, at least not until someone is able to make a trade for him.

2020-70/1000/13 TD
2021-74/1000+/14 TD
2022-77/1100/6 TD...this was Brady at 45/46 yrs old
2023-70/1250/13 TD...even Baker Mayfield could figure it out all the way up to a Semi-Final match with the Detroit Lions...

Yeah Yeah he's gonna fall off a cliff but all Bucs fans are ready to go with him. I think he could easily glide to 35, Rice played to 42 and Evans is a 1st ballot HoF WR
RARE!

The guy bleeds pewter and red, PAY HIM! And draft one of these top 5-6 QBs to work with him the next couple of years, he'll make their job a lot easier

Penix Penix Penix...go get him, PLEASE!!!

I like Mike Evans a ton, and think TB should absolutely keep him, but 1st ballot HoF WR is a bridge too far.

In 10 years, he's never led the NFL in catches or yards. Sure, he has 10 1,000 yard seasons, but that only takes 60 yards a game to achieve. There were 28 guys who hit 1,000 yards receiving this season, I'd argue 1,000 yards isn't a sign of greatness by any means. He only has 1 season over 1,500 yards and 2 seasons over 80 catches.

There have been 7 1st ballot HOF WR's in NFL history:
Raymond Berry
Lance Alworth
Paul Warfield
Steve Largent
Jerry Rice
Randy Moss
Calvin Johnson

Hard to argue Evans is in the same league as any of those guys, and its easy to argue several contemporaries over Evans.

Side note question, what do you like about Penix, compared to Mayfield?

Check the Penix thread, I laid out my support for the Bucs drafting him

Ok, but who else has done it if it's so easy? Iirc, ONE other player inthe history of the league... And he will soon likely be #1 on that list, and not #2.

He also averages 75yds/game in his career. Beautiful.
9.4TDs a year. Lovely.
15.3 YPR... WHAT!?

I don't necessarily disagree that he's not on par with some of those names (the early ones, I have no clue)... But his dominance, his numbers, for that long... That HoF 100% (which I know you're not arguing)... But does deserve 1st ballot, and I think he does get it once he hangs them up in 1-2yrs

I'm not sure anyone is arguing against him. Also, he's a free agent so I don't really understand what you mean by "no reason to let him walk out the door until someone is able to make a trade for him." If he signs with Tampa it's so that he can retire as a Buccaneer.

He is expecting to be paid like a top 5 WR in the NFL. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but we also need to understand the landscape of the NFL and paying a player top dollar for the twilight of his career. This isn't a nostalgic business. I just wouldn't expect that level of production from him once we get into years 3-5 of this deal, and that's a problem.
