WR Robert Woods, PIT (1 Viewer)

Robert Woods caught 6-of-7 targets for 35 yards in the Rams' Week 4 win against the Giants, adding one rush for two yards.

Woods and the entire LA offense had a down day against an abysmal Giants defense. With the Rams dead set on running a conservative, run-first attack, Woods' volume will be depressed unless game script goes haywire. He'll be a low-ceiling Week 5 play against the Football Team.

Robert Woods caught 4-of-10 targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the 49ers.

Woods scored the Rams’ first touchdown on a 10-yard pass in the back of the end-zone. He was held in check after that, and dropped a would-be 66-yard TD near the end of the fourth quarter. Woods has been as consistent as ever this year, going over 100 yards or a touchdown in 5-of-6 games. He gets a matchup with Chicago on Monday night in Week 7.

Robert Woods (groin) did not practice Friday.

There's belief that Woods will still be able to play on Monday Night Football against the Bears, but Saturday's final injury report will fill us in. When healthy, Woods has operated as an underneath target in coach Sean McVay's run-heavy offense. Woods has maintained WR3 value despite the decreased volume of the entire offense.

Robert Woods (groin) will play versus Chicago on MNF

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods

(groin) got in a limited practice session on Saturday but will be available to play Monday Night versus the Chicago Bears. (Lindsey Thiry on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Woods did not practice for the majority of the week due to a groin injury. Still, he practiced in a limited capacity on Saturday, indicating that he'll be good to suit up for Monday night's contest against the Chicago Bears. Fantasy managers should keep Woods in their lineups as he is currently WR19 in FantasyPros Week 7 WR expert consensus rankings.

Robert Woods caught 3-of-5 targets for 22 yards in the Rams' Week 7 win over the Bears.

He added 23 yards on four rushing attempts but fumbled away one of those that was easily scooped up by Eddie Jackson and returned for a short touchdown after Woods was blown up in the backfield. Woods hasn't had a 100-yard game since Week 1 in this run-dominant offense. He and Cooper Kupp have devolved into weekly WR3 plays ahead of a Week 8 date on the road at the Dolphins.

Robert Woods caught 7-of-8 targets for 85 yards and one touchdown in the Rams' Week 8 loss to the Dolphins, rushing two times for nine yards and an additional touchdown.

The Rams are committed to this whole handing off to Woods thing, who is on pace for a career-high 32 rushing attempts. He's already matched his previous career total with two rushing touchdowns in 2020. Woods' 85 receiving yards were his most since Week 1. He ran a touchdown in from four yards out in the first quarter and caught an 11-yarder in the fourth frame to account for both Rams touchdowns. The Rams get their bye now ahead of a Week 10 date with the Seahawks where Woods will be an upside WR2.

Robert Woods caught 5-of-6 targets for 33 yards in the Rams' Week 10 win over the Seahawks.

Woods' floor remains higher than most on the WR2/3 border, but ceiling weeks have been few and far between with the Rams opting for a run-first approach in 2020. Woods does get involved on sweeps around the goal line at least and continues to do all of the dirty work to keep the offense moving along. Jared Goff has a tough test in Week 11 against the blitz-heavy Bucs with LT Andrew Whitworth potentially lost for the year. Woods will be a rock-solid WR3 then.

Robert Woods caught 7-of-12 targets for 80 yards in Los Angeles' Week 12 loss to the 49ers.

Woods was open for more than seven catches but could only watch as Jared Goff fed Richard Sherman and the sidelines for a handful of miserable off-target throws. Woods still led the team with a 38.7% target share and has now seen double-digit targets in back-to-back games. He'll be a fringe WR1 (along with Cooper Kupp) in a salivating matchup against the Cardinals in Week 13.

Robert Woods caught 5-of-8 targets for 32 yards in the Rams' Week 14 win over the Patriots.

Woods "added" -1 yards on a rush. With the Rams flattening the Pats on the ground, Woods had his worst performance in a month, letting one of his missed connections get ripped away for a Myles Bryant "interception." Woods has still managed to post five receptions in six straight games, and continues to draw more looks than Cooper Kupp, who had only five this evening. The Rams' passing attack will be able to do more against the Jets in Week 15. Woods will remain a high-floor WR2 for the fantasy semifinals.

Robert Woods was sidelined for Wednesday's practice with a thigh injury.

Woods was on the field for 78% of the team's snaps in their Week 14 win over the Patriots. It's a long week of preparation ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Jets, so it would be surprising if Woods is ultimately sidelined for the game. Check back on Thursday and Friday for practice updates.

Robert Woods caught 6-of-8 targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Rams' Week 15 loss to the Jets, adding a 40-yard rush.

Woods was one of the few Rams came to play, digging out a low throw on Jets CB Bless Austin to tally a 15-yard score in the third quarter before adding a 40-yard carry on the next series. Woods has caught at least five passes in seven consecutive games, including 5/33 in Week 10 against Week 16 opponent Seattle. Woods will maintain high-end RB2 appeal for the fantasy finals.

Robert Woods caught 4-of-8 targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in the Rams' Wild Card win over the Seahawks.

Woods was left uncovered on his dagger 15-yard score with 4:46 remaining. The Rams' passing attack, which was just 12-of-25 this afternoon, is going to be needed for much more in the Divisional Round, likely vs. Jaire Alexander's Packers. Woods could also be in for a massive target spike if Cooper Kupp (knee) can't go. As of Saturday evening, it seems like Kupp will play.

Robert Woods caught 8-of-10 targets for 48 yards in Los Angeles' Divisional Round loss to the Packers.

Woods again led the Rams in targets (129) and air yards (1,169) in 2020, matching a career-high in touchdown receptions (6) while rushing for 150-plus yards for the second time in the last three years. He’s quietly accrued at least 129 targets in every season since 2018, suiting up for 47 of a possible 48 regular season games in that span. Although Woods has consistently averaged a 23% target share from Jared Goff the past three years, it’s possible the former sees a slight uptick in volume for the 2021 season since Josh Reynolds is likely to land elsewhere in free agency. Woods will inevitably be tied to the hip with Cooper Kupp in offseason rankings, but it’s Woods who remains the more valuable option between the two in a vacuum moving forward.

Robert Woods caught three of six targets for 33 yards in the Rams' Week 3 win against the Bucs, adding one rush for five yards.

Woods was again an afterthought in the Rams' high-powered passing attack. He was barely Matthew Stafford's third option behind Cooper Kupp and DeSean Jackson against a banged up and ineffective Tampa secondary. Woods' fantasy relevance is in question even as LA lights up opponents through the air. Fantasy managers in 10-team leagues could probably do better than Woods next week against the Cardinals. He's still playable in 12-team formats, though he has no ceiling.

If Woods doesn't perform as a WR2 this week, I will be officially disappointed. The over/under of this game is 54 points. Woods has a good track record against ARI. Still, I'm not starting him this week(starting Hunt instead), but I'm also not looking to trade him away- I'll go down w/ the ship since I still believe.

If I didn't have him rostered already I would say this might be the last buy low opportunity, but its more of a risky gamble based on if Stafford really never intends to throw to Woods, but I think its prolly just best corner on Woods right now, WR variance swinging back a bit or scheme related. No one really has an answer except for this breakfast narrative...

Anyone else going to start Woods this week?

Starting Woods (no AJB or Higgins) and expect him to put up good numbers this week.

Not liking what I'm seeing of Woods' attitude. Seemed to be sulking after Kupp caught his first TD in week 3. Didn't go over to congratulate Kupp after either of his TDs. For a team that has it's head coach running down the tunnel to congratulate DeSean Jackson, that's not a good sign no matter how you look at it.

Tyler Higbee time?

Haven’t watched any of his games, and I see he is still ranked pretty highly rest of season, but I keep wanting to pick up Brandon Aiyuk, who was dropped this week in my redraft league.  Someone with more knowledge of Wood’s situation want to chime in?

that seems to me reading WAYYY too much into stuff. Woods has been a steady vet presence for the team... despite all the panic most of the numbers are still very positive ... he runs a ton of routes, his snap percentage is still high, he gets 1-2 sweeps a game and his aDoT is still very good. There are going to be Kupp weeks, Higbee weeks, and Woods weeks in the future; historically 2020 started out very similar in that Kupp was dominating early and tapered off as the season progressed. Not saying the same will happen but there's an adjustment period offenses and defenses go through.

Have Woods in two leagues - starting him in one out of necessity (3WRs and 3 flexes so he's better option than Gabe Davis or Russell Gage), but benching him for Waddle in the other.  Definitely not drop-worthy but I'd really like to not have to start him right now...

Finally a sort of "squeaky wheel" situation for Robert Woods. We saw a similarly disappointing fantasy WR in Robby Anderson get fed more/high quality targets after his head coach said his team needed to get Robby the ball more, and hopefully this leads to a resurgence for Woods. It's worth mentioning (shoutout to FF Reddit user dimambr3 for this info)

Robert Woods in 2020 thru 4 games: 26 targets, 19 catches, 229 yds, 1TD...8 rushes, 65 yards and 1 TD

Robert Woods in 2021 thru 4 games: 25 targets, 17 catches, 172 yards, 2TDs...4 rushes, 15 yards, 0 TDs

What’s changed this year though is the emergence of Van Jefferson, who himself was a highly drafted (2nd rounder) and earning his opportunities.

Which is what I wrote in that FF thread also. The thing I'd say is the team realizes they do need to throw the ball to Woods more and historical precedent still favors the idea that there will be alternating weeks from multiple players/teams will key in on Kupp eventually.

EDIT: Also, Stafford keying in on 1 receiver isn't new; although Calvin Johnson and Cooper Kupp are different animals Stafford has never been afraid to relentlessly feed a guy a ton of targets. However he's also spread the ball around a lot at times also; I feel like he's got a shiny new toy and he's going to keep doing what has been working until defenses react or he starts having less success.

i didn't expect it to be Kupp, but this assessment is spot on imo. but then i held on to Woods knowing it definitely wouldn't be Woods, he just didn't fit the mold based on the players Stafford had in Calvin Johnson and Kenny Golladay in size and style of play. i still believe Woods won't be the forgotten man forever, but it doesn't look like woods will sniff even lower end WR2 numbers for the season.

Maybe it's just me but all the talk of McVey planning to get Woods involved seems like a trap tonight? No choice but to roll with him now that Calvin is out. :suds:

I've got him on the bench again.  I want to play him but just can't trust him right now.

Robert Woods caught 12-of-14 targets for 150 yards in the Rams' Week 5 win over the Seahawks.

[An] afterthought to Cooper Kupp's voluminous workloads [this season], Woods' squeaky wheel finally got the grease this evening as Mr. Bobby Trees nearly doubled his previous 2021 production. Woods was getting open at will over the middle of the field, ripping one hole after another in the Seahawks' unimposing defense. His big night came even as Kupp still managed a healthy 7/92. The Rams are going to need both wideouts cooking at once, not simply trading off. Now having more than stabilized his WR3 floor, Woods can hopefully resume his drive for weekly WR2 status in Week 6 vs. the Giants.

Maybe the Rams can figure out a way to keep both involved in each game going forward and then sprinkle in some Jefferson too.

I think this was absolutely a component, but I think the defense was a bit focused on Cupp which opened him up as well

Legit the same thing has been happening for 2 years; you get Kupp games, Higbee (Everett when he was there) games, Woods games. The reason we saw so many Kupp games is Stafford's arm talent is so much better than Goff''s he could fire balls to deep all day regardless of coverage; he didn't have to make the shorter/intermediate zone beater throws to Woods or Higbee. I would hope Stafford learned just how talented Robert Woods is and will remember to get him involved also. This offense can support 2, maybe 3 fantasy passcatchers; no reason Woods can't be one of them.

Hayden Winks @HaydenWinks

Robert Woods is averaging 0.8 fewer screens and 0.8 fewer carries per game this year. aDOT is up big, but the gimmes touches are down because they don't need them with Stafford. Makes him way more boom-bust.
https://twitter.com/HaydenWinks/status/1450996338477318145

I tried to doublecheck this, but didn't Robert Woods say in an interview he asked to do less of that stuff this year? I mean WInks is right; Stafford's arm and talent means he doesn't need the protect the QB screens and WR rushes as much as Goff did, but I thought Woods wanted to do less of that also.

Robert Woods caught 7-of-10 targets for 98 yards in the Rams' Week 9 loss to the Titans.

Woods was a bright spot in an otherwise uninspiring offensive performance for the Rams. In fact, he actually had more yards than Cooper Kupp, notable considering the historic season Kupp is having. Woods hasn't quite lived up to expectations fantasy managers had for him in August, but he's still generally been a solid option. Consider him a WR2 or flex option in Week 10 against the 49ers.
