WR Mike Evans, TB (5 Viewers)

Debating benching Evans this week. He certainly seems to be starting to click with Winston, but I worry that V.Jax's absence will hurt more than help him. Truffant is solid enough to begin with, and if they throw another defender at him, it could be a long day.
Mike Evans is a plug and play. Just like AJ Freen, Demarcus Thomas, etc. Do not even look at who he's playing.
Hmm....

He'll be fine, ATL has been grinding the clock like crazy so far, Tampa's barely had the ball. Which is ironic because of the ATL turnovers but it's true.

Same injury? Thought I saw him grab his ribs or something. Wish he was in there to catch a game winning pass.

His fantasy impact was disappointing today, but his impact on this game was immense. He's such a mismatch, there have been 3-4 big PI calls he's drawn today that put the Bucs in position to win this.

Oh good to hear. This guy is a true difference maker, the numbers just weren't there this week. Bright future for the Winston/Evans combo, he tosses it up for him with no concerns.

Save it for the bucs forum.....this is a fantasy football site....immense impact on the game doesn't mean squat to most here. 3 catches for 48 yards does.

Every player has bad weeks, guy. If the rest of your team were good enough, you'd win anyways. As it stands, you'll probably get emotional about it and bench him next week, where he'll drop another 30 points.

he can't seem to put 2 good games together. i think he is coming out of his funk and start him, then i get this. im going to bench him till he shows me 2 games now. still not dropping him lol

I don't own him, guy. I was in here because I was playing against him and mulling over starting the ATL defense.

You want to see emotions, go back and read Page 11 of this thread, before the game.

I realize some of you are talking Dynasty and I would pretty fired up about him too if that was the case....unfortunately in the small area I live in nobody plays dynasty FF.

Good luck.

Yeah. Love him and see him growing into a consistent top-5 WR but he drops a lot of catchable balls. Dropped 3-4 today, and that's being generous about another 1-2 that you could maybe call drops. Could have had a ridiculously huge game, dropped an easy 50+ yard TD that hit him in the bread basket with the DB on the ground, could have turned and run all the way to the end zone untouched but choked.

He's really not that good. Put him on a team that doesn't have to throw him the ball 10+ times a game and he wouldn't be producing for fantasy.

He's extremely good. Freakishly so, actually. He's just dropping balls he shouldn't be dropping. The rest of his game is on point (as you can see from what he does with the ones he catches).

I loved him coming out and still think he will be great, but catching the ball is a deal breaker for a WR.

Yeah he's a stud. Top 10 WR for the next 5 years in dynasty if he can stay on the field.
ODB, Julio, Brown, AR15, Sammy, Dez, Thomas, Hopkins, Green, Benjamin, Cooper, Jeffrey, Cobb, Hilton, Allen. It seems like there are about 16 guys in the running (not counting any of the future NFL players) for top 10 WR status over the next 5 years. Evans is no lock.

To keep things in perspective, it was raining like hell most of the game. Even Odell Beckham was having a heck of a time catching the ball.

He has two things you can't teach. Size and speed. You can teach a guy to catch better. Try teaching one to be 5 inches taller.

Yeah Evans is at worst the 4th or 5th WR taken in dynasty right now.
What WRs you have over him?
Antonio, Julio, Dez(with Romo) and Hopkins?
Beckham? Cooper?
them too. Hard to rank them. All pretty close. I'd throw Keenan Allen in there too
Kind of my point, I always hear people say Evans is a top 5 dynasty WR, but I don't see this big difference between him and a dozen+ guys. It's a pass happy league and lots of WRs are poised to put up huge stat lines over the next 3-5 years.

Here's what Mike Evans had to say about his drops

It's frustrating of course, but I'm a man. I can take it," Evans said. "I've got to bounce back. I proclaim myself to be one of the best receivers in the game, and I'm not showing it. So I've got to be better for this team. I'm going to put in the work and I'm going to come back."

Winston's play has gotten so much better, I think Evans floor has been raised considerably because of it. Can he be a buy low and a sell high at the same time? Guess it depends how you see him rest of season
