The perception of media bias is often biased itself. That is, you see what you want to see.
Many people often see opinion pieces by the WSJ (which leans right) or the NYT or Washington Post (which lean left) and it colors their view on the stance of where their actual news journalism lies, despite the fact that these outlets tend to be fact-based only in their reportage.
For me, while NPR leans left, their actual news reporting is (in my mind) very fact based and fair. BBC and Reuters are good sources of unbiased journalism IMO.
The majority of the MSM definitely leans left. That being said, is cable news still the major platform for the future? AT&T just announced they will try to sell CNN. The Big Mouse is cornering off ESPN ( which made a massive push to woke up/go full lefty at the sports crowd) and it looks like cable in general is going to take some hits.
This is one possible advantage of conservative news, they are forced onto social media platforms/mobile platforms which might be the future of news.
Vice through HBO was very interesting, it was like a modern version of street level 20/20 but it too got mainstreamed.
I don't believe most accessible news is "fact based", I think it's constructed to be click bait/shock marketing while riding the line of doing just not enough to actually get sued for something.
Conservative oriented news suppression happens because the radical left ( which the DNC won't stop because they need their votes and money) makes conservatives look moderate in comparison. Candace Owens sounds very rational ( she's got those crazy psychopath eyes though..) when she's denouncing the most ridiculous parts of the woke/cancel culture.
The MSM isn't the biggest factor, it's the American workplace. Obviously COVID19 changes everything, but the woke/cancel culture in the workplace will do more to drive more undecideds and moderates to the right than any broadcast. What Expensify did was a test marker of the problems of politicizing the workplace ( CEO email blasted 10 million people, many who were not actual clients of them but only existed on lists via their employers. He did so with the approval of 2/3rds of 19 of his top "performers" in a company of 140. Since some of his emails went into Europe, he violated the GDPR and it's clear he was trying to use shock marketing to push his brand )
When the wokeness invaded sports, movies, TV, books, music, news, shopping malls, general mail, everywhere, it's just going to drive people to conservative outlets.
You don't win hearts and minds by cornering people and demanding silence or submission. There is a growing platform that's being monetized by Steven Crowder, Tim Pool, Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, Hodge Twins, Outkick, etc and it's becoming larger for a reason.
The make or break point will be 2024. The cancel culture will have four years to spread more out of control and then will have to contend with Dan Crenshaw. You can't cancel a Navy SEAL and Ivy Leaguer who gave his eye fighting for America. The liberal MSM will try it and it will create a massive backlash against the major media pundits. The DNC won't be able to stop the radical elements from going woke on Crenshaw and the end result will mean the loss of the military vote and the law enforcement vote full stop. This will cause a ripple effect on lower level elections that spin red instead of blue. No one can control the mob, ancient Rome figured that out first and no one will stop the mob from shutting down all the socialist leaning Democrats.
It won't look like the DNC hates Dan Crenshaw, it will look like the DNC hates America and freedom. The MSM will be part of that liberal echo chamber that will think it's a good idea until they realize it's blown up in their faces.
It's not news anymore, it's "political porn" and the DNC doesn't realize in 2024, through self inflicted horrible strategy, they will be the featured guest in bukkake party.
