Tiger Woods (6 Viewers)

Golf Channel / NBC has sunk to a new low in riding Tiger's coattails. Except for a brief graphic saying "Recording Earlier", they're acting like Tiger's round is happening live and showing every shot.

That's how they've always done it when weather forces an early start, Tiger or no Tiger.

They are giving the people what they want.

Tiger's putting is not very good this week.

I'm trying to figure out how he played hole 18. The thing I looked at said he hit his 3rd shot 17 feet and ended up farther from the hole. Did he hit a fat shank or something?

I haven't seen a single shot of play this week, but there's a pretty big slope in front of 18 green so he probably was short in two and then didn't get it up on the shelf and had it come back down the hill.

And then three-putted from five feet according to shot tracker. Triple with no penalty strokes...ouch.

Wtf is Woods doing out there?

Hitting his 3rd by the green after a 60 yard miss left, while Zack is still back in the fairway 120 yards still playing his shot from the fairway?

:implosion:

Edit: oof.

Ah that makes sense.

44 on the back nine. Highest 9 hole total ever for Woods. A couple doubles and a triple. Nothing o.b.

Yikes.

Let's still engrave his name on the US Open trophy before the tourney starts though...

Depending what exactly happened today, I think Kuchar might be the favorite (not betting) going into the US Open. Two doubles and a triple isn't just a little bit off, that's wheels off off. Almost as if he a) got hammered last night, or b) is looking to bet heavy on himself at the Open.

Is that legal for a golfer to bet on himself? If so Pete Rose picked the wrong sport.

lol @ thinking Tiger tanked at the Memorial so he could place a $10,000 future bet on himself at 5-1. :lmao:

Winning the memorial nets him 1+ million

Tanking and scooping a better price nets him 10 grand on the US Open

But, to answer your question...I would say it would be greatly frowned upon

Um...I wasn't serious. It is quite an anomaly for him to shoot his highest nine hold score as a professional in the midst of the tear he's been on at a course where he has won five (?) times.

There are some around here who think it would a big surprise if he doesn't win.Maybe I'm wrong.
He's still the favorite heading to the Open.
Oh, I know. But he's certainly not the vs. the field favorite he was back in his prime.
If four wins through mid-May isn't "prime", I don't know what is.
Clearly 4 is not a prime number.

But more to the point - who would you take Tiger v. Field at the Open.

In his prime - most would have taken Tiger.

On Wednesday of this week, I'd have taken him. Probably the field now.

What were those odds in his prime? Were they ever lower than 2/1?

So I guess we don't talk about it anymore when Rory is +6? It's just sort of "well, he's as good as Tiger, but hey Tiger's still not winning majors so they're about the same."

What a sham.

And don't get me started on the PhilNerds.
I would like you to expand on this one

Why are they playing the nines in the wrong order?

I watched a bit yesterday and was surprised to see #16. Totally different than when I was there in 2006 and watched Phil hole out an unbelievable bunker shot for a birdie.
