Funny. 3 out of the 4 league I'm in don't require a TE and the reason is simple: one league has been going since 1995, and the other 2 have spawned from sub-groups of that original league. I find that most folks want to just play to have a good time and, especially if you're long time friends and coworkers, there isn't a big drive for change. We play for money and bragging rights and the competition is high every year, but we've been doing this so long I think it falls under the "can't teach an old dog new tricks" category. Very busy careers. Wives. Kids. Mortgages. All lead to "if it ain't broke...."

:shrug: whatever works for you and your league.  But it is interesting to see the difference in values with these different settings. That's why it's so important in the trade thread or others to include lineup, more so than "te enhanced" or possibly even ppr. (You did list it). The difference is especially big with rb - if your league only requires 1, that's going to change values big time from 2-3 in the lineup.

Same thing happened in my superflex draft.  I tried to trade up to get turbisky even though I don't like him.

Upside. If Trubisky only hits at Flacco levels it still doesn't help you much. You could argue 1 to 2 seasons of 2016 Kaepernick-like startabllity is more valuable than someone who won't be elite. You could ask Bloom because he has Kizer 11 places higher as well, although I doubt this team was following Bloom at all (they took Mahomes in the 2nd, he really needed QB and also got Kelly late).

I did, and here's my logic:

I think CLE is on the right path, and I think the Bears are a mess.  

I like Kizer's talent as much as Trubisky, and like his coach and front office better than the Bears.  Heck, I like his surrounding talent, and path to playing time better too.  

I also took Derek Carr over Bortles so BAM!!

 
Quest FFL does rounds 3 and 4 on August 26th (middle of week 3 preseason) so some good rookies with opportunity still on the board and we'll get to see what they can do. Those first 2 or 3 picks in the 3rd round could be huge.

Kizer had 472 rushing yards last year and ran a 4.83 40, Trubisky had 308 rushing yards and ran 4.67. Not exactly Kaep vs. Flacco.

It's kind of baffling how much people hate Trubisky.  He's a duel threat QB but he gets ripped for not having upside.  

Picking QB's drafted in similar range like Mahomes/Watson makes sense, but taking a QB who fell so much lower in the draft like Kizer over him is odd.

Kizer also had 18 rushing TDs in 2 years. I feel it was obvious my reference to Kaepernick and Flacco was more about production and staying power than playing style. If you want to give player comparables, it's easy to go with McNair as Kizer's NFL.com profile does. McNair did not run fast either but reliably put up rushing stats because of his style. If we are talking comparables instead of production, you're right it's not Kaep vs. Flacco but rather more McNair vs. Stafford. Those are mentioning the upside though; more likely Tarvaris Jackson vs. Joey Harrington if we are talking reasonable expectation.

I agree, the trubisky hate is ridiculous, and really only because the bears gave up a couple thirds. They stay at 3 and take him it probably doesn't generate as many negative headlines. The jets move up to 2 and take him and jets fans boo but are probably happy they don't have to watch McCown/hack.

As a Bears fan, you nailed it on the head. Giving up two 3rds and a 4th for a guy who 90% was going to be there for you at 1.03 is what is generating the hate. People would've questioned but accepted Trubisky at 3 without too much trouble. Instead we paid more than the 1.01 is worth for a guy that some teams didn't even have as the top QB on their board. If it had been an Andrew Luck level prospect that everyone knew was the consensus #1 guy, different story. The Bears got too infatuated with a guy and went full ham for him instead of standing pat and taking BPA with a roster full of holes.

I wont bore you with another full rookie draft, but wanted to share our picks, have a first and second place finish in the 2 years of this league, we went a little off script...

1.11 - Marlon Mack - sooner or later, Indy will find that dynamic RB, we think Mack might be the guy
2.03 - Deshaun Watson - we needed a QB, Eli and Siemian are our 2 before this pick.
3.06 - James Conner - we have L. Bell
4.11 - Jordan Leggett - has the size and ability, needs to put effort in to become the NYJ TE
5.11 - TJ Logan - long shot, but maybe he gets some PPR points, heard he could lineup other places than just backfield.

We have one open roster spot we can bid on any free agent, Grimble is a wild card/long shot at TE.  Mays, RB from GB is a longer shot, and a bunch of WRs no one wanted in our rookie draft.  We'll probably bid $1 on a bunch of guys and be happy with whoever we get.

I am not at all bored with the subject material. However, when someone posts their rookie draft, the expectation is that they will post the entire draft, not just the picks for their team in isolation. Knowing what only one team picked, without seeing the context of the overall draft is operating in a vacuum and of little value.

The point is that people came to this page to see completed rookie drafts.  For someone to just post their picks "because he doesn't want to bore us" is just plain stupid.  Not only that but how can we know the context of his picks if that's all that's listed.
