When I do these yearly countdowns following Tim and Bracie, it amazes me how little Neil's stuff in any given year resembles what the dominant sounds were at the time. He just did what he wanted to do, with some editing from Briggs. Now, it helped that his status with CSNY afforded him the kind of artistic freedom that few musicians ever get. It's kind of been forgotten but CSNY was a HUGE deal in the early '70s and everyone in the industry fawned over them. They could have approached Beatles status if they'd been able to keep their #### together.

A couple years ago, Graham Nash said that he, Stephen, and Neil don't talk to Crosby, and they don't want anything to do with him. Crosby burned a lot of bridges with people in the music business, but most of all he burned them with his bandmates. Neil said Crosby should write a book entitled "Why people don't talk to me anymore."  Anyway, I saw CSN in the 80s, and there was definite tension between them on stage.

I think about that sometimes when watching an old show how the actors look young, but back then I thought they looked old.  Last night the late 70s movie Magic (Anthony Hopkins and Ann-Margret) was on TV, and I watched it. I haven't seen it in decades. I remember thinking it was so creepy and a bit scary when I was younger, but it wasn't scary now. It was still a bit creepy. They look young in it, but back then I didn't think so.

 
I’m listening to the Meta-static playlist. Despite no real rhyme or reason for these songs to be lumped together (other than the gimmick) but it works.

so far the songs I never heard before that I really liked are Sun Kil Moon (heard of the band but never listened) and Mystery Jets.

so far the Stones and T-Rex have the most shout-outs with 2 apiece. Speaking of which I’ve heard the Kris Kristofferson song before but never really thought about how weird that song really is, especially for Kristofferson.

This Neil Young guy is on almost every playlist I’ve heard so far - he must be very popular.

Today it is supposed to be 93 out.  I just walked and was shaded most of the way, and I am hot.  It got me thinking that Thursday begins the long weekend of being on top of a Virginia mountain in a cabin with no running water or AC.  Woohoooooo!

For whatever it's worth, the long range forecast for my part of the VA mountains is low-to-mid 80s Thursday through next weekend.

There are live versions of '39 on Spotify that could be put on there instead.  I searched the spreadsheet before taking it.  Wonder if the apostrophe is missing?

I think about that sometimes when watching an old show how the actors look young, but back then I thought they looked old.  Last night the late 70s movie Magic (Anthony Hopkins and Ann-Margret) was on TV, and I watched it. I haven't seen it in decades. I remember thinking it was so creepy and a bit scary when I was younger, but it wasn't scary now. It was still a bit creepy. They look young in it, but back then I didn't think so.

It has electricity, and so I am bringing a big fan. Two as a matter of fact. It says it has a flush toilet.  How exactly do you flush a toilet with no running water? Am I supposed to put a bucket of water in it to flush it down?

Yep, and that was all reiterated in the CBS Sunday Morning segment they were on recently (about the new deluxe version of Deja Vu). 

The cracks really started showing after Crosby said some terrible things in 2014 about Daryl Hannah, whom Neil had left his wife for -- but I get the sense there was more to Crosby's ostracism than just that. 

In the early '80s, before Crosby went to prison and kicked hard drugs, Crosby was a complete mess. He appeared on the Daylight Again album and the tour for it only because Atlantic Records wanted him to. Stills and Nash were not enthusiastic about that and it probably showed on the tour. If you saw them before 1985, that's what was going on.

When I saw them in the '90s (without Neil) and the '00s (with Neil), there didn't seem to be any tension.

Neither listing has an apostrophe.  I searched the word "Queen";  but since I knew I'd drafted it, I expected a positive result.

It is, but when I put it there, it takes it away. Can't handle apostrophes before numbers for some reason.

I searched "Queen," but it had like 40 results, and in the frenzy of getting in our picks I didn't want to take the time.  Since "39" would give even more results, I tried the apostrophe trick.  Now I've learned something about Google spreadsheets.

@ditkaburgers can attest to my love for Ms. Moore. I'm surprised I didn't draft for Pop2K or something months ago.

This LA song is from her most recent album which unfortunately was released one week before shutdown last year. It's a lovely piece of work with assists from Mike Viola and her husband Mr. Mandy Moore from Dawes. She's shooting for a retro 70s Ronstadt/Fleetwood Mac sound and manages to stick most landings.
