WR Mike Evans, TB (1 Viewer)

I am going to go with Slayton over Evans. I’m sure it will cost me
I'm having trouble understanding the logic to this move. Slaytons break out game was six points more than Evans top score of twenty three... Which he's gone over three times. I get the Lattimore angle but you have to figure the offense will do everything they can pre-snap to force the issue. Not to mention Evans can drop 2/2/2 game with his skills. I'm pretty sure he's done that before.

The track record against Lattimore says otherwise. That said, Evans could bust that trend at anytime and Lattimore seems like he can leave the game at any time with injury. Guy is always banged up.

This off season the Bucs got a new, and more creative OC. I expect a lot more trips bunches and motion to get Evans separated from Lattimore, especially at the goal line.

Next Gen Stats
Baker Mayfield's 25-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans was Evans' first deep reception of the season. He had been targeted 3 times over 20 air yards entering tonight.

Since 2016, only Tyreek Hill (42) has more deep TD receptions than Mike Evans (32).

Mike Evans -
Reinjures his hamstring as he stretches out attempting to catch the TD/land.
Could wind up being a Nico/Thielen situation with missed time+IR stint. Assume this has progressed to a moderate strain.

Travesty. He shouldn’t have been in the game.
In what era of the NFL are we that players don’t play if they’re a little nicked up?

He didn’t even have an injury designation heading into the game.

I’m sure Bucs’ fans (me) and his fantasy owners were thrilled he was playing when he caught a TD on the first drive.

Wasn’t so thrilled when he dropped the next one and strained the hammy of course.

I don’t mind him starting the game. But he hurt himself in the game and could barely run out there. Then he hurt it worse.

I guess? He was well enough to beat coverage on the first TD and then beat coverage again on what should have been #2. Yes, he re-injured it, but I don't know how you can know that's going to happen.

See the Godwin Thread. Bowles should have known!

jk jk guys relax!

Its Football. Guys get hurt, guys try to play hurt and hurt themselves worse all the time. Its a bummer, but thats the way it goes...every...single...year.

He was limping around after the first td. He was obviously hurt. The training staff should have stepped in. IMO

Ok. He had plenty of separation on the play where he was injured. I don't know what else to say.

While there are some pissed off in the Godwin thread that they should’ve pulled him before he got injured (I don’t agree since the game was still within reach, even though it was a long shot), when I saw Evans out there early in the game, limping around, then going out to block for a running play, I thought “WTF are they doing with this guy?!?!” Seemed like he was just a play away from hurting himself yet again. Very frustrating when I then saw the seemingly inevitable reinjury of that hammy a few plays later. Frustrating

Yeah, somehow it went from "a few red zone opportunities" to blocking LB's on run plays. Dumb.

And to be honest, the game last night was probably a loss either way. So why not sit him for divisional games or to at least give that hammy another week to rest?

Coaching malpractice.

You're watching him limping around thinking it's good to have him on there?

Even the red zone was dumb. Evans is a great player, but how useful is a gimpy WR against a good D? And hamstrings have a high chance of reinjury and he has a long history of them.

It's almost guaranteed to happen. All it takes is one little extra effort and that hammy (or quad) goes pop.

Well, he was good enough for 2 TDs thru a Qtr and a half. I agree he had no business playing on a hammy that tender.

Two?
One. He didn’t get the second because of the very hammy we are discussing.

The hammy was fine right up until the catching of the ball part. I didn’t know the two were intertwined.

No reason to debate it any longer though. This one play and the calamity that followed pretty much nuked the Bucs’ season.

Intriguing buy low option in dynasty if he's on a squad that is out of contention.

Debating putting something together so I can get him on my squad for the playoffs.

He had the 2nd one and dropped it to grab his hammy.

Yes, agreed.

Someone in my league just dropped him. Pretty sure it's a panic move and I already put a waiver claim in, but is there any news that I haven't heard?

I am assuming he is still on schedule for a post bye return.

So... Mike has at least 1000 yards every season of his career. He's currently at 335 yards. He has 7 games left this season. Bucs also have a fairly easy path to get at least 6 wins in the last 7. Let's do this.
I hope he gets it, but fairly easy wins wouldn't equate to yardage for WR

True. Maybe easy is not the right word. Mike should have his way with the upcoming defenses.

I doubt he gets it. Coen has really reigned in the downfield passing, which has been a net positive for the offense overall. Mike running those clearouts and taking defenders with him opened things up. They were humming prior to the injuries. He was still only playing about 60% of the snaps even before he got hurt though.

I expect they'll continue to lean on the screen/run game against these teams. Assuming game scripts work out that way.

Counter point, Mike is a Stud and Baker will feed him

Don’t think your snap percentage is accurate. He is in the high 77-82% for almost every game besides one before injury.
