Perriman had a career high 69 targets with the Bucs a few years ago. Williams topped that once, 5 years ago when he was 24 and Keenan Allen tore his ACL WK1.
Hock will have a 20-21% market share this year. Swift / Williams are in line for a similar share of targets (85-90/45-50 split.)
Neither FA journeyman fits this quarterback in terms of route tree. Neither stood out at veteran minicamp in terms of observed plays or coaches comments. The Athletic thinks catching one TD in 7-on-7 non-contact drills is an indication he’s building a rapport. Most local beats wrote that play up as a half sentence (or ignored it) and focused on the consistent drumbeat of accolades being heaped on Cephus, Raymond, and ARSB. All of which means bubkis, the purpose of 7-on-7s is to install the offense and defenders are at a serious disadvantage by design.
Amon-Ra has been building a rapport on and off the field and has the coaches attention. St Brown has the skills and routes that match what Goff does best. Won’t be a boundary receiver but will be in the slot when they run 11 formations (66% last year, 71-74% previous two.)
I think Slot is his to lose.
Would not be shocked if Cephus or Chad Hansen or one of the bazillion UDFAs on the 90-man starts at the X or the Z. They’re not beholden to either of the vets on 1-year deals. Between the draft (2 first rounders) and FA they’ll add the alpha WR next year.
