It appears to me that Dillon is all but done. He's still a good goal-line runner, but his breakaway speed is a thing of the past. Just wondering if you guys think there's a team out there who would actually prefer Dillon?

If their contract demands were the same - 100% agree. However, that isn't going to be the case with these two players.

The Steelers, if they want Dillon to try to reprise the Bettis role. Part of their Super Bowl hangover was the loss of Bettis as a hammer back to control clock and close out games.

Yes but because of the teams cap #s rising, almost every team has significant cap room. I dont think it should be a problem

Good backup that knows the conference rival(lack of a better term) very well=win win situation for them.

If he's not looking for a truckload of money too, of course. Each team could conceivably win it all in 07, so maybe another ring would entice him.

If I were the Browns I would take Dillon for a year or two since Jones is going to want a much longer contract . I wouldn't draft A.Peterson, I would spend that pick on a D Lineman, Calvin Johnson, or Quinn. I then take my back in the second round or trade down a bit to do so.

Peterson just hasnt been healthy enough to warrant the 3rd pick in the draft for me.

Having Frye, Dillon, Calvin Johnson, Edwards and Bush/Irons etc would be more attractive to me then having Peterson.

"Available" is a pretty vague word - let's keep in mind, as long as we're not just discussing the hypothetical, that Jones will have to be traded for whereas Dillon will be a free agent.

One of the biggest reasons he wants to leave NE is because he wants more than the 7-10 touches he was getting with the Pats. No way he signs with Indy or especially SD. He wants to be a starter. Not many teams are in a situation where Dillon might be an upgrade over their current starter. What teams might sign him to be a short term starter? Houston, Detroit, Baltimore, Jets, Browns? Is there anyone else?

After the draft I don't think there will many teams who would need him to start (and pay him the starting money he wants). Detroit looks like a good fit if he's willing to backup KJ when he gets back. I think the other teams (Houston, Balt, Jets and Browns) will get their starter in the draft (at least Peterson/Lynch) and the other two could end up with Turner and TJ.

I felt like Rhodes "killed" quite a few Ds in the playoffs. Addai and the passing O might have tired them out but he seemed to come in and "finish them off" with some key runs. I don't think there's going to be much of a market for him as a starter. Once he realizes that, I think to fill Rhodes' role will seem like a good option.Jones' return date isn't so definite right now. I don't see Dillon starting over him when he returns. Ravens must have a plan if they're letting Jamal go. They have Mike Anderson so I don't really see why they'd sign Dillon. Who would want to go to the Browns to finish up their career? They've all but fired their coach by taking away his staff. If he were to go to NY, I'd bet the Jets plan is to get Washington more experience so he'd be sharing the rock there I'd think. A great(and young) back might make Washington sit or become a 3rd down back but I don't think Dillon at this stage forces that.

IMO Dillon will have to hope to make the most of his time like MJD or Marion Barber did in 06. Backups that got the rock plenty
