It stays consistentAnybody listen to the Podcast/Story "We're Alive"? Podcast started in 2009 about surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. Like the idea, but the acting and writing are just OK.
It's incredible.I am halfway through "S town" and honest to God cannot believe this is a real story. Trying to find time to finish it up.
What podcast? Was just listening to a WW2 podcast, where they took a break for a Lufthansa ad delivered by people with German accents. I wonder what marketing genius placed that one.
The History of WWII Podcast. It’s been around forever somehow despite the fact that it’s not all that good. What podcast?
It hit such a brick wall when he paused with Moscow surrounded to move to the Pacific. Now it's just poor interviews (wow, that's amazing) and battles that he's not conveying properly in narrative form. The History of WWII Podcast. It has a couple of follow-ups, Lockdown and Gold Rush. It has flaws as you said, but I enjoyed it overall.Anybody listen to the Podcast/Story "We're Alive"? Podcast started in 2009 about surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. Like the idea, but the acting and writing are just OK.
Couldnt get past the first episode (Celery), it gets better right?loving Milk Street Radio to scratch my interest-in-cooking-itch for about the last year
It all gets tied together in episode 4-MirepoixCouldnt get past the first episode (Celery), it gets better right?
Where is the gold? I finished it and the author should do a follow up or something.S***town
well, it's not a serial podcast.Buddy Ball 2K3 said:Couldnt get past the first episode (Celery), it gets better right?
I know right. It’s a strange podcast that sucks you in.Where is the gold? I finished it and the author should do a follow up or something.
I actually like the interviews as it is a break from the host’s normally very bizarre reading cadence, and the guests usually manage to convey some interesting stuff notwithstanding the poor questions.Tick said:It hit such a brick wall when he paused with Moscow surrounded to move to the Pacific. Not a podcast, but my son and I really enjoyed listening to the trilogy of audiobooks by Rick Atkinson starting with An Army at Dawn. It follows the main 3 US European campaigns - book 1 is North Africa, book 2 is Sicily/Italy, and book 3 is northern Europe.I actually like the interviews as it is a break from the host’s normally very bizarre reading cadence, and the guests usually manage to convey some interesting stuff notwithstanding the poor questions.
Now I’m reconsidering why I listen at all - any other WW2 pods that people enjoy?
What’s really crazy about that pod is it starts in one direction and ends in a completely different (and more fascinating) one. The story literally evolves. It's incredible.I am halfway through "S town" and honest to God cannot believe this is a real story. Trying to find time to finish it up.
What I found fascinating is it was totally believable to me as I know people like that. My relationship was similar to the authors in I was an outsider and they welcomed me in but I totally understood it. The angst and forgotteness of rural America is a huge deal.
Thanks for this one. Hopefully they can arrest her and everyone else involved. From my 15 minutes of internet research it looks like there are dozens of these scams that keep popping up from the same scammers. I don’t understand how these people fly under the authorities’ radar. Igor Alberts should be locked up for pushing Dagcoin given that it’s a Onecoin clone.Just ran across this eight part podcast, fascinating stuff.
Dr Ruja Ignatova persuaded millions to join her financial revolution. Then she disappeared. Why? Jamie Bartlett presents a story of greed, deceit and herd madness. She was the founder of OneCoin, a crypto currency that never was but bilked investors to the tune of $15.5 billion euros.
The Missing Cryptoqueen
Yea that's the stuff that's really amazing, that they are still pushing OneCoin but that one of OneCoin's main sellers went off on his own and started the exact same scam in Dagcoin and are selling it like hotcakes.Dickies said:Thanks for this one. you probably would like the trap set with joe wong. interviews with drummers.I listen to way too many movie podcasts, so I have been trying to balance that out with some music podcasts. I've found a few that I really like so far:
Dissect - WAY in depth dissection of a handful of albums so far. Looks to be mostly rap, but loved the season breaking down Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly. Looks like 5 albums/seasons so far.
Songs of Note - a new one from the last couple months. Just 9 episodes so far with songs from Radiohead to Beatles to John Coltrane.
Heat Rocks - the main hosts bring in somebody to talk about 1 album and break it down. Again feels rap-centered.
The Classic Rock Album by Album Podcast - pretty self explanatory
There are 3-4 others I subscribed to, but haven't gotten around to listening to too many episodes of yet.
A few others that I also have been listening to or just started:
Your Divided Attention - I have loved Tristan Harris when I have heard him on other pods, and this is his that started this summer
Armchair Expert - I gave this one another go, and have liked it a lot more. Dax seems to get some interesting stories out of people.
Office Ladies - another fun one with some good behind the scenes stories.

Dan Carlin and Hardcore History has been discussed here ad nauseam (rightfully so), and this isn't a general WWII pod but more Soviet/Nazi specific, his Ghosts of the Ostfront is fantastic. Supernova in the East covers Asia from like 1935-1945 isn't his best work but that's like saying I got the worst BJ. It was still pretty good.I actually like the interviews as it is a break from the host’s normally very bizarre reading cadence, and the guests usually manage to convey some interesting stuff notwithstanding the poor questions.

Had a bout with insomnia last night and began this upon your recommendation. Started with Kanye and the "All Of The Lights" episode because I particularly like that song and album. Kendrick is also, of course, a Class A choice for dissection.KarmaPolice said:Dissect - WAY in depth dissection of a handful of albums so far. Yep, Carlin is the best.Dan Carlin and Hardcore History has been discussed here ad nauseam (rightfully so), and this isn't a general WWII pod but more Soviet/Nazi specific, his Ghosts of the Ostfront is fantastic. For WWI his Blueprint for Armageddon is the gold standard of history/war pods IMO.

I liked it and wrote them, actually, as a new listener, to get their emails, news, etc. As for the show, I listened to about twenty minutes of it. I think I spaced a little when they were dissecting Rihanna's hook and what it meant to the song. If anything, I thought they were giving some pop tropes a bit too much weight, but it is called dissection, so it wasn't off-putting or ludicrous.Did you like the podcast?
Thought he did a great job breaking down lyrics, giving some backstory and context, and talking about where the different samples came from. I listen to a bit of music, but really don't dig this deep and I am for sure not a lyrics guy, so I thought the season for To Pimp was great. I haven't gone on to the other albums yet.
I wish there were more podcasts that did this for an album.
He posted an Addendum episode yesterday on Alexander the Great's mother ... I'm an hour in with two and half to go. I learned about Weinstein thru Rogan. Give that one a listen to get a feel for how he thinks. I’ve caught a few of the Portal, really liked his interview with Andrew Yang but Weinstein is way outta my league when it comes to a lot of the subjects he discusses. I tend to listen to podcasts as background noise, checking in and out but I can’t do that with the Portal.I frequently listen to Sam Harris. That led me to Eric Weinstein. Any reviews for The Portal? Any recommendations for 'people who liked this podcast might like this other podcast'?
Was really good. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I really enjoyed season 3 of Slow Burn. It's a podcast from Slate and the season is about Biggie vs Tupac.
What is this called and where is it? I haven’t been able to find the episode you’re speaking of anywhere. I’d love to hear it.He posted an Addendum episode yesterday on Alexander the Great's mother ... I'm an hour in with two and half to go. Just good stuff.
The feed is called hardcore history: addendum. What is this called and where is it? I haven’t been able to find the episode you’re speaking of anywhere. I love to hear it.
Awesome thank you! I didn’t realize it was a whole separate podcast from the original Hardcore history. The feed is called hardcore history: addendum.
Is that the name of the podcast? The DC sniper podcast is incredible
