WR Tyrell Williams, DET - 9.22.21 - Concussion - Unlikely To Play Week 3 (1 Viewer)

Yeah I dropped him as well for Deandre Washington. I really didn't want to, but what I have learned is that if you are sitting pretty record wise ( I'm 3-1 in this league ) and you're sorted at WR ( Beckham/Marshall/Marvin/Maclin ) then hording running back lottery tickets stands you in better stead than keeping a 5th receiver even if he may be great. Of course it could bite me on the ### if he gets scooped up and some of my WRs continue to struggle somewhat, but I find that going into the latter half of the season it's RBs that start to wear down/get tired or injured more than stud WRs and its then that your thankful you have 6-7 RBs on your roster

True, he is playing more then Travis.
Inman's targets= 3,3,4,11 Travis= 8,6,7,7 Tyrell= 5,6,9,8

Inman's 11 looks like a situational outlier to me. Tyrell is making quite a few rookie WR mistakes which is limiting his production to a certain degree. When he starts to put it together, people are going to regret letting him go. He's legit and in a perfect situation for this year at least.

I read (I think here on this board, hell it might even be in this thread) that Inman was matched up against some rook so it's hard to read too much into last week. Also, snap counts..

His upcoming schedule is so-so though. Really hate the DEN match-ups. I still kind of want to buy if people are low on him.

29 yard TD splitting double coverage. A beauty of pass too. I will continue to trot him out of the tunnel. He just has "it" IMO.

This time, a 50 yard reception. The safety on Oakland should probably start respecting his speed, or don't!!

Anyone have the stones/desperation to start him against Denver? In one league where my options are him, Lockett and Woods, I might have to consider it ... but I still probably won't.

5 games 21 catches 358 yards 2 tds

16 game pace 67 catches 1150 yards 6.3 tds

Last 4 games (since allen got hurt) 19 catches 287 yards 2 tds

16 game pace 76 catches 1148 yards 8 tds

Take out his best and worst games

3 games 11 catches 201 yards 1 td

16 game pace 59 catches 1070 yards 5.3 tds

So the good news is it seems pretty reasonable to expect him to go for around 60/1100/6 on the season without projecting any improvement.

The bad news is it's been against a weak schedule.  He's faced the chiefs, jaguars, colts, saints and raiders.  Not exactly a murderers row.  But aside from the two broncos games, and maybe the chiefs in week 17, he faces the falcons, titans, dolphins, texans, bucs and then wraps up with the panthers, raiders and browns.  They have an amazingly soft passing schedule all year.

Also Rivers was really mad at him on a third down pass yesterday.  He caught the ball on a short crossing route short of the first down marker and didn't turn up field in time.  But there were no grudges - he did most of his damage including the touchdown after that.

Another frustrating thing - gates has 2 of the 8 tds he needs to set the record.  Henry has 2 tds of his own.  Melvin gordon got his first eceiving td this week too.  So the idea that he's the only big red zone target is on hold for now.

One more thing worth noting that he is getting more snaps than inman or benjamin - all of them in the 60%-70% range.  That could go up based on his role in single receiver sets.  Compare that with inman, who has been getting snaps in the offense longer, and benjamin, who seems to only be the "speed receiver", and i can see the relatively raw williams with good size and speed improving more than the others.

With a good qb, bad d, large role in the offense, good production so far, soft remaining schedule and room to improve his skills as the season goes on, i think he's emerging as a solid, every-week wr2 this year and a keeper/dynasty steal.

60/1000/6 makes me think of a typical  VJax season in his prime. I could live with that.

Nice post. I'd also add he's basically a rookie and only 24. Lots of room for growth. The problem I see is targets next year when Keenan comes back. This year though he's definitely going to be in the starting line up a lot.

i kinda take this approach with my players going against DEN....i sit em unless I have no other options....they have shut down two of the best in the business....green/julio...

if I sit Williams and he goes off against DEN....so be it....I can live with that.....but if I start him and he gets shutout......I should have known better....

I will say with the way rivers likes to sling it, I'm thinking about rolling the dice, cause with bye weeks it may be between Williams and one other player, and Williams upside may be higher...

DEN shuts down fantasy players. It's the same trend with MIN now too. That said, ATL RB's got there's yesterday. If you can find a replacement, I'd likely sit your players playing either defense.

I love me some Tyrell but as a flex this week, I'm betting you have a better option in Woods. I'm going to sit him for Julius Thomas (Thanks to a resurgent Graham).

It's not just Denver's pass D, it's the rush that will force Rivers to get rid of the ball sooner than most of Tyrell's effective routes allow.

Rivers isn't even looking at him in the first half. I like this kids potential but it seems he hasn't earned Rivers trust yet........

Yeah I didn't start him. It's just I've seen him running open a couple of times and I know if Rivers was even looking at him he would have thrown it to him but he's not looking his way at all really.

It looks like a good matchup for the passing game and should be a lot of scoring. I am starting him with confidence.

I'm starting him in two leagues, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking we have the Chargers' passing game figured out yet. We've seen them have a different pass catcher lead the team in targets each week. Right now, Tyrell seems like the guy to own (along with Henry), but would anyone be totally shocked if by next week we're all talking about Benjamin's great game?

Considering starting him over DeAndre Hopkins and Antonio Brown.

This season is weird.
I started Cam Meredith AND Tyrell over him this week.

0-1 so far and yes all normal rules of FF need not apply to 16'. He who wings it the best wins I'm thinking.

Depending on how they do today, I may begin starting tyrell over maclin going forward
I have that same situation but take a look at Maclin's schedule the next couple weeks......

NO

@Indy

Jax

@Car

TB

Doesn't get much better than that........

Isn't there a chance Trufant lines up on him?

I'd think that since Rivers throws to everyone -- Inman, T. Williams, Gates, Hunter, Gordon -- they'd play more base vs. following around.
Yeah that's a little bit of a concern. Benjamin is playing though right? Would think he might shadow him instead........

I put him in last minute over Doug Baldwin.....pretty happy with that at this point. Hopefully Atlanta scores again early in the 2nd half.
