So, how and when does Harvey Unga (and any other players of interest in the supp draft) get added to fantasy rosters if your rookie draft has already taken place? Use the league's standard free agency rules, but wait until after the NFL supplemental draft has taken place? That probably seems right to me. Anyone doing something else?

I'd recommend just adding him into the free agency pool. Whether you use a waiver system, or its 1st come 1st serve, who ever gets cut for him is probably going to be worth more than Unga anyway.

We had this very issue. Dynasty start up in 2010, we did separate drafts and completed the rookie draft first. The vet draft took place starting a week later. We got to about the 38th round and as the commish, has to make a ruling on whether these players could be drafted. Because the player has declared his eligibility for the NFL by entering the NFL supplemental draft, he is eligible for drafting in the fantasy league.

Our league does not allow college players so the question was raised with the point made that Unga and others have not gone through the draft process so were not eligible. I would refute that point by the fact that if the rookie draft started on 1st April 2010, by that logic, no one has gone through the draft process and could not be selected in a rookie draft. Any player that is eligible for the NFL should be eligible for the league.

If the league only had FCFS then it would probably be fair to either wait until the supp draft or give everyone in the league a period of notice that these players would be added to the database.

If the league had waivers then there would be no issue as far as I can see in adding them to the database to make them available to all teams in your league.

I might try to sneak the guy through since our draft has been brutally slow this year and is still on going.

Whenever the NFL has a Supplemental Draft, Phenomz will also have their own Supplemental Draft approx. 1 week later. The Phenomz Supplemental Draft will be run the same way that the NFL does. Bids for a player can be made using the following season’s Draft picks that are owned. Highest bid gets the player and loses the pick that was bid. Value of the following season’s picks will be based on the timeframe of the NFL Supplemental Draft. If occurs during off-season or in-season between wk #1 thru #7, than the pick value will be based on the past season’s standings. If occurs in-season between wk #8 thru #16, than the pick value will be based on the present season’s standings. If a Supplemental player is acquired during wk. #14 thru #16 (our post-season), the player will be frozen and the team will receive a roster exemption.

Here is my ruling on Unga in the leagues I commish ----

Even though he wasn't eligible for the draft in April, he's making himself available for the supplemental draft and is in the myfantasyleague player database. Anyone that wants him now can submit an email to me and I will award the player based upon last year's finish on Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. CT. If no one wants him, then he's available for pickup on Monday morning as a free agent.

In my HyperActive leagues, which have already drafted, here's what our rules state:

XI. Rookie Draft:

A. The 4 round rookie draft will be held the second Saturday in May each year.

B. The rookie draft will be non-serpentine.

C. Any rookie that has been drafted and/or signed by an NFL team is eligible to be

drafted in rounds 1-2.

It's clear that Unga would not qualify based on the above if we were to hold our draft today. He is a rookie that has NOT been drafted and/or signed by an NFL team. So, if not eligible for drafting into our league today, he also logically cannot yet be eligible for WW pickup today.

Unga is not a stud, but someday there may be a stud in the supp draft, so leagues with rookie drafts prior to the supp draft ought to be sure their rules somehow cover this. In our HA leagues it looks to me like the WW rule is probably implicit in the draft section and we're covered that way.

The best way that I have seen mentioned in this thread (and also used) is to bid future picks for a player, with highest pick getting the player.

If there is a downside to this, I don't see it.
