WR Ricky Pearsall, SF (1 Viewer)

@32BeatWriters
“Ricky Pearsall can get open. He’s been slowed by a hamstring injury and hasn’t had a ton of team reps with Purdy. He’s absolutely not ready to step into a starting role. He’s not replacing Aiyuk this season. No way.

But the first-round pick runs his routes like he expects to get the ball every time. And if Pearsall keeps cutting into the open area as sharply as he did on Wednesday for a pretty touchdown pass from Purdy in a Red Zone drill, Purdy’s going to start expecting that, too.”

Most of Pearsall’s targets are contested. He’s struggled vs. press—specifically Lenoir

It’s early but he’s not separating within the structure of the O. Not the way Jennings & Conley are. I’m not giving him credit for a catch after 5 seconds when Purdy scrambled. That’s not real

Jennings seems like a sleeper this year if Aiyuk ends up getting traded (I still see that as unlikely but there's some more noise about it lately). Pearsall does not look like the right skillset to replace what Aiyuk does on the outside and at the line of scrimmage.

49ers WR Ricky Pearsall won't practice this week, which means that he also won't see any preseason action in his rookie season.

Just my read: Seems unlikely that Pearsall will be active Week 1. He's made nice plays in training camp but the shoulder injury has cost him valuable integration time

That's gotta be so frustrating for the 49ers to burn a 1st Rounder on a guy who you want to be the replacement for a guy you're in the middle of a contract negotiation with. They still likely have no clue what exactly they have with this guy, doesn't seem like he has practiced much AT ALL.

Way to immediately ingratiate yourself with your new bosses by costing them leverage with their star WR.

Uh oh. @MikeSilver on KNBR:

"Pearsall...has a shoulder thing that is now recurring and I think worrying over the long haul - something they knew about before they drafted him and were hoping wouldn't be a thing..."

Why haven't Kyle or John been asked about this at a presser?

Per SFPD: 49ers Ricky Pearsall was shot through the chest in a robbery attempt over a Rolex. He was headed to a signing event on Geary & Market. There was a struggle for the gun. Both Ricky & the suspect were shot. Both parties stable at SF General Hospital.

Easily could have been a RIP thread. I would venture to guess that most people shot in the chest don’t live, if I heard that correctly. I’m late to the party and it’s the first I’m hearing of it.

Jesus Christ. Can't even walk down the street in SF any more.
It’s a horrible place. Sad for a once great city. I hope Pearsall is OK considering the seriousness of this.
It sounds like he's going to be okay, thank god. Despite what you may have heard, San Francisco is not a horrible place at all - I should know because I live there. I walk down the street every single day and never have a problem. It's not perfect but for my money it's one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I don't intend to ever live anywhere else. Maybe come visit and check it out before you call it horrible? It is a major city in America however and these things happen unfortunately.

I have visited and I agree it’s a beautiful city. However, it has gone down the toilet the last decade with crime, drug use and homelessness. Are you ignoring the encampments? I did hear Newsome is trying to finally clean some of this up, which shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Don’t pretend SF hasn’t gone down the crapper the last few years.

I don't want to derail this thread but you are wrong. I'm glad he's going to be okay, period. Good luck this season.

Take it to the PSF. No one here cares about your SF hate.

I bet Pearsall does

Apparent video of Pearsall walking to ambulance after getting shot in what looks like his chest.

Very lucky it wasn't worse. Hopefully grazed the chest and not through it.
Not that I know obviously, but I read “through the chest”.
If so, what a bad ***. Not many places through the chest where you would be in a huge amount of pain or bleeding everywhere. Looked like minimal pressure being applied and he was so chill looking around getting into the ambulance. One would have to think they would have to sew something up and he'll need some down time.

Per Twitter:

San Francisco mayor London Breed, SFPD police chief William Scott and DA Brooke Jenkins will address the media today at 7:30 PT from San Francisco General Hospital regarding today's shooting incident involving 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall

A video posted by a bystander on twitter shows Pearsall walking to the ambulance - so it appears to not be nearly as bad as it could be. Thoughts and prayers for his full recovery.
