Might be some desperate housewives in Dublin but I figure he'd at least have to go into Columbus and find some nice coeds or something.I really want to hear the thought process Sunday morning when he's slipping into his magical red Eye of the Tiger shirt down 17 strokes. "C'mon Tiger you can DO this" or "maybe if I turn an ankle on the first tee I can just ####### withdraw. Lindsey's in Tahoe and there is some prime talent in downtown Dublin."

Are the odds-makers just mailing it in?Tiger Woods is still the favorite (9/2 at the Las Vegas Hotel) to win the US Open. Rory next at 15/1.
It's about minimizing risk. When people stop betting on him, his odds will be longer. Pretty simple. Are the odds-makers just mailing it in?Tiger Woods is still the favorite (9/2 at the Las Vegas Hotel) to win the US Open. Rory next at 15/1.
Rory as the second best bet? It's almost as comical as a couple years ago when Tiger was getting his system clean and was spraying the ball all over courses like guys sprayed it all over Sunrise Adams and yet he was still odds on favorite. It's about minimizing risk. My mistake. I thought your comment was about Tiger alone, not Rory.Rory as the second best bet? Just wait till he wins a major! This thread is going to get historic. This might be the perfect thread. Every week Tiger plays, one side or the other is going to bump it and we can rehash all of the same arguments.Surprised Timmy is not in this one, he could carry on the whole back-and-forth with himself.
Saying that golfers today are athletes instead of ordinary people is pretty vague. Kinda pointless as well, as the human body can only take so much wear and tear before it starts breaking down, regardless of the care it gets. The golf swing is not a natural motion and every swing is slowly destroying the player. Yes the golfers today have better health care at their disposal, but the human body and spine can still only take so much.By the way, your example of Tom Watson is an interesting one. He was close at 59, but ultimately didn't win. He last won a major (1983) at the age of 34 with only 28 years of golf experience. Look at that top ten list of oldest winners I posted, the most recent one was 1990. Why has it been 23 years since someone has cracked that list? I'm guessing because the talent level and equipment advances have made the tour so much more competitive. That's why what Tiger has done is so utterly remarkable. IMO he's the best golfer to ever play the game.encaitar, on 31 May 2013 - 17:36, said:Honestly, those stats mean nothing anymore. Today's world is a completely different thing. Those guys were golfers. They played the game. Today's golfers are athletes. Almost every good pro golfer now has a nutritionist, a trainer, a sports psychologist, etc. Today's good golfers will legitimately compete until their 50th birthday with the shape their bodies are in.Add to that the increased knowledge in the medical field and we can throw the past out the window. If Tiger played 30 years ago, he would be done now. There would've been no coming back from a major knee injury like that to ever compete at the level he is at now. Look at Tom Watson competing at 60+ years of age in majors. Look at Freddie Couples doing the same. Both of these guys had broken down bodies that were repaired by modern science that allowed them to stay competitive well past the ages most past champions did. Now, take Tiger's drive to be the best into consideration and I have no doubt that he'll be competitive in majors well into his 50s if he hasn't already hung the cleats up as the greatest golfer of all time by then.

This thread may never die because the nuthuggers will never give up. See any Tebow thread. At the same time, Eldrick will never be what he once was. Those days are gone, see major wins over the past 5 years. This might be the perfect thread. Tiger "crushing" the tourney was really bold....I'll take McDowell. How's that for bold?Really bold.Prediction: someone else wins.
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you ALWAYS pick Tiger to win?1 week to the open. Very exciting
Prediction: Tiger absolutely crushes this tourney.
I picked Nadal to win the French.:superbold:Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you ALWAYS pick Tiger to win? Bold indeed....1 week to the open. Very exciting Prediction: Tiger absolutely crushes this tourney.
He'll win by 50 strokes!I said he would crush it. Absolutely shatter it. $$$
How many is he going to win by?I said he would crush it. Absolutely shatter it. $$$
You're wasting more time than lunch takes.Tigerbets:
John Bender = $500 when Tiger wins a major this year
gbacm = $200 when Tiger wins a major this year
zoonation = $200 when Tiger finishes ahead of Rory this year
zoonation = $1k when Tiger breaks Jack's record
I think one other maybe also with zoonation? Can't seem to find it in here...
I didn't realize they played match play next week.I don't think the Tiger/Rory matchup is going to help either golfer. I'm fading both next week.
Not really what i meant. Playing together is not going to help either of their games imo. Adam Scott might be the low scorer of the threesome. Fading them means i'm selecting other golfers to win tourney. Stricker and Furyk got a little of my money at 40/1. Gramme at 30/1 and Scott at 20/1. My flier pick is kevin chappell at 175/1. Sportsbook bounced him to 80/1 a day after i made my bet.I didn't realize they played match play next week.I don't think the Tiger/Rory matchup is going to help either golfer. Just those two for us. I may as well ship you the 200 for the Rory bet right now. He is lost.Tiger won't be breaking Jack's record.Tigerbets: John Bender = $500 when Tiger wins a major this year gbacm = $200 when Tiger wins a major this year zoonation = $200 when Tiger finishes ahead of Rory this year zoonation = $1k when Tiger breaks Jack's record I think one other maybe also with zoonation? unfortunately for you golfers can play in the majors into their 60's. You'll probably both be in nursing homes or dead by then.Just those two for us. If he hits it like he did at Memorial he will be right there. If he putts like he did at the Memorial he wont make the cut.A shorter course also brings a lot of good ball strikers into the mix. I don't think the course gives him any advantage whatsoever. If Woods hits it like he did at the memorial, he'll be lucky to the make the cut.
Gotcha. I didn't know the 3somes were out for day one yet. That should definitely be an interesting day one threesome. Not really what i meant. No clue why you didn't put some cap on how long the bet could take.
His putting was brutal but he also hit a lot of loose shots. The big misses also came out. Middle of the fairway on 15 off the tee in round 3 and he hits it 60 yards left with the 5 wood double cross. IT wasn't all the putter. He was all around terrible. If he hits it like he did at Memorial he will be right there. If he putts like he did at the Memorial he wont make the cut. Just an FYIA shorter course also brings a lot of good ball strikers into the mix. I don't think the course gives him any advantage whatsoever. Of course. That's what happens when you drop a cool million on a 175/1 flier. Not really what i meant. Playing together is not going to help either of their games imo. Will be there Friday as well.I'd be looking at Kuchar if I gambled on golf, although a few weeks in a row in the hunt might not be ideal going into the biggest grind of the year.
So I got an offer for a Friday ticket, complete with member tent and a place to stay but ended up turning it down and giving the spot to a coworker who has never been to an Open. If you like golf, you owe it to yourself to get to a US Open at some point, if only to see the course set up. It's pretty awesome.
sweet, iturned down a saturday ticket but i am heading over tommorrow and Wednesday just to walk aroundWill be there Friday as well. It's about 10 minutes from my crib. And I agree on Kuch. Possibly the most consistent golfer on tour and I'm wondering how much is because of his attitude. Guy never gets rattled, just keeps going over and over and over again. Seems like the most likeable guy on the tour as well.I'd be looking at Kuchar if I gambled on golf, although a few weeks in a row in the hunt might not be ideal going into the biggest grind of the year.
