On the other hand, I asked a question the other day what Obama could do to reduce gas prices, and I did not receive what I considered to be a satisfactory answer. IMO Obama is rather helpless with regard to the gas issue.
To be fair, you received at least a dozen legit answers on specific things the Obama administration could do to help lower gas prices in the short and medium term. You just disagree with those answers.

This is extremely presidential, this is how it is done.
Serious question, what do you think he did differently than Bush, Kerry, McCain, or Gore would have done with the same intel had it come during their administrations?
Bush issued the order that he wanted to get Osama really really bad, while Obama issued the order that he wanted Osama really really really bad. Major policy change there.
If you can't give the current President credit for capturing the most wanted man in our history, that's very sad. You can still be a Republican and think something great happened under Obama's watch.
I'm gonna say most of "us" feel that the credit is due to our intel/military organizations, not the current POTUS. Thanks for acting predictable though.
Very sad.

...So Obama gets no credit for this, but it's his fault gas is $4. Got it.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: According to you, ceo3west, Obama gets credit for OSL, but no blame for $4 gas. Got it. :)
But that position is really not that absurd. From everything I have read since last night, Obama was directly involved in this action and made the crucial decision to send forces into Pakistan, which was quite a risk. Therefore, he deserves credit for this.On the other hand, I asked a question the other day what Obama could do to reduce gas prices, and I did not receive what I considered to be a satisfactory answer. IMO Obama is rather helpless with regard to the gas issue.
Point taken, and I agree. I was solely underlining ceo3west's hypocrisy when it comes to evaluating President Obama's performance. When the jim11s & the ceo3wests of this board constantly engaged in their partisan rhetoric/propaganda, they have lost any ground to criticizing other posters for partisan claptrap.
Where did I say he should "get credit for OSL, but no blame for $4 gas"? YOU put that in my mouth. I was merely pointing out someone else's hypocrisy. Before you jump to conclusions and criticize posters I suggest you think about what you're reading first guy.

It is being reported by AP that Gitmo detainees and waterborded terrorists KSM and Abu Faraj pointed to the individual who lead the US to this site. So it seems waterboarding works! And perhaps a few kudos to Bush is derserved.

So does Bush get some credit too?
Of course he does.
Why does Bush deserve credit? What did Obama continue to do that Bush set in place? Didn't Obama step up drone attacks in Pakistan?
Four years ago under the Bush Administration, they identified Bin Laden's main courier, the man Bin Laden trusted most. Under Obama's administration, they continued to watch the courier, and then this past August they figured out where he lived.

Exactly. This thing was set up long ago...info obtained that led to knowing these couriers came before Obama was in office. This was not the work of one sitting president. It was the work over the last 2 administrations and some great intel work in getting this guy.

Thank you Mr. President for using all intelligence, diplomatic relationships and other resources available to you instead of resorting to torture and other violent means that failed under President Bush.
correction: obama used the intelligence gathered via torture and violence under Bush to exploit Bin Ladens weak link."McTorture™, It Works!"

Here is who he cites: I directed Leon Panetta ... we continued our broader efforts to disrupt ... painstaking work by our intelligence community ... I was briefed ... I met repeatedly with my national security team ... I determined that we had enough intelligence ... at my direction, the U.S. launched ... team of Americans carried out the operation... our nation's effort to defeatI'm a big liberal, but I will say the section after Obama cited the intelligence community up until he talked about the team of Americans did get a little self-involved for my taste. For example, he could have cut "at my direction" before talking about the launch. We know you're the President - we assume you make these decisions.
James Fallows from the Atlantic, who is pretty liberal like I am, said this:
On reflection I do agree that a middle part of the speech was more personalized than it should have been. Although you can make a case for each specific "I ordered this" "I determined that" statement, together there are too many of them. Still, the overall tone was right.
I agree with his assessment. Good speech, but it revealed a slight insecurity in Obama about his role as commander-in-chief that he assuaged by over inserting himself into the action.

Odd, a few promenent liberal journalists agreed with me, but when I suggested it, it was the worst post ever. Maybe I am not the only one who views things with idealogical biases.

We're talking about a small drop of information in a sea of information. That's a long way from the end result. Seems like it's pretty easy for a President to overlook these types of things and they have. This one didn't. Obama is the President that freed up troops and resources from Iraq. He then made an unpopular move by increasing the troops in Afghanistan, so operators could be operators. Obama is the President that had the balls to act on a very risky mission. He managed the situation the entire way and it was on his head. Maybe you feel we should have informed the Pakistanis like Bush's White House and watched OBL slip through our fingers again or invite disaster to the mission and the deaths of US Servicemen.Obama and his staff did a lot to make this day a reality.

 Anyone who thinks this was solely the work of the Obama admin and cannot give credit all around is a naive partisan hack.I give him credit for pulling it off for sure...but if you don't think that Bush would have had the "balls" to give the go ahead if they had this information you are nuts. What I feel is that given the same information most presidents would have given the same order as Obama did.Id give much more credit to the CIA and that Navy Seal team rather than the sitting president. But Im sure thats not good enough for you either.

Reading down? With all of the partisan hypocrisy you engage on this board, you have lost the legitimacy to call out other people's hypocrisy.

I am not certain why Tim is calling the White House at three in the morning, but despite his hopes Obama is not answering.

Barack Obama:Cleaning up Republican's messes since 2008.
Stop politicizing. Both parties are to blame. Bush didn't get bin Laden, and there shouldn't have even been a 9-11 if Clinton would have taken care of business after the US Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania and the USS Cole attack. This is an American win, not a D or R win.

Good grief, can't we just enjoy this?
says the "guy" who runs in here and posts every little negative ####### tidbit about Obama 7 days a week.
This is a *little* different than posting about his idiotic drilling moratorium. This is a time when we can all come together and give a symbolic high five to each other. Instead Obama spends the first six minutes of his speech last night congratulating himself. This is a victory for all of America and we should all be able to see it that way.

This is a bit unfair. Posting in this thread is part of Stat's bargain with the FFA. Instead of starting a new thread for every WND news break, and becoming another Jim11/timsochet/perry147/cr8f board spammer, he's keeping everything in one spot so people who don't want to be bothered by it aren't.

Would you rather he started 421 separate threads?

Honestly, yes.

getting Bin Laden is an American win, #### yeah! I was just stating my opinion on the job that President Obama is doing so far, not just what happened yesterday.

I can certainly make that happen.

BTW, just an educated guess, but I think President McCain or President Palin would have also given the green light to kill Bin Laden.

 Politics. Peter King kudos

eta...and probably no small sense of relief!

Or would they have elected to just bomb the compound instead of choosing the plan that was just executed?
Let's face it, once McCain was elected, OBL probably would have surrendered.edit : Glad to have you back, I missed you.

Saying he did a lot is not saying, "this was solely the work of the Obama admin." Your posting makes it seem as if it was just a forgone conclusion once the intelligence was gathered. I contend that it was far from it. Of course Bush does deserve some accolades. Bush massively increased the size of our intelligence community and defended the merits of Gitmo where this information came from. If the lead had developed to the point where the White House was playing an active role then as this one did we don't know yet. I still feel that the Iraqi war was a major factor in allowing Bin Laden to breath for so long.Actually Presidents didn't have the balls. The Clinton White House didn't want to risk lives so he lobs a couple cruise missiles at some questionable targets as a response. The Bush White House didn't have the balls to do the job without getting permission from the Pakistanis first. They always wanted or wrongly trusted others to do our work. We've lost more then a few targets because of this. If the Bush White House had the balls to get it done the right way then it would have been over in Tora Bora. The only other explanation is that Bush and his advisors were/are grossly incompetent.

Pathetic. Both sides acting like 3 year old brats. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Makes me want to puke when our men and women in the armed forces sacrifice themselves on a daily basis, only to have a bunch of political hacks #####ing and moaning about who deserves the credit for killing OBL. You all suck.

I think this Osama news is a litmus test of sorts. If you're totally unwilling to give him credit or even say kudos, you're a biased political hack who is unable to remove your blinders and look at an issue reasonably.
