WSL2 Draft Comments Thread (1 Viewer)

I'd like to thanks the guys that took player lists & made picks for me while I was at work. Jeter23 & bro1ncos have been a big help to me with my picks. Thank you guys very much, you did a great job and were always on top of things. Because of you guys this draft has run smooth and has been fun for me even if I didn't personally make some of my picks. You've been very pivotal in making this draft a success, hats off to you both. Also a shout out to Sigmund Bloom & Jeter23 for setting up the draft threads and tracking the draft for time outs. You guys have been very instrumental in making this draft a success as well. In all I'm very glad to have been a part of WSL2. This is a great group of owners and it's going to be hard to move on week to week.Regardless of when I'm ousted or where I finish WSL2 has already been a success IMO. Thanks to all of you for your hard work and dedication. Good luck to all of you.

GoBW Roster:

QB- M.Stafford, A.Luck®

RB- D.McFadden,S.Greene,Ryan Williams,C.Polk®,J.Ringer

WR- S.Smith(Car),DeSean Jackson,S.Moss,D.Williams,M.Sanu®

TE- F.Davis,J.Ballard,M.Lewis,C.Fleener®

PK- N.Folk,J.Brown

D/ST- Atlanta Falcons,Minnesota Vikings

QB-Stafford should have another productive year and be a top 5 QB if he stays healthy. Luck should start from day 1 but production wise who knows.

RB-I like DMC & even Greene to bounce back some & have good years. Ryan Williams' playing time will depend on Beanie's health but Williams could be a wildcard if he gets opportunities. I question my pick of Polk but we'll see. Ringer would have to have CJ non-productive or not healthy to put up any relevant numbers.

WR- Smith should have another good year with Cam at QB. DeSean Jackson could be very good if his attitude gets adjusted & he gets paid. Moss should have some consistency if someone other than Grossman or Beck are behind center. Damian Williams should be the #2 guy for the Titans. Sanu is a wildcard. He might see significant playing time depending on where he goes. If he goes to my Niners I think he gets some 1st unit playing time & average production.

TE- Fred Davis should continue to evolve and be a decent TE. Ballard won't see as many targets with the WR's the Giants have but could get TD's. Lewis I'm not sure about with Gabbert at QB, it's still the MJD show.I'm excited about Coby Fleener's chances of being a pretty productive TE no matter where he goes. Maybe a Gronk type TE and I think he'll score decent this year.

PK- Meh. All the good PK's were gone before I took one so don't particularly like my kickers.

D/ST- Don't like my defenses either. I waited too long to get a half decent unit so both D's will be a shot in the dark with helping my team.

Overall Draft grade- B-. I have some good players that may help me hang in there for a little while but my team isn't strong enough, at least I think so, to challenge for the WSL2 title. I'd need a lot of luck to make it to the end.

My top players will be Stafford, D Mac, Steve Smith & Fred Davis. Not enough for a title.

The snow is flying, so what better way to spend a Saturday then to do the team write up ...

QB - T. Brady, T. Jackson

Brady will continue to be a stud in this format, since the Pats should continue to throw the ball a ton. Once the backups started flying off the board I was pretty much resigned to the fact I would be left with the dregs. I contemplated have Brady fly solo, but am gambling that the Hawks will stick with TJax.

RB - T. Richardson, R. Helu, D. Brown, D. McCluster, C. Ivory, D. Carter

I actually really like this grouping. I am a firm believer in Richardson and think he can put up top 15 numbers this year. I also think Helu will be the lead back in Washington and could have a stellar year if they get somme semblance of a threat at QB. Throw in the Colt RB duo and a few big games from McCluster/Ivory and you got the makings of a very good back field.

WR - P. Harvin, J. Maclin, J. Blackmon, G. Little, R. Meachem, D. Hester

At face value these guys aren't scaring anybody, but I love their big play ability right across the board. All of them are capable of having big games which is exactly what you want in this league. In hindsight, I probably should have taken one more to beef up the squad a bit.

TE - T. Gonzalez, D. Pitta

I basically have to hope and pray Gonzalez has one big year left in him. I wanted to nab a backup earlier but it just never worked out for me. Hopefully Pitta can continue to show improvement and become a bigger part of the Raven offence.

D - Seattle, Tennessee

PK - Janikowski, Mare

All in all, I think I have a decent team that has a chance, but this is definitely not going to be tabbed as the "team to beat" by many.

My team review:

QB - Sam Bradford and Blaine Gabbert

Really dislike this combo. My original plan was to grab Bradford and another QB of similar stature. Unfortunately I missed the big QB run and was stuck with grabbing Gabbert, who I figured would at least get another full season with a new coach. I really need Bradford to bounce back from his sophomore slump and hope STL can improve his o-line.

RB - LeSean McCoy, Mendenhall, Reggie Bush, Cedric Benson and Ryan Grant

Overall I think I have a solid group in this format. Shady and Reggie should be strong performers in this format. Not sure what I was thinking when I took Mendy when I did, I am sure he would have dropped more since at best he will only be available for 1/2 a season. Would be nice to see Benson and Grant fall into a position to at least split carries with another RB and maybe be a TD vulture.

WR - Brandon Marshall, AJ Green, Danny Amendola, Kevin Walter, Harry Douglas, Doug Baldwin

I think this will be the strongest piece of my team. I really like Marshall this year, since he should end up with a better QB in a very receiver friendly offense. AJ Green and Baldwin should have very solid sophomore seasons and hopefully Green takes a step up to be one of the top 6-7 WR in football. If Amendola bounces back he should be a great guy to have 85+ catches. Douglas and Walter are guys who may score a couple times for me since they are in offenses that like to throw the ball in the red zone.

TE - Jared Cook, Joel Dreessen, Tony Moeaki

Cook really started coming in to his own last year and should be a top 8-10 TE. Will be interesting to see if Moeaki bounces back from injury and hopefully become a safety blanket for whomever is throwing the ball in KC. Dreessen was a late draft choice that will hopefully score for me in 1 or 2 weeks, but I think Owen Daniels will really make him almost irrelevant this season, but Daniels definitely has an injury history.

K - Mason Crosby and Graham Gano

I like Crosby and he should be a strong kicker in a high scoring offense. Gano should get opportunities in an offense that might struggle in the red zone with a young QB.

Def - Detroit and St. Louis

Lions are a young defense that should be on the up swing and continue to improve if the players can become more disciplined. Rams D was just picking from the bottom of the barrel that will hopefully improve if the Rams O gets better at staying on the field more.

Overall I am really disappointed in my draft. A lot of that stems from my really poor QB situation. It is always tough to get a lot of talent in a 16-team league and then throw in the owner talent/knowledge that is here, it is really a challenge. I really see my team as being a middle of the road team in this league, with some upside. Doing these drafts are so much better than other mock drafts because you are drafting against some of the best in business and I can learn so much.

Everybody scared of Peyton? Surprised at some of the guys who went ahead of him.
I think it's the risk/reward - if you already have a very solid #1, Peyton is all risk - he won't improve your QB score all that much, but he could fail to cover your bye. If your #1 is shakier, Peyton is a lot more reward - could be your #1 in the 8th - so the risk is tolerable. That's why I opted for Fitz over him. In a redraft, Peyton is still in my top 10-15 QBs on upside alone.
I agree with all of this. Peyton doesn't make much sense for my team with Rodgers as my QB1. I would have probably preferred a safer option like Fitz as well for the bye week security. I guess I was surprised to see Flynn, Griffin, Luck, A.Smith, etc. all go ahead of Peyton though. Lots of risk in that group (plus Tebow too). The fact that I got Peyton just ahead of Blaine Gabbert and Matt Cassel made it a no-brainer regardless of who my QB1 was.
Peyton to the Broncos.Been a month since this discussion. Where do people think Peyton will go in the PDSLs?Here was the QB run and the QBs that went immediately ahead of him.

Peyton Manning, 27th QB off the board. Insanity.

I have Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning in a 16-team draft.

I guess my main question with Manning is what does "cleared to play" really mean in this case....having neck surgery and being "cleared to play" in some other sport may be one thing, but having neck surgery and being cleared to play football is another.....I doubt the testing process of clearing him to play included taking blind side whiplash inducing hits in the back from a 260 pound linebacker at full speed....how do you really test for that...?...

after signing a contract that makes him the highest paid player in the league, he ain't gonna get any sympathy from anybody after kick off....

part of me thinks this could end up being a trainwreck for the Broncos as they currently admittedly have no "plan B" and the contract is even structured to factor in that the neck could cause some problems....

he is going to be dancing around in the pocket all summer looking like a world beater as there will probably be a 10 foot "no entry zone" around him....then he will probably only play about 1 quarter in any preseason game because after all he is Peyton Manning and Peyton Manning don't need no preseason action.....

when the puck drops in September and he starts getting smacked around (even though the NFL and the officials will probably still like to have that "no entry zone" in place) I will start paying attention fantasy wise....if I miss out on Manning and his stats this year, so be it....where you will have to take him in most leagues, probably including these, makes the price a little too high for the risk IMO...

he was the 27th QB drafted. I don't really see the risk at that point.
I think what Stinkin Ref means is that from this point forward, his stock will rise and the price to land him will be too high for the risk. For example in the PDSL and the other survivor leagues going forward.

I'm still ok with both rookies going ahead of Peyton because I believe they both have low QB1/ high QB2 upside. The rest of them on this list I think should definitely have gone after him.

QB- Ryan, Locker

RB- Charles, Spiller, Hunter, Hardesty

WR- Julio Jones, T Smith, Crabtree, Hankerson, G Tate, KWilliams, Randle

TE- Graham, Rudolph, ZMiller

PK-Tynes, Suisham

TD-NYG, ARZ

Not my best effort. Several guys have seen their value take a hit with FA, including Charles, Crabtree and Rudolph. Of course, I regret taking Locker over Manning, but glad PM did not sign in Tenn.

Probably will last a month or so.
