The thing that annoyed me was when they pulled all the Disney/ABC/ESPN stuff from YTTV, I thought I'd be able to pick up shows with my D+/Hulu/ESPN streaming bundle.

It worked for my regular shows, but not for sports. Even though I already pay for that bundle, ESPN wants me paying an additional $30/mth just to access their programming. All the D+ bundle gets me is low level sports that I'd never watch. Anything of substance costs additional money, or a Hulu Live subscription.

ESPN/Disney has gotten too greedy IMO. I hope they continue to lose money as they try to bleed their customers dry. I'm fine watching highlights on YT or TT for now. I'm in no rush to give them more money.

FWIW, I watch NHL and EFL on ESPN+ and that all still works fine. Combined with my college FB team being a "Fox" team and ESPN/ABC only having one NFL game a week and I'm really not missing ESPN/ABC yet.

Kinda where I’m at. I get the lightning and magic from other services. NFL all day Sunday. I can see some cfb Saturday, I’m exhausted by all the sec stuff on espn anyhow. I’ll miss the fsu game but I don’t really need to see them again this year. Idk I’ll be fine until the cfb playoff and can figure it out then.

Same. I have a streaming app I use for MLB that also covers NFL, so I'll likely use that if there is a game on that I want to watch that I can't find on YTTV.

You guys should at least do the DIRECTV free trial. I'm paying less than I was with YTTV (although YMMV since I had to shell out $19/month for my regional sports channel; DTV carries it so that cost is gone) and getting significantly more.

The package I chose (Choice) also gives me ESPN with all the fixin's (i.e., NHL, NBA, College football & basketball, soccer, field hockey ... everything), Disney+ and ABC/ESPN on the main service.

Hell, it even has the Red Zone channel (in Choice, not sure of other packages).

They long ago separated out ESPN+ content, I just don’t think people noticed. You were able to access the linear tv options because you had the YTTV subscription, and then the ESPN+ because you have that bundle. I don’t do ESPN+, so I could get the linear ESPN stuff on their app, but I couldn’t get ESPN+ stuff. Nothing really changed on that due to this dispute.

On a (maybe) related note, YTTV gave me a $10 credit for 3 months (starting last month) because I don't know why

Stumbled across it in the 'membership' or 'billing' sections, can't remember which

Had to activate it
$10 off credit can be found here on desktop site only:

Settings > Membership > Manage plan

I got it for 6 months.
Looking for this $10 credit … nothing is showing for me. Halp?

Settings > Memebership > Manage …

And then nothing except for “pause” or “cancel”

Any of you bros/Bronette’s have any success finding the credit?

Yes I’m on desktop

Was looking into this as well. Do you use the DTV Stream app or do you have a sat dish? And how do you like the interface, compared to YTTV?

My daughter has DTV with dish and I'm not a huge fan of the guide, but was wondering if the interface for streaming is similar. One of the things I like about yttv is you can hide channels you don't care about and arrange the order of how you want channels listed. Don't think you can do that with DTV.

I know with the dish you can hide channels on DTV but I don't think you can change the order. Not sure about the streaming version but I would assume you should be able to hide channels.

Sure, YTTV is losing money, but isn't the NFL also losing too? I have no idea how all these huge sums of money flow, but it can't be good for the NFL that viewers cultivate new habits ways and chose to spend time differently while Google and Disney fight over money.

Anecdote time: For first year ever I am ignoring Thursday night games. I turn in a low effort Wednesday evening sanity check to set my lineup, and then ignore the NFL until Sunday. Highly recommend.
I ignore it all together. Even higher recommendation.
Seriously. There are what 5x, 6x, 10x as many commercials than there are plays? Oh, 30 second timeout, let's go splitscreen for another commercial!
It's starting to become an unbearable product.
I went on some rant here about the same thing basically. Just inundated with ads everywhere and any time you look up.

It's like, what the hell am I doing anymore? as my life just throttles by.

And yeah, the split-screen really does it for me as well. That one specifically pushes me to the brink, every time I see it.

******** it all.

I think it’s going to get absolutely ridiculous in the future. MLB already has advertisements on uniforms and imposed ads on the pitching mound. I’m sure at some point the NFL will follow. It’ll get to the point where every at bat or play is brought to you by somebody. I’m with you. I just want a little cabin in the woods with a running stream to fish.

Congrats. But, how?

I followed the same prompts that Jaysus'ssss did, but i see nothing of a $10 credit

Yep. Found this on the webs:

“These are for subscribers who previously cancelled or paused their subscriptions. The $20 credit has not yet been issued,” Gibby said.

Reports of account credits appeared on Reddit but not every YouTube TV user has received it.

Some YouTube TV subscribers have discovered an offer for a $10 credit toward their monthly subscription.

To check if you have the offer, log in to your YouTube TV account on desktop, go to ‘Settings,’ select ‘Membership’ and then ‘Manage Plan.’ If you are eligible, a message will appear that says ‘Redeem your offer.

Only users who have previously canceled or paused their subscription will see the message in their account."

I have not paused or canceled, yet. Silly, they should offer this SO I DON'T PAUSE OR CANCEL. But OK then, thanks guys.

I use the streaming app via my Amazon Firestick TV 4k (or whatever the hell it's called). It works fine. They'll lease you a dongle called Gemini that comes with a remote for $10/month, but it works fine with the Firestick remote. (I had the dish for years, probably the 2nd or 3rd year they had Sunday Ticket. Their customer service has always been top notch.)

W/r/t interface, the only thing missing is the multiview. DTV has a few canned multiviews that are worthless. The good news is that ESPN+ has multiview and it's been nice having a bunch of NHL games in multiview. Something I didn't have with YTTV.

DTV has a number of channel guides. All (sortable by channel # or alphabetically), recent channels and favorites. You can't hide channels, per se, but you can omit them as you build your favorites guide. You can't order them (other than sorting by, again, channel # or alphabetically).

Got the $10 off deal. Also trying out some free IPTV services that seem pretty solid so far. May just pause YTTV if the other options work out.

That is still ridiculous. You have subscribers already paying for your streaming service, and then you firewall off the more popular games into this new "ESPN+" area and tell people "Well you already pay X amount each month, but now you'll need to pay another $20/mth to watch anything worth watching". It's terrible.

Do any of YTTV's competitors have this many dispute with networks? It feels like every few months I get an email from YTTV saying that they're negotiating with XXXXX Company and if they don't reach an agreement, all their affiliated channels and content will not be available. I want stability, especially for big networks like ESPN channels.

I seem to remember DirecTV and Dish having these disputes back in the day with some short term blackouts. Not sure about the current streaming services.

Getting super pissed about this. Switched from DTV to YTTV when the NFL ticket came over, and up until this fiasco was happy we did. YTTV has been far better than DTV. But this dragging on, largely because of greed, is infuriating.

They 100% did (and still do) have these disputes. But in my 20+ yrs with DTV I can’t remember them ever lasting more than a day or 2.

Seems like lots of people blaming ESPN over YT

"People siding over a company that they pay money to over a content company. Never thought I’d see it"

It's not as surprising when you consider that the "content company" is doing this to try to get people to move over to one of their own "carrier" companies and become the one the people pay money to.

Here's the other oddity that I don't know if it was Xfinity or ESPN, but the only way for me to get SEC network and all of that is I had to pay extra on a Xfinity sports tier to get all those channels. So I was super excited to get the SEC network included with the base YouTube plan

Need to find a different source for my playoff soccer Sunday. Go Current!

I ‘m looking at tickets as they are dropping hard in price. 35° at kickoff.

YTTV, ABC, and Disney can all pound sand.

Having their on air talent sending out the same lame tweets, trying to send people to some website to pressure YTTV was an unbelievably tone deaf move.

People were still steamed at Schefter for trying to condescendingly explain to everyone how commercials are really far and few between on the new Red Zone. They saw how it went already! And they still had the talent all do the same thing.
I highly, highly recommend looking up all these tweets, and skimming the comments. Hilarious 😂

Pat McAfee gave Kirk Herbstreit some static over it, and that disingenuous simp said
“Somebody told me and I thought, ‘hey, maybe this will help people watch the shows,'” Herbstreit confirmed. “I didn’t really think about…”
Well Golly Gee, I had no idea all the talent at ESPN posted the same thing, I just thought I would be doing all the great college football fans in this nation a solid by sending people to some random website no one ever heard of.

:bored: Looking forward to Kirk's congressional campaign.

ESPN tried and failed to become everyone's bookie, fill the shows with betting advice, and now Screaming A and Mina Kimes (say it ain't so) are pimping some solitaire game that Smith got a deal for becuz he was caught ignoring a game and playing solitaire.

They're making this so easy.

FWIW, I moved from Youtube TV to Hulu Live and it's been great.
I actually did the opposite and kept youtubetv and cancelled Disney plus

Do you not need any of the content on ESPN or ABC?
I'd argue we don't need any of it.

I miss a football game I'll survive

You’re a better man than I. I feel myself withering away slowly with every missed game or missed Sportscenter. If fact I’m might be gone soon at this rate. If you don’t hear from me again I will miss you all dearly.

The older I get the less I buy in to these massive machines. I rarely buy team gear anymore. If it's not readily available I'm not paying extra. Once my reduced cell phone Disney+ plan runs out I'll cancel that. I haven't watched sports center in 10 years. I'll just catch online highlights the next day.

If it wasn't for the wife I'd get rid of netflix too and just watch YTTV and antenna

It's really freeing to be honest.

Eta: I know yttv is a massive machine but it's way cheaper than the Xfinity bill I had.

Eta2: get off my lawn

I've got an antenna that picks up ABC. If there's a game that I really want to watch on ESPN (mostly only college football), there are ways to do it. Anything else on ESPN is trash and I don't miss it at all.

In a fight between greedy billionaires, Disney is showing themselves to be the greediest and least concerned with taking care of their customers.

Reduction seems so far away for me unfortunately. I’m still in the adding services stage. lol.

Sure. If you don't care about watching anything on ESPN or ABC, then this is a moot conversation.

I'm assuming people want to see the content on ESPN / ABC. Many had received this from Youtube TV. Now that's changed and people are looking for how they get what they want.

'Very limited content' is worthwhile

AKA actual games, of which there's hundreds of others available at much, much more reasonable prices

I can afford to wait this out. and miss some games

The value of that content isn't so great that I'm willing to switch to an inferior service and reward what I view as pretty lame corporate behavior and strategy on the part of Disney. I'm just fine with Fox and my regional sports network on YoutubeTV - and will be indefinitely as long as Youtube cuts the price to reflect the more limited current offering.
