By the way, if the Falling Leaves songs aren't added to the list, it's because I'm taking a small trip to get vaccinated for the first time tomorrow. I'm quite happy about it (cross fingers for no serious side effects, please) but I'll be in and out during the day.
The first shot is fine.  The second one makes you grow a tail.

Oof. So I've been hearing. My brother was laid up with Pfizer's second shot for about two and half days. We're pretty close genetically, to the point of sounding so alike that my niece has to concentrate to figure out which one of us is talking because she says we sound alike but construct sentences differently.

So what did I sign up for? Pfizer, of course.

BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY

251.YM - New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down - LCD Soundsystem

But they shuttered your stores
When you opened the doors
To the cops who were bored
Once they'd run out of crime

New york, you're perfect
Don't please don't change a thing

Your mild billionaire mayor's
Now convinced he's a king

So the boring collect
I mean all disrespect

In the neighborhood bars
I'd once dreamt I would drink

New york, I love you
But you're freaking me out

Dude, I meant a literal tail.  Let's try again:

The second shot turns you into a cat.

BRIGHT LIGHTS BIG CITY

252.YM - Compton - Kendrick Lamar

When I'm back in the back of my city, back in the 'bach
With a batch of them banging Dre Beats with me, look where I'm at
It's the murder cap' and I'm captain at birthing this gangsta rap
It's a wrap when I'm done and I come a long way from a hundred dollars a month
To a hundred mil' in a day, ##### I'm from

Compton, Compton, ain't no city quite like mine

So come and visit the tire screeching, ambulance, policeman
Won't you spend a weekend on Rosecrans n-word

So what did I sign up for? Pfizer, of course.
I saw a tweet yesterday that made me think.

------

"Went my whole life not knowing who made the vaccines I was given.

I miss those days."

------

This is true of me as well, I don't know if I'd say I miss those days but I literally never thought or cared about who manufactured any other vaccine I've taken in my lifetime. I like that there's more transparency in terms of who is making what but I guess it's the general trust in science/medicine/research/expertise that I miss.

Anyway, I post these types of thoughts in here now instead of the Political Forum. Growth!

All his blurbs in his countdown contain misinformation - I used to try and correct him but instead I basically just stay out of those threads.
He also said that only women and gay men listen to Soft Cell. Which actually undermines his assertion that they were New Wave as opposed to Synthpop.

Yup, I did specifically mention that song.
Damnnnnnnn... :lmao:

I listened to it last night. Nothing -- I mean nothing -- like my ninth grade self remembered it being. I remember being in ninth grade and it rocked so hard and so was cool...the interplay! Geoff Tate's asides really set the time and place...

10 A.M./I feel the rain coming down

I'll bet the Operation: Mindcrime album sounds a whole lot different through ears twenty-five or so years older than that kid who was listening with the walkman on the way to hockey practice. I'll bet bits of it still rock. "I Don't Believe In Love" might still hold up pretty well. Tate did have incredible vocal range. I remember their next album Empire being a bit of a hit and being let down because they'd mellowed out a bit with songs like "Silent Lucidity" and the like. I used to be so into metal as a kid now that I think about it. Way into it.

If I don't go political -- and I wasn't really too much feeling what I delved into this morning save one -- I'll have another for the Boneyard next pick. Very underrated band I remembered last night. The album I used to dig still really holds. They're from Eephus's way, and I think they won a Grammy recently, which means they're wiggity wap.

I know the album but can’t claim to have listened to it much even then. It’s not that I didn’t like Queensryche, it’s just that I had no reason to care enough about them to delve in. Probably my loss. Maybe I’ll give that record a stream and see what I think now.

I need to give them a shot because the one or 2 random songs I've heard by them (hello Last Action Here Soundtrack) I have liked.

Dumb question but can someone plainly define what a concept album is and isn't
I guess traditionally it’s an album (a lot of times double) that tells a single story from start to finish. I think you could surely stretch it from there even down to a general “feel” from start to finish.

If you searched the term you’d get some ideas of what fits.

Yeah, I was wondering how much leeway there was. Is a unified theme enough? Or does it need to tell a story.

This.  I gave it a listen last week when I was thinking about it for another channel.    I mean it still works as a cohesive story, but honestly I don't get caught up in that quite like I used to, but songs still kick ### like The Needle Lies, Eyes of a Stranger, and I Don't Believe in Love.
