WR Ricky Pearsall, SF (1 Viewer)

A video posted by a bystander on twitter shows Pearsall walking to the ambulance - so it appears to not be nearly as bad as it could be. Thoughts and prayers for his full recovery.
Great to see him walking out on his own power
Tough SOB. If it were me I would be curled up in a fetal position sucking my thumb.
User name doesn't check out.
Yeah, that’s kind of like calling Brett Fave soft.

😿

-Totally unnecessary, releived Pearsall walked away with his life, I never want to be shot in the chest, he's lucky to be alive

I've visited San Fran many times, used to run around Union Square in the early 2000s, Mrs and I enjoyed exploring the city and Golden Gate Park
Hope things turn around at some point

Glad he's alive, football doesn't really matter right now but I understand why investors and GMs are concerned about the outcome here.

Sadly, these stories do not even shock me anymore. It has come to wearing something like a Rolex in areas where you can not guarantee your own security, which is just not worth it. I don't own anything like that, but I remember the days when I had to avoid certain brands of shoes for the same reason. People were shooting people over shoes and starter jackets.

Ricky Pearsall’s mom, Erin, posted on Facebook that the bullet entered Pearsall’s chest and exited his back without hitting any vital organs.

Looks like he had a guardian angel looking over his shoulder Of lesser importance, they might just redshirt him this year.

That would be wise and take all the pressure off him and the team for now.

-Hard to discuss anything beyond that or what the Niners next options would be, seems inappropriate this morning.
This isn't an on field injury, a violent act was committed against him, could be some mental shock that will take time to heal.
I cannot imagine you get selected 1st Round for a team fresh off the Super Bowl.
You get the call, you are excited for the start of the season, huge expectations from fans and media, you go to an autograph signing and BOOM you're life is forever changed

Hard to understand what he might be going thru although observers say he was very alert and quite upbeat for someone who was just shot in the chest.

Glad Pearsall is going to be ok. Crazy how he hasn't been picked in any of the drafts I've participated in; several WRs after him are regularly drafted.

MOP, you and the Mrs are far more safe in San Francisco than in Miami. Enjoy the City and Golden Gate Park knowing you're safer there than you would be at home. (y)

Was not taken the other night in my Redraft either or others leading up to it.

He was dropped in my redraft this AM ... but I think he was like 16th round pick but still ... glad he will be ok physically, and hope the emotional/mental side does not hinder him.
But as Ferris Buehler says ... "Life moves pretty fast"

He hasn't really been drafted anywhere in any of my leagues

more people talking about cowing at this point

Lived in SF for over a decade....not surprised.

Union Square was one of the coolest areas of any American city....it has drastically changed the past 5 years.
So you lived in SF for over ten years, and you think Union Square was recently one of the coolest areas of any American city? Maybe I've been missing out but I don't think Union Square is among the top 50 coolest areas in SF. If you enjoy hanging out with tourists and shopping in overpriced stores, then I guess it's right up there with Fisherman's Wharf.

It sounds like Pearsall has been released from the hospital. What a bad ***. I'm buying.

One of my daughters moved to the SOMA area 4 years ago. She's only had 1 incident, a crazy homeless lady swung a suitcase at her legs as she passed by. Homelessness and property crime are high - you can't leave even a water bottle in the car. But violent crime against people, assault & murder, isn't high compared to other major cities. Things are slowly changing for the better in SF as voters elect officials more responsive to safety and education (algebra!) concerns.

This incident reminded me of Sean Taylor who was killed by a botched home robbery attempt in a nice neighborhood south of Miami. Normally, a bullet to the chest is more dangerous than one to the thigh. Taylor was unlucky, he bled to death because a bullet pierced his femoral artery. Ricky was very lucky the bullet didn't do more damage. I hope he makes a full recovery and plays in the NFL soon. I hope the thug goes to jail for a few decades.

In my 14-team league last Saturday, Jennings, Cowing, and Pearsall went undrafted, because CMC, Kittle, Aiyuk, and Deebo. Jennings just got paid too, Cowing looks good, and Pearsall's been injured.

Guy takes a bullet through the chest, doesn't need surgery, released from hospital next day.

KeepTraceCut's response: value drops from 4000 (WR45) to 3400 (WR57).

Makes sense!

A couple doctors speculate that due to how quickly Pearsall was released his recovery will be closer to "weeks" vs "months"

49ers place WR Ricky Pearsall on the reserve/non-football injury list after being shot in the chest during a robbery attempt on Saturday. Pearsall will miss at least the first four games as he recovers.

First four games isn't bad, if that ends up being true. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't more. If it were me, it would have ended my career as a Senior Programmer / Data Engineer. Oh wait, I'm wanting to retire next June anyway :)

Dang HMO's
.
Miracle that he wasn't hurt worse. Hope he does make a full recovery.
It would be such a shame if this has an effect on his career beyond just missing a few games (or this season).
I can't imagine he should be taking any hits this season.
I'd like more info about the turd that shot him.
Has he done this before? Is he being charged for attempted murder/ manslaughter? Will he be tried as an adult?
What are the extent of his injuries and how soon can he go to jail?

It was clearly self-defense. Pearsall posed a philosophical threat to the guy's existence by denying him the right to "equity".

But seriously, yeah, I'd like those answers as well.

Dude is built different!! 💪

Ricky Pearsall was back at the team's facility on Monday, working out in the weight room just days after being shot in the chest during an attempted robbery.

The teen suspect in the shooting of 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic weapon and attempted second-degree robbery, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said. State law prevents Jenkins from charging a minor as an adult, but she said that if her investigation reveals the teenage suspect should be tried in adult court, she would request a judge rule on transferring the case.

I love this guy. Unreal stuff. Someone supremely talented with this type of heart and desire to play the game will almost certainly have success in the NFL.

Now stay off the streets young buck. San Francisco, Oakland, or any other cesspool city surrounding that area don't deserve your attention.

"During the hearing, a San Francisco probation official recommended that the teenager, who is from Tracy, Calif., ultimately be transferred to San Joaquin County, where he has another “pending matter” in the legal system."

So the turd has had at least one other incident with the law.

Teen Charged in Ricky Pearsall Shooting
BUT HIS PARENTS SAY HE'S REALLY SORRY
"Look at this picture of him! He is just a sweet, innocent kid. (Yeah, the picture is from when he was six. What about it??)"

Ricky Pearsall is watching practice with 49ers T-shirt and cleats on, grabbed a football off the ground, high-fiving teammates, showing no impairment from his gunshot wound to the chest

Just looks like a guy that wants to play ball and he can’t for at least the first four games (video below)
