WR Nathaniel “Tank” Dell, HOU (1 Viewer)

Tank was a bystander in a crowd that a 16 year old started firing at. Bouncer disarmed the kid and he was arrested.
That bouncer likely isn't paid more than about $15 an hour, big time bravery stepping up and disarming the 16 year old
Tank Dell is extremely lucky that bullet didn't do some real damage
This kid is starting to scare me, injury last year shortened a sensational rookie year, now the shooting, hope he drives around town carefully.
Tank is burning thru his nine lives quickly

@32BeatWriters
"Tank Dell looks great for someone who was involved in a shooting and suffered a wound due to said shooting... It is great to see Dell dicing up defenders as usual. Dell didn’t do all the workouts but when he was on the field, he was successful."

my goodness, the amount of open field this cat is gonna see this season... i might be a slaughterhouse out there

For those that don't know, the bullet hit him in the back of his leg. I couldn't find if it was the same leg he broke or not.

I really struggle with him.

I think Nico really earned his stripes down the stretch, and is the most obvious outside WR of the trio.
Diggs is the big name, and they're probably going to feed him early and often to keep him quiet.

I would assume Dell winds up as the slot guy, but maybe they run Diggs out of the slot.

Either way, I don't think the path to tons of targets are there. Not in 2024.

31/32 attempts per game from Stroud in his rookie year... "Lowish" numbers, that I expect to increase a few digits.

The opportunities are there, and most importantly the quality of those attempts will be there. #3 coverage on Dell is like the heavens opening up. He couldn't be stopped when he was getting 1/2 coverage.

it`s going to be biblical

I statted out Stroud for 35 PA per game. Dell was on a 17g pace for 142 targets in his 8 starts. He and Nico both have a great connection with CJ. Big believer in both.

How Diggs fits in the distribution is one of the big mysteries of the offseason. I figure two of them will be Top 24 WR and hopefully Diggs continues to have an ADP between the two. I think Tank is the best value. I know the popular narrative is Stefan’s WR6/WR7 production over the back half was bc of the OC switch. I’m dubious he stops the slide/decline but I could be wrong.

Like all three tbh - def targeting HOU QB/WR in redraft. But there is uncertainty about who plays outside and who sucks up the market share.

One thing is for sure, Nico rarely leaves the field as the undisputed X and I believe he offers the highest floor of all three.

I think Tank has a little boom/bust vibe, but I have no doubt think he will cash in some big weeks. Biggest question will be consistent production.

Love him for Best ball '24 but as an every week starter where you have to set your line-up every week, not as much
Up-DOWN, Up-Down, gonna drive some FFM nuts this season

In a best ball redraft anyone taking him over Flowers, Cooper, Pickens, Rice?
I think the way the legal winds appear to be blowing, I'd take Rice of that group. Probably could make an argument for any of the other 4 after that.
Me. I like Rice better, but ADP wise I draft Dell around the 3rd/4th turn. Rice in the 5th (was 6th but rising)
Flowers, Cooper and Pickens I have lower on the list than the other 2.

Best ball WR exposures have Rice #1 at 36% Dell #3 at 16% (double field).

Nico Collins (WR2) and Tank Dell (WR60) won't end anywhere near this far apart in fantasy.

Collins is fantastic, but Dell is also a great talent and his 86% route participation is barely behind Nico (88%).

Dell is one of the best buy-low targets in fantasy.

Right now their target shares are 28% vs. 17%.

I will be shocked if it isn't more like 23% vs. 21% by the end of the season given how much the team is using 11 personnel on passing downs.

Dell owner here - very frustrating lack of targets thus far but the fact that the Texans are involving him in the running game gives me reason to believe they know he needs touches. At 2-0 no reason for huge changes but it wouldn't surprise me if a focus the next couple of weeks is getting Tank more involved.

I'll be starting him.

Got a guy trying to really dump him on me in a dynasty. I need WR help. But this guy is currently WR57 when Stroud is QB11. Nico WR2 and Diggs WR22 (PPR). Just don't see a way this guy has value this year.

Buy low right now after the Bears game. They have one of the best secondaries in the league. This passing game is getting ready to take off.

Think the biggest problem has been pass protection. I feel like they're looking to hit some deeper big plays to him, but inside twists and stunts are really giving the OL fits. He and Stroud also seem a little bit off. Dell also had a bad drop on a broken play that possibly could have been a long TD against Chicago. Sure hope some big plays are coming... that drop probably cost me a game last week.

Vikings are probably a top 3 defense right now though. Doubt this week is much better.

When Diggs was added it started to confuse things

Option 1 -Nico Collins - Not just leading in targets with 18 but he has produced a lot of yds and TDs with his catches
Option 2- Diggs, he has 6 targets both weeks, I would expect a few more when they are not leading the entire game...also not sure CJS understands how to utilize him just yet
Option 3, Dell and he has 11 targets thus far, just missed on a couple of them or his stats would be better

-I don't think the Texans have any big plans to make Dell their #1 WR option
I also just point to massive size difference in Nico vs Tank Dell, they are NOT doing the same things on this offense
Nico has his role and everyone seems comfy with him as the lead WR

Injuries would shuffle things around but right now Dell is a Boom/Bust Wr3/Flex most weeks
Diggs will be more steady but have a definite ceiling most weeks, Dell could pop off for 100/2TD with just 3-4 catches

My take so far

I feel Houston is basically running Collin’s into the ground lol. He’s just so unfair out there but that’s a lot of work for a big dude and to also take the big hits he does, plus run block.

Dells time could be coming as the Texans will need to take to the air but they will be easier to defend with mixon hobbled as mixon is great at keeping things on schedule

Vikings defense has been pretty insane with pass rush so I’m not sure how many deep shots will be there! Still starting him though I think

The T. Dell buy low window closes come Sunday.

I'm trying to get him now.

He very well may be boom/bust but if I can get him for a WR3 or WR4 cost, that works for me.
Any reason behind this? @ Minny vs Flores doesn't seem like a cakewalk matchup
Collins has put the league on notice so he's probably going to command more coverage. Plus there is still Diggs doing work. Eventually Dell is getting his, and I have to think Stroud will want to get him more involved soon. That's considering he has 11 targets to Diggs' 12 despite the lack of production. Dell is probably going to be high variance this year (as he was at times last year), but he can win your week when he does get involved.

Not looking good moving forward
Yeah- confused on what to do going forward. He basically did nothing all game and Davis Mills kinda saved his line. But going to Nico Collins 4 times in the red-zone, and 0-4? That is beyond ridiculous lol

12-15% target share is really not going to get it done. Think he's glued to my bench going forward, can't cut him though.

Minnesota's defense was the real story and star of the game though. Looking like a juggernaut.

The Diggs effect. I think CJ is afraid to not throw him the ball.

No joke :tfp:

I 100 percent agree.

With this cover 2, figured they'd find some daylight with Dell underneath, not even a thought

Oh you mean this in the sense that CJ seems like a quiet guy and now has loud mouth Diggs in his ear threatening to yell if he doesn't get the ball.

Well, that ain't helpful is it? lol

Diggs had a nice PPR day but was it difference making? He's a rich man's Tyler Boyd at this point judging by the receptions and stats and metrics.

The other alarming stat from yesterday,

  • Tank Dell played in three of a possible 19 snaps in two-receiver sets, costing him 11 pass plays.

As discussed prior to the season, Diggs was probably going to eat into Dell's snaps and production while leaving Nico alone as the only X in this offense.
Was that the discussion prior to the season?
Not in this thread.

I didn't see too many sell recommendations on Tank anywhere.

What are people buying with dell? Talented second year breakout wr who actually already broke out? I think you could sell that- reality right now is much different but I’d be hesitant to sell him regardless. If anything he is a buy but don’t feel you’ll ever get to buy him low

Still holding and starting. That's not saying much because injuries have made it where Dell is basically my WR 2. Need something to break soon. Maybe a humiliating loss will shake it up.
