WR Mike Williams, Retired (1 Viewer)

Nice, I was looking at Calvin Ridley hoping I could get Williams + a flex level RB. I was also looking at Waller for a similar offer (weird keeper league where I have Kelce and there are several flex spots).
Ridley is an interesting option but I might not do it straight up let alone throw in a RB (assuming you are talking redraft). You can argue that Atl is so bad there will be lots of garbage time stats but the Chargers are a good team without much of a running game or a goal line hammer. If they are winning it's because of their passing game and Williams is looking more and more like the prime red zone, goal line guy.

Beyond the nice target numbers, which I think may not be sustainable at this level (but will still remain high), it's how the Chargers are using him near the goal line that really has me so high on Williams. Herbert really seems to trust this guy to go up and get the ball in big situations too.

Looking like a league winner so far. My only caution is in dynasty where he could land in a much worse situation in 2022 if he's not extended prior to becoming a UFA. Contract year motivation... I'll likely look to sell high in the one league I own him but I have the luxury of insane depth at WR.

Valid.

My comments are strictly redraft based.

Yeah I’m talking redraft. Obviously you are really high on Williams but I am also sure there’s lots of people who remember Ridley as a top 16 pick and think he’s a great but low and/or who think Williams is a sell high. FWIW, Fantasy Pros consensus still has Ridley ranked higher ROS.

Of all the years I've had this guy on the end of my roster or scooped off the wire, of course he blows up the one year I don't have him. Always liked the talent but it just never worked out for him (injuries, etc.). Congrats to all who have him this year and enjoy.
I drafted him in a salary cap/auction league as a rookie and he's in the last year of the initial contract. Before the season started, I looked at him as a potential cut if I needed cap space. Now he's a weekly must-start until further notice.

What are you looking to trade to acquire him?
To start I will try, to give up a lowend WR2(Robert Woods or Courtland Sutton) and most likely add in Kareem Hunt in hopes he closes the deal and make the seller feel good like they got a deal from me when I add in Hunt.

Thankfully, my league mostly is on messenger and we are connected, helps us not fret too much about proposals. I'll either get a guy who knows what they have or is still not sure about Mike Williams is the main takeaway. My philosophy is it doesn't hurt to ask.

But just now Field Yates just said he is a set it and forget it top 10 receiver. Act fast, the word is spreading...

If I was hurting at RB and deep at receiver, which I am, his trade would have my attention.  Woods & Hunt

But I probably still wouldn't pull the trigger.

Just gave up D.Montgomery and a 4th for Williams in a keeper league.
you robbed the guy  blind, you should be brought up on charges.

Montgomery ?😂 that guy is a lesser RB , C. Patterson is even better than him right now. I had Monty his rookie season, got tired of the Trent Richardson 2.5 yards and a cloud of dust schtick. a 4th pick included? so what you made out like a bandit.

Got him for $325/1000 on FAAB prior to week 1 in an FFPC dynasty league. It was a maiden SF if that makes any difference. Nice get though.

Yeah Herbert and Williams' offseason work is paying off nicely.  They actually had quite a few barely missed connections last year that would have boosted his TD total. They are more in sync this year.

The biggest concern with Williams is injury.  He has had disc issues since he came into the league and he throws his body around quite a bit. He landed awkwardly just this week and had to come off the field.  I thought he was done,  but he came back.

Yeah, injury is absolutely a huge concern.  For me that clouds his value in dynasty, but in redraft I'm rolling the dice.  Herbert to Williams is real deal in 2021!

Anyone who still has Ridley ranked higher than Williams should lose their fantasy "pro" status.

Well it’s the majority of “experts” then.  Or at least was as of a couple days ago. Ridley is ranked as WR14, Mike at 16. Ridley hasn’t been great but I will say he’a got more of a track record, is getting a lot of targets, is getting a massive share of the Atlanta air yards and is top 3 in RZ targets. The issue is they aren’t using him down field. That seems like something that can be fixed.

Atlanta can't be fixed, at least not this year.

Ridley is a stud no doubt but Mike Williams at #16 feels criminally undervalued ATM.

Mike Williams caught 1-of-4 targets for 11 yards in the Chargers' Week 4 win over the Raiders.

Justin Herbert missed Williams on what likely would have been an 82-yard touchdown in the first half when Williams torched backup CB Damon Arnette off the line and had multiple steps on him only to see Herbert badly overthrow him down the right side. The two later tried to hook up again on a deep shot, but Herbert was pressured and sailed one out of bounds. Herbert's four targets were tied for fourth on the team. The Raiders appeared to stick CB Casey Hayward on him a lot of the night. Williams will bounce back and remains a WR1/2 in fantasy ahead of a Week 5 date with Cleveland.

went in so confident trailing by 15 with both waller and williams last night and lost..ugh.  Herbert missed him on that long td though so that's promising

I think it was Ekeler and the TE's (Cook and Parham) time to eat. Raiders weren't able to stop any of them. Bounce back next week for Allen and Williams.

Hard for Mike Williams to eat when 1) Herbert misses him on a couple of long attempts, and 2) easy to see that LAC gameplanned to attack the linebackers/nickel corners with the TEs and RBs, and 3) LV couldn't stop the run (Ekeler looked phenomenal last night).  Even Keenan Allen had a quiet game since most of his catches were like running plays.

He should rebound but maybe he isn't the WR1 that we thought he might be.

Hayward effect.... Those guys all know each other so well.... Ive hooped with Casey, Mike and Keenan on the same team before... and believe it or not Casey Hayward is more ball dominant then both of them and he sucks at hooping .

Bad game through no fault of his own. He was missed on 2 deeper throws and wasn't targeted much because of the game plan.

This sounds about right.  It reminds me of the time Michael Jordan, Bugs, and I had to defeat the Monstars and save the Looney Tunes.

Casey is really short… can’t shoot… Keenan is solid but doesn’t play any defense and Mike is decent…at least he can dunk… I forgot to mention Derwin …he was really good… I guess add Elmer Fudd to your team now…btw can u guess which 2 of those players smoke like Cheech and Chong ?

I gotta wonder on some of these games: how does a guy who has been destroying everyone for four weeks as wide freakin open as he is on the 2nd TD today? I've seen more totally blown coverages this year than in a long time it feels like.

What a shift in value for MW and his dynasty stock. The talent has always been there. He needed to stay healthy and get more targets. It helps Herbert is tossing him passes. Stay healthyyyy

Mike Williams caught 8-of-16 targets for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' Week 5 win over the Browns.

After Williams' lackluster one-catch Week 4, he predictably rebounded against Cleveland, working over fill-in CB A.J. Green after Denzel Ward went down with a neck injury. Williams' touchdowns were 72- and 42-yard bombs. Nobody even covered Williams on the 42-yarder. The 16 targets mark a new season-high on a day Justin Herbert threw 43 passes. Williams has seen double-digit targets in 3-of-5 games and has six touchdowns on the year. He has at least 82 yards in 4-of-5 outings. Williams will be a WR1/2 next week against the Ravens.

Knee swelling is never great, especially when you already have an injury history and you're 6'4" 220 lol

Ask John wall and Westbrook!

Would lean toward Williams sitting, based on "hopeful to play" and a bye week next week.

Agree. As a Chargers fan, if it would help him at all to recover better for the rest of the season, I'd prefer that he miss the game this week and not even make the cross country trip.
