WR Rashee Rice, KC (5 Viewers)

KC Homers - does he look fully recovered from the LCL injury from last year?
Not a KC homer but in this day and age of information that’s an antiquated outlook to rely on IMO.

In answer to your question he looks good to me but NOT fully recovered to Dr Chao and his staff who I respect more then any other medical opinion but they are not scaring me off.

If you’d be willing to share some of these comments they’d be appreciated by more than just myself I imagine 👍🏼😁

From the article, which was published on Aug 20th:

Rice is coming off a significant left knee injury last year, a torn MCL and hamstring tendon, which ended his season in Week 4. Recent video coming from Chiefs training camp revealed to our team of doctors that he is visibly favoring his left knee

I believe that report came from August 12th? I am a chiefs fan so I am biased but at this point, you have to take into account that he’s not coming back nearly 2 months.
And nothing against your posts, you weren’t saying to avoid him but Rice has looked great in the clips shown to the media.

If you have your starting WR’s and he’s on your draft board, I can’t imagine you would want to pass him up.

Article was published on Aug 20th, tweeted out on Aug 21. His original video diagnoses might have been done on the 12th.

Correct I am not saying to fade him. But do I think he’s 100%? Probably not IMO but not enough to worry about for me since he’s probably not far off and has won’t be playing in a game for 7 more weeks, 8-9 weeks after this report.

Respect you as a poster and opinion on these boards, but this source I am questioning on two major fronts...

1. MCL and hammy tear? WTF. I had read all offseason it was LCL, with straightfwd 💯 recovery. Hammy tear?!?

2. And he's limping now? Favoring = Limping IMO. Why haven't we heard this from any other source? Even once.

Calling B.S. until I see more definitive proof than the opinion of Sports Injury Central on Twitter.... MenoB, help us out, since you posted them...

Is this a legit source? Why do you take their word?

He's my WR5 (behind Chase, Thomas, McMillan and Devonta) after he lasted to the end of round 8 in my local 10 teamer last night. I had half forgotten about him and it seems my league mates did too. That said, it figures that after reading he's healthy all off season, 12 hours after I draft him he apparently is not. Typical :ROFLMAO:

The site is mainly Dr Chao, who was an actual NFL team head doc, for the Chargers, for almost 20 years and is currently a practicing orthopedic surgeon.

IMO he’s the best injury source that has existed in this space but it’s not quite as good as it used to be since he hired a team to help provide analysis. Still the best though.

To the point I don’t know why people listen to anyone else and certainly not randos on the net.

Regarding point 1. Actually a lot people thought all off-season he had an ACL. Since October this site, Dr Chao, had reported he had a hamstring tendon surgery and LCL. So it would appear they did get something wrong since they are now saying it’s his MCL. But unlike most they never thought it was an ACL and have always been aware of the hamstring surgery.

I don’t about point 2 because I don’t pay attention to anyone else.

You may believe what and who you wish sir, I’m just passing on info as asked from what I consider the most reliable injury info source I know and only one I’ve paid any attention to in years.

C'mon man...
Easily because Dr Chao's past has a long list of issues. Unsure why FF people listen to him.

While people cite that he was the team doc for the Chargers and that is true, the documented history shows a long history of litigation, over-prescribing pain meds, multiple DUIs, partying at a club while his surgery patient is in recovery having complications, and resigning from the Chargers just as the only 2 hospitals he had surgical privileges with barred him from further surgeries. Some may add his possible participation (excessive Ambien prescriptions) in Junior Seau's condition before suicide. Also, the prescribing the use of his own (side hustle selling) devices is a conflict of interest and caused direct patient harm.

The good news is he survived an NFLPA investigation and a DEA investigation. Bad news was that those official organizations thought he did enough wrong to investigate.

If a poll asked the common person what would make a 'bad doctor', he hits a lot of the responses people would say.
After reading those, who would have their family member go to this guy as their first choice?

Back to the normally scheduled Rashee Rice topic - sorry for the interruption.

None of this is news to me or relevant but as I said you follow who and listen to who you want. I know good info when I see it.

I was asked to provide a link and I went out of my way to that. If you want to debate him vs some twitter rando go kick rocks. I'm not here for it.

I thought Rice appeared to be moving without limitation in limited action this preseason. There was no noticeable limp. Rice gets an additional 6 weeks of recovery, for what that’s worth, and I expect he will have no limitations once he returns, other than perhaps being eased back in his first week back.

This is the 1st i've heard he's less than 100%. Everything until now has been he's fully healthy.
Fading injury optimism generally does not yield unfavorable results, this guy is also away from the team for 6 weeks. I don't understand why Rice is still being drafted so early.

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of clips of rice, and haven’t seen the limo either.

Also the injury description is odd - this is the 1st I’ve seen of “hamstring”. I have my 2 shares. Glad he’s getting 6 weeks of rest & rehab. Here’s hoping boredom doesn’t equal stupidity.

I didn’t get him in my main local, so now, I am filled with righteous indignation at his actions. I say “Harumph” from atop my moral high horse.
I, too, missed him in my home league.

Were it not for my 2 dynasty shares, I would be there with you, tut tutting him & on my morally superior high horse.

That said, we’ve established that I’m completely shameless as I did indeed draft him (start-up) & trade for him (dynasty), so I shall not bond with you over this.

Rather, I will hang my head in shame over my own weakness. I love FF points. It’s a sick disease.
:sadbanana:

Sleepers ADP is very high. He fell in my draft and I took him in the 8th round after I had 3 WR’s. It was just a bonus he was still available. A few people in my situation also could have took him but passed.

When one has a serious leg injury, other leg problems have a tendency to surface while recovering from the original.

Not everyone is sold on the Chiefs passing game this year.
I was sold on it last year, and it ruined my season.

I expect this yr to be an improvement.
Worthy has another yr under his belt, Hollywood Brown is going to play, Kelce looks motivated (I expect this to be his retirement yr) then Rice comes back healthy mid season

drafting Worthy at 9.02
How?
Well... We use MFL

And I already took Jameson at 8.09
I've done like 8 drafts and I've never seen him go later than the 6th. Nice value on both. I have that pair in a few leagues.
Super flex league and only 10 teams. Lots of people drop in that format. It's also PPR and I think that, likely depresses the value of both.
Yep, that ‘splains it. :hifive:

It’s nice to look at him on your roster, and think about the best case scenarios, but once we get into bye weeks and guys are missing games due to injury it’ll be tough to hold him for 6 weeks in leagues with shallow benches.

If you can sustain through KC’s bye you’ll be golden.

I think you are mostly right, but it is a glass-half-full view.
Playing devil’s advocate:
There is pressure on Worthy now to be the 1, at least to start the season.
Hollywood is already in the training room.
Kelce is another year removed from his prime and still plenty of off-the-field distractions.
Rice will be returning mid season not only from injury but suspension. How long* will it take for him to hit stride?

The pressure was on to be the WR1 to end the season and Worthy responded extremely well to that.
I read somewhere (sorry don't remember where) that at the end of the season when Worthy caught on he was running more of Rice's routes vs. the ones he ran for most of the year) and that is why he took off. Does anyone that follow the Chiefs know if that holds any water? I had been eyeing Worthy but that comment at least made me think twice about where I would consider him. Could totally be some bogus person on Twitter that has no clue so don't want to be scaring anyone off him but would like some clarification if possible from people that follow the team more closely.

Not a chiefs homer, but I’d seen comments about that period from Mahomes saying they liked to use Worthy on the Tyreek routes.

Maybe @ChiefD can shed more light on all of this.

Hell, I don’t know.

To me Worthy got better as the year went on because by the end of the year he knew more than at the beginning of the year.

Reid’s offense is complex. Go back and look at Tyreeks rookie year vs Worthy.

Worthy is gonna ****ing eat in this offense. Especially with Rice gone. Once Rice comes back watch out because Mahomes won two out of the last three Super Bowls with turds out there.

This offense is gonna be sick.

IIRC things worked out really well for Walter, right?
Are we speaking like, karmically, or metaphorically here?
Again, it's been awhile but... Is there a difference?

Okay, he saves Jesse from slavery to white supremacists, that he put him into, after he directly/indirectly killed both of his girlfriends (and poisoned the kid).

Also, indirectly kills Hank.

And, crashes an airliner.

Oh, and is the biggest meth producer in the American southwest...

...Y'know, the more I think about it Walter feels like a strong reference metaphor for Rashee.

Please continue.
