Xavier Lee, former high school phenom from FSU (1 Viewer)

Maybe he's broke and his family needs money now. Myabe he doesn't think he's good enough to make a positive impact, so he wants to cash in now. Who knows?

I remember reading somewhere that they wanted him to change positions to TE. I guess he didn't want to and felt his time at FSU wasn't working out. The funny thing is that according to some his best chance of making it in the NFL is if he changes position to TE or maybe Safety.

So instead of taking the advice of the coaches, and possibly be a desired commodity with upside in the '09 draft, he is destined to be signed by some team as an undrafted free agent. That means a signing bonus of about $2,000, with the chance to make the rookie minimum (about $300,000 this year, I would guess) if he can even make the team, which is unlikely considering he couldn't get regular playing time in the ACC.Yep... great decision.

Why do you care so much?

I think it was a combination of academic problems and knowing he had lost his shot at QB. I don't know why he didn't transfer to a 1-AA school where he wouldn't have to sit out a year.

X-MAN RUMORS: Former FSU quarterback Xavier Lee wasn't invited to last week's NFL Combine, which doesn't bode well for any aspirations he has of playing in the NFL.Rather than move to tight end and try to restore his academic eligibility, Lee opted to leave school early and enter the draft. Since making it official in early January, rumors of Lee's whereabouts have floated across cyberspace. At one point, he was reportedly in DeLand working out. A few days later, he was in Miami attending an FSU basketball game. The latest rumor has him heading north to play in the Canadian Football League.Regardless of where Lee is today, FSU officials confirmed Tuesday he is scheduled to work out for pro scouts at FSU's Pro Day on March 19.

Lee lacks this one very important aspect that it takes to succeed in the NFL. It's called intelligence, or at least a reasonable facsimile. His best shot at any kind of professional football will be the Arena League.

Lee is horrible. I love FSU football and he makes horrible throws. Every time I've seen him play he puts little on the ball. He'll be a receiver in the NFL because he can't play QB.

So what makes you think he's good enough to play WR in the NFL?

He's on the Adrian McPherson career track. Though having seen both quite a bit in HS, Lee was nowhere near as good as McPherson.
