Very decent shot he ends up with 100 yards.Has already done MUCH better than could have been expected.
3 for 80 final stat line in his return, including a demonstration of his deep threat ability on a 50 yarder down the sideline. I am satisfied.
Not sure why. It is very common for teams to give some players an extra day off from practice.Ok... this made me laugh.
Not for a guy who's practiced twice in 11 weeks. This dude needs the reps to get up to game speed and conditioning. His coaches and he have been saying this. He's not the "vet who's been working hard for 12 weeks on the field and needs a day off" - there's absolutely nothing good nor typical about Watkins missing practice today. Not sure why. It is very common for teams to give some players an extra day off from practice.
Don't be obtuse, Chaka. There's no way to spin today's news as good given Watkins injury history this season. The only way I'd have him in my lineups this week is if he returned to practice tomorrow and made it through the remainder of the week without setbacks. Not sure why. It could be a bad thing that he is missing practice if the report is true that this was not a scheduled rest day and he was pulled from practice early with foot soreness. Not for a guy who's practiced twice in 11 weeks. I am not spinning it as good or bad. Frankly I am shocked at this response. Does everyone panic every time a player misses a Wednesday practice?Don't be obtuse, Chaka. In my mind, there's something much larger at play going on. Watkins already came back to practice with the caveat "I'm not going to go out there unhealthy". I think he knows he's not 100% and isn't going to be this season maybe ever.
It didn't say that. It said he was expected to be limited in practice. Instead he was DNP - that's a significant downgrade. It could be a bad thing that he is missing practice if the report is true that this was not a scheduled rest day and he was pulled from practice early with foot soreness.

We're talking about Sammy Watkins foot and you're wondering why people are alarmed? This isn't a player getting a scheduled rest day. This isn't even a player with a run-of-the-mill injury getting a scheduled rest day. According to Rotoworld he wasn't scheduled to have a rest day: "Watkins was fully expected to be a limited participant in practice, but the Bills held him out entirely" "...after feeling soreness in his foot" A foot that's kept him out for 8 of 12 weeks this season!Wait, is that he is experiencing foot soreness or the team is giving him rest as a preventative measure? The former is actually worrisome news in terms of Sammy ramping back up and getting off a snap count. The latter, not so much.No practice today. Foot soreness.
Twitter report said he was scheduled to be a limited participant but when practice started they decided to hold him out after he said the foot felt sore.Wait, is that he is experiencing foot soreness or the team is giving him rest as a preventative measure? Yeah, for me especially with T.Y. and Tyrell also dinged.Thought this dude would help relieve the sting of losing AJ Green. Ugh.

I'm with you. I'm not going to get too worked up over "soreness". I'm sure it's expected to be sore. Now, if he doesn't practice the rest of the week... Then I might start to worry.Okay, push the button.
Go nuts.
I'll wait until after Friday's practice before joining you.
How is that not someone's handle by now?Braktastic said:I'm shocked you're shocked! We're talking about Sammy Watkins foot and you're wondering why people are alarmed? Oh, he'll play. I'm not concerned about that, but I am concerned that the removal of a snap count won't happen if he continues to be sore.Grigs Allmoon said:I'm with you. I wish I had this confidence. If he doesn't practice tomorrow, my freak-out factor will be an 11, with concern that they just shut him down. If the report is true, that he was supposed to practice, and didn't due to foot soreness, there is no way to put a positive spin on this. He sat all these weeks just due to soreness, don't forget. There was no further damage to his foot, he was supposedly healed... just sore. Last week, the claim was that his foot was 100%, he just needed to re-condition. I would think any renewed soreness is horrible news.Oh, he'll play. I'm not concerned about that, but I am concerned that the removal of a snap count won't happen if he continues to be sore.
I wish I was as confident as you that he will play. But I am less concerned about the snap count. He did a lot of damage on 25 snaps last weekOh, he'll play. I'm not concerned about that, but I am concerned that the removal of a snap count won't happen if he continues to be sore.
Shhh, you're draining my half-full glass.I would think any renewed soreness is horrible news.
It can't really be viewed as anything other than concerning. The question is "to what degree?"I wish I had this confidence. How's that now?Shhh, you're draining my half-full glass.
Actually, I totally agree. I just think MIA can't afford not to have him out there, even at <100% (which he clearly is).
This is a team that has won their last 6 putting them in a solid shot of a wildcard spot. They can't afford not to have him in unless he truly can't play.
That's what I'm sticking with, anyway.
I'd rather he sits than he plays limited snaps or is a decoyI wish I had this confidence. No. He's a bust because he was a high draft pick who has not contributed to fantasy success and made it more difficult for those who drafted him to make the playoffs. So, he didn't practice today. You guys calling him a bust yet?
Really? That seems strange to me -- that if you think he plays, he will get full complement of snaps that he did when he was 100%.I wish I was as confident as you that he will play. But I am less concerned about the snap count. He did a lot of damage on 25 snaps last week
Nice catch
This is why Watkins is so difficult to bench. Taylor throws a great deep ball, and Sammy makes it look like an even better throw than it was by slowing down just a tad to get right under the ball. If Taylor puts it two yards further downfield and Sammy probably has the TD there. I am not sure that there are many QB-WR tandems in the NFL that I would want to rely on more than these two to make connections like that.
Nope, it's still you Nuke. Watkins is injured. So, he didn't practice today. You guys calling him a bust yet?
Not sure I am reading this correctly so forgive me if I talk past you a little bit. I certainly did not consider him to be 100% last week, if he was 100% he wouldn't have been on a snap count.Really? That seems strange to me -- that if you think he plays, he will get full complement of snaps that he did when he was 100%.
And bench him they did, last game when he was on a snap count and apparently not feeling sore and being 100%. Not sure that snap count can't be a factor now that he's experiencing soreness anew.
I get what you are saying about the opportunity Sammy has, but if he can do that damage on a snap count, why wouldn't they continue to be cautious if soreness continues to be an issue?
OK, good point, 100% isn't the best framing. Let's call it "Sammy Ready" -- he won't be truly 100%, but able to practice without additional soreness/complications. This was the bar he was at before last week's game. And in that game, they put him on a snap count.I certainly did not consider him to be 100% last week, if he was 100% he wouldn't have been on a snap count.
I think we all need to wait until tomorrow's practice report comes out before we conclude that he is worse this week than he was going into last week.OK, good point, 100% isn't the best framing. Going into this game, he's less than Sammy Ready -- apparently experiencing more soreness, past the point of his normal soreness he has been experiencing to the point that he is sitting out of practice.
If the team put him on a snap count when he was Sammy Ready last week, why wouldn't they put him on a similar snap count when he is less than Sammy Ready this week?
All this to say, not sure I agree that if he plays, he won't be on a snap count again. If anything it might be as likely (if not moreso given the new level of soreness).
Regardless of how many snaps he has, agree that he can torch CBs on any given play, as he did last week. But he's less likely to do it on less snaps.
