WR Mike Evans, TB (3 Viewers)

I pray, pray, pray that this brings Baker back to early season Baker. If I lose this week (and I have no options other than Baker), I’m out. No way am I doubling down and also playing Egbuka. I’ll scrape the bottom of the barrel before I get that desperate.

Word of caution to everyone

-Activate is different than starting. I understand most know the difference but at this point this week with a game tonight/tomorrow, I'd like to see Evans perform for a week first
I understand it's the Playoffs and some probably are out of options but I'm not sure even an active Mike Evans is much more than a decoy so Bucky and Egbuka and maybe Godwin can exploit and pounce on the Falcons.

Atlanta is way overdue for a victory, I have some doubts after the Bucs dropped a game they should have won

Thinking about it for FBG Bowl playoff team (yes, look at me). Other options are Moore, Mooney, Kupp, Pittman, Diggs. I need 3 out of this group + Evans.

I scooped Big Mike off the ww to stash for next week….maybe. I too want to see if he plays first, and how he plays if he does

Hmm... maybe Diggs has a 2nd "revenge game" in him for this week?
Yeah, didn't mean to turn this into a WDIS. I'll need a couple from this group.
Sure you meant to :). Not judging however. Moore, Diggs, Evans if he’s active.

Evans vs Mooney or Fannin in Flex. Not sure where to go with it...
I know Sanders just killed it last week and Fannin was a big part of that, plus he's been a legit start regardless, but FWIW they're talking about -20 F in Chicago this weekend. I have no idea what to make of that but seems important. We've seen huge passing games in cold weather before. I haven't seen if wind is expected to be a big factor there at Soldier Field on the lake, but am presuming the -20 includes wind chill and that it will matter. That said, with Ford out and Sampson banged up and I think they just signed some scrub RB... Fannin could get some real action in the backfield. Hard to say no to that. Even if Evans is 100% it is possible the coaches hold him back. But I can't see starting Mooney over Evans I don't think. And they both play tonight so you'd be committing to Fannin. I think I'd go that route myself but watch Evans dominate the red zone packages and grab two TDs on 4 catches for 50 or something.

Mooney, for whatever reason, has not done jack this season when key elements of the offense have been out of the lineup.

He's impossible to trust.

Anyone else staring down an Evans vs Egbuka decision for tonight? With Higgins' status still up in the air, I feel like I need to start one of them. But man, I don't know. Could easily see them easing him back in, but it's not like Egbuka has been killing it lately either. Also worth remembering that the Mike Evans we saw earlier in the season was not MIKE EVANS. He topped out at 56 yards and had a pretty poor catch rate. Was that just a small sample, or a sign that he's on the road to washed-dom? And of course, those were the games where Egbuka was showing out. Maybe he was benefitting from Evans' presence? What does it all mean? I have no idea

I’m looking at Evans vs. Pittman. Leaning Evans because of old man Rivers vs. Seattle on the road.

I think the bigger question for TB is Baker…..he’s not been 100% for a while now, and the results on the field show that.

That said, I would never count out Baker or Evans if they are on the field together. They are at home. They have a lot to play for. I expect some level of fireworks tonight. Egbuka is due as well. I dunno man, it’s a tough decision. Maybe a coin flip really.

Todd Bowles stated this week that the plan is for Evans and McMillan to be limited in their returns. I’m not convinced Evans will be fully held back, however, if he shows well early in such a consequential game. Evans historically has Falcons top CB A.J. Terrell’s number, while Terrell is having a miserable year, ranking 71st among 109 qualified corners in PFF’s grades. I’m starting Evans where I have him in season-long leagues. … The Falcons have conceded the NFL’s 11th-most fantasy points to wide receivers, while Godwin and Emeka Egbuka are the two safest bets for snaps in Tampa’s wideout corps. Their touchdown odds lowered a bit with Evans back, Godwin and Egbuka check in as passable WR3/flex options.
Per Evan Silva’s matchup column on Establish the Run.

I’m starting both Evans and Egbuka.

Why would Evans be on a snap count, he's recovering from a collarbone no? Seems like either it's healed or its not. I'm not saying he's not on a snap count but it isn't like this is a soft tissue injury.

considering starting both evans and egbuka in my FBG home league quarterfinal matchup. Also considering starting just Egbuka. Also considering starting just Evans. Also considering starting neither. Also considering handing the mouse to my cat and the keyboard to my dog.

Man, now I have to figure out if I need to start him. I have Lamb, who is not yet cleared and JJ who has been doggy doo. I guess I can always sit Breece Hall or Devin Neal who are in my flex.

In the exact same boat and don't really know what to do yet. I haven't liked what I've seen from Baker and TB in a while so hesitant to play both Egbuka and Evans.

Hoping HIggins plays, but have some marginal starters playing to plug in Sunday like Worthy, Boutee or Neal if he doesn't.

Leaning Egbuka right now. Other than the week 10 vs. NE, Egbuka has been pedestrian to bad since Evans went down week 7. Can't help but think part of his struggles have been assuming WR 1 role without Evans there. Was comfortably outproducing Evans playing WR #2 the first 7 weeks. Godwin and McMillian playing make it muddier though, especially for targets. Another reason I don't really want to play both.

This is what Chris Harris of Harris Football calls a "Type 2 question". Type 1 is things like, is he good at football? We can evaluate the film or whatever and make an informed decision.

Type 2 is things no one actually knows, like, how will they use him in his first game back? I mean, I suppose the HC knows, but there's no need for him to tell us.

So yeah, the question of whether to start Egbuka or Evans is entirely dependent on a factor that none of us actually knows. Which means it's a coin flip. Go with your gut, or what decision will leave you with less regret if it backfires. But either way, don't beat yourself up over it.

The team I have him on is one I co-manage with my 10-year-old, so I've decided I will let him make the call. He doesn't beat himself up over bad decision, so whatever he picks, if it works out, it works out

This is the way. Like I said, whatever will lessen your regret if it goes wrong

BTW, you can't even go according to rankings, because many of them (including all of the aggregators like FantasyPros) don't fully reflect the knowledge that Evans is definitely starting

FWIW all the signs with Lamb have been good so far. Things could obviously change, but that's probably something I would factor in (ie, "I'll take my chances with 80% likelihood of Lamb and 20% of Hall or Neal", or whatever you estimate the probabilities to be.

My problem is that if I sit both Evans and Egbuka and then Higgins sits as well. I've burned three of my WR options and Tet is the only one left on my roster, so I'd have to pick someone else up. And unlike Lamb, I think Higgins is unlikely to play

Slotted in at WR3 at the moment but that may change.

Starters:
QB Maye
RB Bijan
RB Cook
WR Slim Reaper
WR Watson
WR Evans
TE Fanny Pack
Flex Chase Brown
Flex Hunter Henry

Bench:
QB Goff
RB Rodriguez
RB Monangai
RB Wright
WR Worthy
WR Franklin
WR Dike

Worthy maybe instead IDK.

Not totally shocking and the reason you shouldn't be benching him for a clear WR2.

"Somewhat of a pitch count" actually sounds not so bad.
When I was 23, I got a job offer that would have required me to move to a new city. I was agonizing over the decision, and then my roommate's girlfriend said something that has changed my perspective forever. "I don't think you should take it. Because I don't think you want to take it." And I realized she was right. My dilemma wasn't deciding between the two options. It was whether I could make peace with the decision I wanted to make.

In a similar vein, news reports like that one don't influence your decision -- one could easily interpret it as positive or negative about the choice to start Evans -- as much as they reveal your subconscious preference. My advice is to ask yourself what that news tells you about which way you're leaning, and then go with your gut.

It’s also just a report by Jeremy Fowler, who may be plugged in, but no one knows for sure what the game plan is and the Bucs’ coaches certainly aren’t going to divulge it.

Fwiw, draftkings has Evans at +180 to score a td... Better odds than Godwin or White. Also seem like it's close odds at 4 rec/40+ yds. So close to 8ppr and possibility of a td (35% per chatgpt). I'm starting him over Reed and maybe D.Smith...
