Per Overthecap he had injury guarantees in 2020 and 2021 in his contract but not past 2021.

Regardless of the vid, stuff like that happens. Kenny Golladay wasn't being targeted by Daniel Jones and he threw a fit on the sidelines. But you work it out in practice and get on the same page. You don't have your dad post a vid on Instagram showing that 'my son isn't getting the ball'. Reminds me of the Golden Tate III situation last year; Tate was suspended a game and eventually released by the Giants.
Also as it's been said, it's a ball control, run-heavy, pre-post snap read offense where he's NOT the #1 receiver; Jarvis Landry is. Baker has no need to force balls to Odell, which is seemingly what Odell's dad wants.

As many have already said no one was going to take on that contract.
I'd be willing to bet the Browns brought up option of covering most of his remaining 2021 salary, similar to what Broncos did with Von Miller. I guess whatever meager return they could get for doing this was just not worth it but even if it was just like a day 3 pick it sill seems to make more sense. Which also means maybe they could not even get that.

Without looking at any cap situations, a few more suggestions:
Packers - probably an upgrade over MVS and Lazard
49ers - with Aiyuk out of shape or in the dog house or whatever, they could use another weapon next to Samuel
Falcons - they don't really have a starting wr on their roster with Ridley out. And surprisingly not that far out of the playoff race.

It’s kind of a sad situation. I remember thinking this guy is the faster version of my all-time favorite WR Jerry Rice. I really believed it. Maybe it was the Giant fan in me being partial. I was so upset to find out Gettleman punished him by sending him to Cleveland. He went from NYC to freaking nowhere. The dude was depressed and even went off social media for a few months. Now I am at a point where I believe that he is another diva WR that has become poisonous. It’s best to stay away from him. That’s the sad part. I still have his #13 Jerseys in my closet.

Seems like bluffing to try to get him to lessen the financial impact. Why waste a roster spot and spend more money just to spite the guy?
As I understand it, anything another team pays him after being cut lessens the hit on the browns. That's probably only the vet minimum, but that's still close to $1m, right?

I don't understand this. Pascal is basically worthless. OBJ may be as well, but there's also the distinct possibility he ends up in a much better situation by the end of this week. Why not wait that out before making a move?

Agreed. He could end up in Green Bay or KC - both of which would benefit greatly from having him if they can figure out how to fit him under their caps and he would become an every week starter and difference maker by week 10. Ravens, Saints to a lesser degree. Anywhere is better than where he was. After watching the video his dad sent out - which was a ##### move but...he was open a lot and Baker didnt look at him ever.

He would fit a QB who can adapt to a free lance WR like Brady was able to with Randy Moss who didn't jibe in OAK because he would change the depth and pace of his routes but he flourished with Tom. If he does his patented concentration drops then Tom would freeze him out but he's the guy off the top of my head who would fit his game.
Maybe an arm talent like A-Rod or even Josh Allen. I think Russell Wilson could make a viable deep combo and the guy in KC could be magic. Not sure what interest or cap consequences but he has a 'slight' chance to land on his feet.

With the Calvin Ridley news and the ability of Arthur smith to craft a game plan, Atlanta seems like the best fit. Green Bay, not so much (the first time he alligator arms a pass from Rodgers it would be all over). The saints with all their wr troubles seem to be a nice match but my dark horse is the Las Vegas raiders.

Any of those would be good fits I think. Say what you will about the guy, he gets open. The video his dad made also impressed in terms of the Browns' OC designing roll-outs to play into the strengths of Mayfield. Baker's just got limited vision and/or ability.
With A. Brown's injuries in TB, he'd fill a need on the Bucs.

Great breakdown Bracie. I'm wondering if we're overrating the football situation though? Is the key to unlocking OBJ again the location more than QB? Somewhere he would simply feel better about life and enjoy himself more off the field?
I wonder if he would thrive with the Raiders, Saints, or 49ers simply because of that vs. the ideal offensive situation. Ideally he'd have both, but is he going to be any happier as the #3 in Kansas City or living in Green Bay or Buffalo?

If its all about location then he had the top social media following of any NFL player in NYC.
IF all he cares about is location and fame then he will give back some money to ensure his release from the Browns and cut a cap-friendly deal and reap social media rewards of playing in the Big Apple.
What he 'should' fear is Baker Mayfield blowing up without him going forward as he refuses to give-in with his contract and the Browns hold him hostage till next March. Absolute worst possible outcome for him. He really should smell the coffee, cut a deal, get his release, and latch-on with who or whatever he's after because he'll be thrown into a hellish limbo if he doesn't.

it’s a fair question, but I doubt he’d want to go to the Giants or Jets. IMO winning is part of it. Players want a shot at a ring, and OBJ is no different.
And to be fair, his dad’s video was heavily receipt-laden. A couple of those clips were off-base, as either OBJ wasn’t actually open, or Mayfield was getting crushed simultaneous to OBJ getting open. But some of the misses were really bad, and at least a few would have been walk-in TDs - and either Mayfield didn’t see him or made an errant pass.
I feel like playing with a competent QB & getting his numbers is important to OBJ, as it it to many NFL WRs. I’m not excusing his sometimes petulant nature over it, but there’s probably more to it than location/lifestyle. NFL WRs are rarely the “lunchbox” type players - they want theirs. And Baker Mayfield has been more miss than hit.
He’d likely be the WR2 in KC, and yes, 3rd target behind Hill & Kelce, but that would give him a better shot at a ring. That would probably be worth something to OBJ.
Las Vegas would be a solid fit. I’d love to see the Niners pick him up, but they’re not winning the SB with or without him this year, IMO.
BUF is an interesting idea, but they aren’t really hurting for receivers.

I don't know their salary cap space remaining for this season but they probably couldn't take a hit beyond this season and that would be assuming he would sign with them for a minimum hit. There is also the issue of his shoulders which a few people have mentioned.

A receiver being open when he's the 3rd option (or was the 1st option but wasn't open in that window) isn't some conspiracy against Beckham. Do some of throws by Baker look bad? Yes. I think I understand this right, but if I don't someone else redirect - if the Browns cut him then he can sign anywhere else for the minimum. The salary cap doesn't matter for anyone making the minimum as long as whoever they cut to make room for the minimum salary does not carry any dead cap. For cap purposes that transaction is essentially a pass through that nets a $0 charge. I assume every team has several of those no dead cap types to choose from.

If he gets claimed off of waivers, the new team picks up his current contract (and same thing if he had been traded). If he clears waivers then he is a free agent, and Cleveland is responsible for his old contract, but the new team can negotiate any kind of contract they want, including paying league minimum. Whatever the new team pays is deducted from what the Browns would still owe.
As a veteran with enough years, he might not have to go through waivers - not sure what that threshold is.

I thought parents in high school who contacted coaches complaining about playing time or wanting to play a different position was silly, but a millionaire having their Dad make a video...come on man. I am embarrassed for the entire Beckham family. I can't imagine another NFL team wanting that headache. GM's probably thinking I would like to have the talent but is OBJ isn't targeted enough is he going to have his dad post more vids about our team.
