Short answer - 1 too many QB, 1 too few D and K. Way too many RB. 1-2 too few WR.

would like this team MUCH better if you had a second D and K. Has anyone ever progressed deep into the SL with only one of each? Bye weeks is an automatic goose egg and you have to have redundency for when they lay up stinky weeks.

QB: Brooks (3), Grossman (6) - Brooks is being underated and is easily a top 12 QB with top 5 upside with the weapons in Oakland. I'm not high on Grossman and think Griese will challenge. That said, Chicago has stuck with and gone back to this guy so he should be starting during Brooks' early bye. Probably a middle of the pack duo. Grade C

RB: Caddy (4), T. Jones (7), Perry (5), Faulk (7) - Definately not one of the elite stables in this league. I do think I got great value where I drafted Jones/Perry/Faulk which allowed me to make hay elsewhere. Perry and Faulk will give my something besides a donut at the backup position. Actually Perry was a serviceable RB2 in this format last year. Grade B-

WR: Owens (3), Galloway (4), Bennett (7), Booker (8), Caldwell (6), Carter (9) - Pleanty of horses in this stable. Ownes will be top 5 and Galloway will post enough scoreable weeks that he'll be equal to a WR1. I like Bennett and the prospect of Volek starting could make this pick huge. Booker should do well with C-Pep heaving it deep. Caldwell is a nice safety valve and will get plenty of receptions in a NE offense that spreads the ball, even if he ends up as their 3rd WR. Many of you already know my stance on Carter. I wouldn't be surprised for him to outpace S. Smith in homerun balls. I expect about six 12 point weeks from Carter which will be huge in this format. Grade A

TE: Heap (7), Troupe (7), Alexander (4) - Heap will be knocking on Gates door when healthy. Troupe's bye week sucks, but he was too big of a value to pass for a lesser TE. Alexander is strictly bye week filler. I have reviewed all the rosters yet, but this group will arguably be the best in the league.

D: Carolina (9), Indy (6) - Peppers and Freeney. I wanted turnovers and sacks in this scoring system. Both D's will give up yards and points, but will post some huge fantasy weeks. I jumped on the D's early as to give me extra firepower when I was hurting at other positions due to byes. Carolina shares a bye with my WR6 and Indy with my QB2 and WR5. I'm a big proponent of using the trash positions to assist during the weaker weeks. Grade B

K: J. Brown (5) - Only shares a bye with my RB3. Draft Brown solely becuase of his bye week. One kicker can be dangerous, but you have to take some risks to win a 16 team league. Definately an acceptable risk. Grade D

Overall I think I will advance into the second half of the season. What I don't like is the upside of this team at RB and this likely will prevent me from contending for a title. I will likely hang around until the teams that hit big on their fliers run me down late in the year. Grade B+

I don't care for this team. Leinart was waste with Manning having top billing. If you ever need Leinart's score, you won't be contending anyway. Despite having 6 RBs, I see this group in the lower half of the league unless LT gets hurt. Your WR corps are too thin and you have guys that will completely disappear for several games. The single K and D has already been discussed. You better get immunity in week 5 because week 6 will be your death. Manning off, 2 RBs out, only two WRs in play, Jolley at TE, and no kicker. Ouch. Good thing this isn't a pay league as you'll be getting a free education this year.

This is definately a solid team, even if slightly unspectacular. I feel like its pretty similar to my team, which makes sense since we picked right next to each other. The only real differences imo are that you are stronger at QB and D and I'm stronger at RB and WR.

I completely choked on checking bye weeks with my 2nd pick and of course it bit me, my first two RBs have the same Bye week. Ouch. But getting Julius Jones in the 3rd round certainly softens that blow quite a bit. Jimmy Smith pick here is just brutal ... I would like my chances a lot better here with him playing. Without him, my WRs are nasty. :yucky: I felt like I was doing good with a mix of safety and upside, got few nice value picks I thought with JJones (3.6), RodSmith (6.11), and Heath Miller (8.11) -- After Jimmy Snigff retired, I went into a bit of a panic and had to take WRs in rd 8 and 9, I think I would have liked to have taken a safety valve for CPalmer here otherwise.

I'm not thrilled with my team...the combination of the bonehead bye week problem (week 5) and my #### WRs means I'll be suprised if I make it past the halfway point. Palmer may be the deciding factor in all this...if he's injured/comes out of the gates slow, I could be gone early. If he comes back like Gangbusters, maybe he can carry me a bit. We'll see.

My team

QB: Bledsoe (3), Simms (4)

Bledsoe was a top 10 QB last year, and he added Owens in the offseason, if Parcells can keep him upright he'll be huge. Simms seemed to be gaining confidence all last year, which I expect to allow Gruden to open up the offense when he needs to. B+

RB: Rudi (5), Droughns (6), Gado (6), Calhoun (8)

Rudi and Droughns are a solid 1-2 punch at RB, Gado has a chance at contributing early in the season if Green and Davenport are still injured. Calhoun will take over 3rd down and receiving duty sooner or later, hopefully by week 6 as I'll really need him then. B-

WR: Walker (4), Kennison (3), Keyshawn (9), Curtis (9), Holmes (4), Northcutt (6)

There's a little bit of concern over Walker's knee which makes him a little risky as a WR1, however, I can envision a scenario where he becomes extra motivated to show the league that he deserves to be paid as an elite WR. Kennison and Keyshawn should be consistent scorers. Curtis may be able to overtake Bruce as WR2 this year. I think Pittsburgh will open up the passing game a bit this year and Holmes will come on later in the year. Northcutt will be valuable to my team in that he will be starting in place of Braylon during Walker and Kennison's bye weeks. B+

TE: Shockey (4), Pope (9)

Stud TE's like Shockey are huge in these leagues, Pope has a clear path to the starting TE role and with his size will be a mismatch for defenders in the red zone. A-

PK: Vanderjagt (3), Kasay (9)

I went kicker back to back right before the run really began, and this should be a strength for me all year. A

D: Eagles (9), Saints (7)

Definately my teams weakness. Philly is ok, I really only picked them because I liked their bye week better than the other teams I was considering. By the time it came back to me, every even mediocre defense was gone, so I decided to just ignore D until my last pick. The Saints will do for an 18th round pick. C-

Short answer - 1 too many QB, 1 too few D and K. Way too many RB. 1-2 too few WR.

yes and my problem will be lack of WR's numbers also..i just did not want to take a stab at a guy as a fifth WR in the last two rounds who may not do much of anything, although there were still many I liked I just did not want to pick one out of the hat..but this could very well be my downfall here..wish i had at least one more..

I have Warnar and am not so sure that Navarre wont be first off the bench this year for Ariz. as long as they are in it and why I took a back up Boller instead..

A couple of mistakes have doomed this team. Four WRs will be the death blow to this team. Between injuries and byes, you will have weeks where you don't even post a score. In a start 3 league, you need people posting scores. This could have been easily corrected. Eric Johnson was a wasted pick. How many weeks will he outscore Gonzo? Gonzo's bye week was early and didn't conflict with your other players...you should have gone solo at TE and hoped for the best. Northcutt would have posted more scores for you then Johnson will. With Akers in hand, did you really need an extra placekicker? This was another opportunity to add a WR. I really like what you did at QB and RB. Hopefully some nice scores there will cover your severe WR deficiency.

We'll see.

Sans Smith, this would be one of picks to contend. Great job drafting for value and assembling a very balanced team with upside.

I think you graded yourself too harshly here and were too low at RB and especially defense. Good show here.

I'm sure you'll do better than my team, but in a nutshell, you took alot of playes I don't like. Probably out the week after I go (week 2-3 :D )

I am not a FWP or Dillon fan, so I don't like the RBs one bit. Definite weakness. I think the WRs are weak as well. Muhammy has a bum throwing the ball, Glenn won't see 1/2 the targets he did last year (due to TO and other stuff), and the others are WR3-4 at best.

I think you took your QB2 way too soon (plus I was planning on taking Vick next :hot: ) before upgrading the other areas.

Love the QB/TE/PK/D spots, but I see 5 big weak spots each week for you.

Not too proud of my showing here. I tried to gamble and got burned way too often thinking guys would fall. I'm putting myself down as the most likely to go out first.QB-- :bag: . If we had 20 roster spots, I woulda added McCown. Went quantity over quality when I gambled wrong about the QB2 run. All I can hope for is one of these four guys puts up decent numbers each week. Odds are not good, this position sucks.RB--if I have any strenght, its this spot. Pairing a horse like Portis with possible fantasy monstes in Bush and LD White should be great each week. I'm a huge LDWhite fan, and think he's a shoo-in top 20 this year. Even if I'm wrong (and Pat is right), should be a decent unit.WR--Solid, not great, not bad. If I wasn't so weak at QB, woulda added more. In retrospect should have taken Doug Gabriel over Byrd in rd 17. Chambers and McCardell should be solid, Brown should get targets in PHI and be a solid 2-3 at worst, and Crayton and Williamson are threats to pop out big weeks every now and then. Could definately get some zeroes here w/injuries.TE--Wish I had my Cooley pick back. Could have gotten far better value with Ben Watson later. Shoulda taken a QB here  , meh. Decent.K--Longwell. MehD--Actually like the GB/DET pairing. Really like GB defense this year as well. I admit to really only playing in IDP leagues, so I didn't do any homework outside of looking at schedules when making these picks.Love to hear some feedback on what I did good/bad. First survivor draft for me (obviously).

I'll be reviewing every team in detail, including my own, hopefully much faster than I did in PDSL.

General statements to the Noobs....

General rule of thumb is draft 2x your starters. 2 QB, 4 RB, 6 WR, 2 TE, 2 K, 2 D. That's generally speaking. Had Faulk been there at Rd 17, I'd have taken that value and gone 2-5-6-2-1-2, since my K had an early bye.

RB1 is valuable. RB2, meh. Committee for 2 often.

WR1 and 2 are valuable. Committee for 3 often.

TE valuable.

QB valuable, but not as much as you'd think.

I think everyone got a feel for where the runs go and what runs out each time.

I'm pretty happy with my club considering I was saddled with a middle pick.

Having not participated in a survivor draft previously, I decided to develop my own roster strategy rather than learning from the prior mistakes of others. At least I didn't pull a Duckboy and draft two kickers with the same bye.

My idea with drafting just one kicker was that the weekly differential between two kickers wouldn't be as great as two defenses - and I had decided early on just to draft either one K or one D. My plan on kicker was to take one with the earliest possible bye week - take my goose egg with the highest possible number of teams available for elimination - theoretically improving my odds of not being worst. We'll see if that works . . . :P

Other than that I'm relatively pleased with my team - a few reaches based on player health, but some of the healthy ones today won't be on the field come September - we just don't know which ones. I do wish my WR3 was a bit stronger, but my byes are pretty well spread out so maybe somebody will step it up each week. Looking forward to hearing the opinions of others . . .

Pick Pos Player Team BYE

06.14 QB5 Drew Brees NO 7

07.03 QB9 Brett Favre GB 6

B

They should hold their own. In this format I feel a QB committee is better than one stud and I like to use the 1st 5 rounds to get solid RB and WR starters so, by the time I drafted QBs it was down to QB16 and I took 2 back to back - As it turned out, the QBs on my next pick were pretty crappy, While I don't love Brees or Favre, they are more than adequate together.

01.03 RB1 Shaun Alexander Sea 5

04.14 RB27 Curtis Martin NYJ 9

05.03 RB74 Dominic Rhodes Ind 6

11.03 RB999 Maurice Drew Jac 6

B+

Picking from a position where I could get a Big 3 RB, I wanted to then lock up 2 wr spots and then see what came around as far as RB's in rounds 4 and 5 to form a committee. At this point in the preseason there's a lot of uncertainty in the RB's along with the rookies that made me feel I would be able to get RB value later. I have since downgraded Martin a bit, little did I know he's apparently not 100%. I had every intention of backing up Alexander and/or Martin but got beaten to the punch - I would have liked my squad better with a handcuff and maybe the sexier Deangelo Williams in the mix over Martin or Rhodes figuring those guys might get the earlier carries where Williams could get more later - A nice Combo...

Made the flashy pick with Maurice Drew - A risk but, really I don't think it cost me and I did go for it cuz my wish list of sexy players were getting sucked up at this point in the draft. If anything my 2nd TE might have lost a little value to Bubba Franks, maybe not?

02.14 WR10 Randy Moss Oak 3

03.03 WR15 Reggie Wayne Ind 6

08.14 WR44 Isaac Bruce StL 7

12.14 WR45 Justin McCareins NYJ 9

10.14 WR50 Michael Jenkins Atl 5

18.14 WR98 Peerless Price Buf 8

B

Locked up 2 good #1 WR's and then formed somewhat of a commitee.... Even among Jet fans I'm one of McCareins biggest supporters, I just don't think he can be judged on what we have seen with the offense he's had to play on in NY along with his injuries. Offense has to be better, hopefully he stays healthy - He is a hard worker and that's half the battle.

09.03 TE12 Jerramy Stevens Sea 5

13.03 TE23 Bubba Franks GB 6

C

Meh, I waited on Te's obviously - I can only hope but, there is potential here.

I could have had Pollard or Kinney if I bypassed Maurice Drew or tried to get him later which was a possibility but, again, this was a draft spot where I just saw most of the guy sI wanted get snatched right before me.

16.14 PK17 Josh Scobee Jac 6

17.03 PK29 Mike Nugent NYJ 9

14.14 DEF5 Ny Giants NYG 4

15.03 DEF18 San Diego SD 3

OVERALL:

B

I like my team, would have done a few things differently and I know drafting in the top 3 in nice in this format. Did my first Survivor last year and drafted in a bottom spot and felt behind the eight ball the whole time trying to catch up..Funny thing, as bad as I thought that team was, I did Survive a while - So Goes early Survivor leagues. Felt that was a lesson, then did the Quorem Draft with the Capt and that's a fun little twist trying to make the draft faster which we obviously didn't need here  GREAT Group of considerate drafters!!!!!! Not that it's a race but, it's nice to be able to draft and keep tabs on things without waiting days to pick.

I think this team can compete - At this point, it's all up to injuries and questions that will be answered as the season approaches... I like that I was able to wait on RB2 - RB3 and looking back, I think there's still opportunity to grab later RB value with handcuffs to unsure team situations....

Also - Just wanted to add - Thanks BnB, Jeff and everyone... I Love doing these SSL's and I'm available for more drafts as we go... I think THIS is where it's all at as far as Fantasy football - The Laboratory, so to speek where it all gets hashed out, discussed and you can get a great feel for where players should be valued with a group of real knowledgeable Football Fans. Great Stuff!!!!

04.16 QB22 Marc Bulger StL 7

09.01 QB44 Charlie Frye Cle 6

18.16 QB16 Gus Frerotte Stl 7

Decent QB pairing. Bulger was about a half round reach, but you need to do that sometimes when you pick on the ends. I think Frye should be a steady contributor and as tempting as Mr Nall was, it just made more sense to grab Gus in case Bulger goes down.

01.01 RB2 LaDainian Tomlinson SD 3

07.01 RB41 Frank Gore SF 7

17.01 RB49 Tony Fisher STL 7

06.16 RB999 Laurence Maroney NE 6

Probably the weak part of the team, although LT may be able to carry me. I'm counting on Maroney, Gore and Fisher contributing RB2 numbers and I think they can do it. Especially if I make it later in the year when Maroney is likely to be getting more action and when it's more likely that Fisher has taken some of Faulk's looks.

03.01 WR9 Hines Ward Pit 4

11.01 WR38 Ashley Lelie Den 4

02.16 WR41 Darrell Jackson Sea 5

08.16 WR57 Mark Clayton Bal 7

13.01 WR63 Chris Henry Cin 5

Great group here. Ward and Jackson should be solid. Lelie, Clayton and Henry should provide a good mix of WR3 numbers that I'll need. The strength here allowed me to short this position by 1 in order to back up Bulger with Frerotte.

05.01 TE3 Jason Witten Dal 3

10.16 TE19 Ben Watson NE 6

Should be a very solid group. Witten should get more looks this year and it's not as though he was horrible last year. Watson may be ready to break out after his performance in the playoffs and with Givens gone.

15.01 PK1 Jay Feely NYG 4

16.16 PK24 Sebastian Janikowski Oak 3

Decent, but nothing fancy, especially SeaBass.

12.16 DEF6 Tampa Bay TB 4

14.16 DEF9 Cincinnati Cin 5

Two defenses that should put up excellent numbers every week.

Overall, I'm very happy with my team. I'd be pretty disappointed if I didn't make it to week 7 or 8. After that, luck will have alot to do with it.

Quarterbacks

04.16 QB22 Marc Bulger StL 7

09.01 QB44 Charlie Frye Cle 6

18.16 QB16 Gus Frerotte Stl 7

Absolutely had to get a QB at the 4/5 pick. Frye was a nice value at 9.01. Bulger needs to hold up for decent production, but Frerotte's a serviceable backup. Tough to have to carry 3 QBs - likely hurts somewhere else as a result. Going for a 2nd QB at the 6/7 pick might have been a better move.

GRADE: B+ due to depth.

Running Backs

01.01 RB2 LaDainian Tomlinson SD 3

07.01 RB41 Frank Gore SF 7

17.01 RB49 Tony Fisher GB 6

06.16 RB999 Laurence Maroney NE 6

Two RBs on Week 6 will hurt. LT2 - well, RB1 is covered. Had a chance to get Turner a few times, so that is some risk there, but he did go rather early at 10.01. Don't understand taking Tony Fisher over Marshall Faulk. Gore and Maroney likely competing for RB2 committee role.

GRADE: B+ due to LT2.

Wide Receivers

02.16 WR41 Darrell Jackson Sea 5

08.16 WR57 Mark Clayton Bal 7

We have some issues here. Only carrying 5 is an issue. Two pairs with the same bye is an issue. Have to hope Lelie goes somewhere else to a team not off in Week 4 or 5. Ward, DJax, MClayton all good selections. If this group stays healthy (which is a big IF with DJax) and Lelie and Henry can get on the field, it could surprise. I don't like the risk and lack of depth, and the bye week issues.

Two good TEs - I expect less from Witten due to TO attention. Glenn and Crayton will likely perform better, and less may go Witten's way. He's still a Top 15 TE. Watson? Who knows in NE - they have what, 20 TEs? - but he has the raw talent.

Kickers

15.01 PK1 Jay Feely NYG 4

16.16 PK24 Sebastian Janikowski Oak 3

Two kickers, no bye issues, and in fact two early byes. Could have gone with 1 K and taken a 6th WR, IMO.

Defense

I think WRs will be the downfall here. LT2 will have to really step up in Weeks 4 and 5 to compensate for the issues at WR. If CBoy gets through Week 5, he has a decent shot to advance, but just 5 WRs hurts this team. I liked it better with Faulk over Fisher and a 6th WR instead of a 2nd K or 3rd QB.

08.09 QB13 Mark Brunell Was 8

06.09 QB18 Ben Roethlisberger Pit 4

This is an alright pairing. Not confident thatBrunell will last all year, but should put up some great weeks while he plays. QB in survivors is overrated by most; I survived 5 weeks in QSL last year with no QB (ASmith not starting and CPep injury). Some points each week, with decent potential. B-

01.08 RB7 Lamont Jordan Oak 3

10.09 RB34 Michael Pittman TB 4

07.08 RB39 Marion Barber Dal 3

09.08 RB43 Greg Jones Jac 6

Great RB1 in a ppr format, though I don't expect 70 receptions this year (likely closer to 50-55). My tiers kept drying up 1 pick before mine (thanks Bass and Jeff), and skipping to the next tier didn't make sense until that one dried up as well by the next pick. The other 3 RBs may get chances with injuries, so it'll have to be RB2BC. C-

02.09 WR5 Marvin Harrison Ind 6

03.08 WR6 Santana Moss Was 8

04.09 WR22 Derrick Mason Bal 7

13.08 WR74 Robert Ferguson GB 6

12.09 WR89 Charles Rogers Det 8

18.09 WR61 Corey Bradford Det 8

I like this group. Harrison/Moss/Mason are a great top 3 and will carry this team most weeks. Ferguson will get some looks, and Rogers/Bradford should put up points in Mad Mike's system. Definitely the strength of the team; only issue is week 8 when I'll only have 3 possible scores, but others should be hurting more that week. B+

05.08 TE9 L.J. Smith Phi 9

11.08 TE14 Erron Kinney Ten 7

LJ should get a lot of receptions with no true WR1 in Philly. Kinney is adequate as a backup and may get me a couple of big weeks. B

16.09 PK9 Jeff Wilkins StL 7

17.08 PK15 Rob Bironas Ten 7

Whoops on the bye weeks. But given these guys should put up decent points week-in and week-out, I get a guaranteed gooseegg versus 2 possibles. And I'm willing to bet a 1-yr FBG subscription that having a league avg kicker (or even more particular, Kris Brown which is who I should have had) will not make the difference on whether I am eliminated in Week 7. D

14.09 DEF12 Minnesota Min 6

15.08 DEF13 Arizona Ari 9

Two defenses that will have lots of opportunity to put up a lot of turnovers. May not get points for keeping down scores though. B-

Overall, this team will likely not be getting any immunities; boom potential for ultra-high weeks aren't there, but the bust potential is also lower imo. Not much really to be done with a middle pick. A few breaks in the RB department, though, and this one could work out decently. For now, I think this team beats the pretenders but can't hang with the big guns. B- and out sometime around week 8-10.

Quarterbacks

06.15 QB21 Byron Leftwich Jac 6

09.02 QB39 Alex Smith SF 7

14.15 QB999 Vince Young Ten 7

Three quarterbacks - again I don't like that in this format. Hurts depth in other places. Leftwich is a good talent, but these are some really questionable QBs at 2 and 3. Granted 28 had gone already, so I might have just rolled the dice here and/or grabbed Garrard if I wanted a 3rd QB to cover Leftwich.

Running Backs

01.02 RB3 Larry Johnson KC 3

04.15 RB83 Cedric Benson Chi 7

03.02 RB999 Joseph Addai Ind 6

18.15 RB68 Travis Henry Ten 7

Solid RB1 in LJ. Benson could get the start in Chicago, so that was a nice pickup in Round 4. Addai was a reach IMO. I don't see him contributing as much as many think and the job may be more for Rhodes than Addai. If I was going to get Addai in Round 3, I'd probably be taking Rhodes in Round 4 rather than Benson. Betting a lot on RB2 on Addai - but RB2 is not as critical as many think.

GRADE: B+ due to LJ and good RB2 committee

12.15 WR80 Mark Bradley Chi 7

15.02 WR999 Greg Jennings GB 6

Six WRs and two #1 WRs to boot. Good core group there. Some bye and depth issues though - 2 off Week 6 and 2 very young players. Bradley is a "virtual" rookie coming off major knee surgery, and I'm not sold on Jennings. He's behind both Driver and Ferguson, and rookie WRs don't usually perform much, especially in PPR leagues. Lloyd and Clayton are good values.

GRADE: A-

Tight Ends

08.15 TE10 Dallas Clark Ind 6

11.02 TE47 Zach Hilton NO 7

Who's this Zach Hilton guy? ;) . Hate having to let that cat out of the bag, but that's why I work here. As long as I get him in most of my drafts this year (especially high stakes) I'll be happy. Good value in Round 11. Dallas Clark will perform well as Indy throws more again this year. Hopefully he stays healthy and Fletcher doesn't steal TDs.

GRADE: A (Hilton, come on!!!)

Kicker

17.02 PK26 Jason Hanson Det 8

One kicker is risky. One kicker with a late bye is riskier. Fewer teams in Week 8 - more likely to get the boot. Dome stadium with a team that stalls in the Red Zone Helps.

QBs may hurt here, but I like the RB situation. WR is a bit too young for my taste, so the 6 warm bodies won't help as much. One kicker with a late bye not the best strategy. Decent team, but may fall apart down the road.

GRADE: C+

Tight Ends

04.13 TE7 Chris Cooley Was 8

17.04 TE999 Dominique Byrd StL 9

While talented, Cooley won't produce like he did last year and a TE in Round 4 other than the Top 3-5 guys is a risky proposition. Cooley was helped by Washington not having a WR other than Santana Moss last year. ARE and Lloyd are there now. Byrd - STL drafted Klop as the TE first over Byrd. I don't expect a ton from Byrd this year, and probably next.

Good pair, no conflicting bye. Not a great pair, but defenses can surprise. Both could. Ending on a good note.

Overall

Early exit candidate. Too many QBs, too few RB vets, only 5 WRs. All three will bite this team and cause an early exit. After Portis as RB1, should have gone WR-WR at 2nd / 3rd pick. Better luck next time.

Only five, and 2 share a bye - luckily early in Week 3. Chris Chambers has to be the WR1, and hope Brown and McCardell are the 2 and 3. Williamson and Crayton will have to come from nowhere to contribute much other than a week or two. Again, not thrilled with this team.

GRADE: C+

GRADE: C

Kicker

16.13 PK27 Ryan Longwell MIN 6

One kicker with a middle bye (6). Kicking indoors now so that helps.

GRADE: B with not a 2nd K.

Defenses

15.04 DEF16 Detroit Det 8

14.13 DEF23 Green Bay GB 6

Good pair, no conflicting bye. Not a great pair, but defenses can surprise. Both could. Ending on a good note.

GRADE: B+

Overall

Early exit candidate. Too many QBs, too few RB vets, only 5 WRs. All three will bite this team and cause an early exit. After Portis as RB1, should have gone WR-WR at 2nd / 3rd pick. Better luck next time.

OVERALL: C-

Agree with the overall analysis. :(

I think I can hang for a bit with this crew.for my first draft of the year with any meaning I'll take it. I wish I had one more WR and no Suggs and I hope I make it past week nine which I have a few key guys on bye..but If Warner (if if If i know) can stay upright and I hear his oline is shaping up nicely so far then maybe I can make some noise in this thing...only took the one D yes as I Had to decide between a back up TE..5th WR or another D..wanted Tenn but after reading up on Johnson and having no back up for Gonzo i took the TE..like my chances of finishing in the top 1/3 or better..one of you hack up this bunch for me will ya? I bet you will! lol

OK you say I am doomed then..I will take my chances ESP. against this team

Now..you are talking about bye troubles...Bass..you have NO CHANCE to make it past week 7..surely you realize this, Right? If I don't finish ahead of this team I may bury my head in the sand..

Gonzo is older and can miss games at any time..but I was really thinking about going WR with the pick,,I just had 10 different WR's I was interested in..all of which had the chance of doing nothing most weeks anyway. If Warner stays healthy my team will be just fine..All I have to do mis make it to week 7 to beat your team..I mean really what is your line up going to look like for that week, what were you thinking taking all those week 7 players? Talk about mistakes...

My Team:

Great Stuff!!!!

this team is intersting as long as Brees is good to go this team shold stick around..as will ACP team..to bad about Jimmy Smith or he would be one of the favoties so far that I have looked at

OVERALL GRADE: B+

Disagree with your WR assessment quite a bit. I think it's as strong as anyone else's in the league. And your data dump missed Fisher changing teams. He's a Ram now, so he and Gore share a Bye week, not he and Maroney. I think that Faulk is basically done and Fisher will supplant him early in the season. We'll see.

Sorry, didn't tweak Fisher above on the RB list but I wrote it up with him on the Rams in mind.

To your WRs - one by one.

Ward - WR1 in Pitt, but not many catches. Not as valuable in PPR.

Lelie - Where is he playing? He could sulk and be a WR3 in Denver - we know how valuable Charlie Adams was last year. This COULD be a wasted pick.

DJax - Came back for the playoffs, but was it too early? He just had his knee scoped - again. I like him, but his body won't let him play.

Clayton - Solid WR1/2 in Baltimore. QB situation holds him back. I think this is your WR2 on your club.

Henry - Again, he's the 3rd WR on a team that has a balanced attack. I don't see a lot of balls coming his way.

Throw in 2 shared byes and a C+ is pretty accurate.

Well, here are their ranks by weekly average (to account for DJax) last year:

Jackson - 9th

Ward - 13th

Clayton - 53rd

Lelie - 55th

Henry - 61st

I'd say that's pretty strong in a 16 team start 3 league prior to off season adjustments and buy worries. Probably an A-.

Now, add in Jackson's injury issues. OK, valid.

Ward not good in PPR? Didn't seem so last year. Young QB is a year older. Veteran power RB retires and WR2 moves on. I just don't think that's valid.

Lelie - Bit of a crybaby, IMO, but did pretty well last year as WR2. Correct that if he stays in DEN, if Walker is fully recovered, and if Smith doesn't begin a rapid decline in skills due to age, then he should be a downgrade. But all 3 of those things could still be reversed.

Clayton - QB issue, true. But McNair would help and Boller did look alot better at the end of the year.

Henry - Balanced attack is true and WR3 is true, but that's a pretty high powered attack with Palmer healthy. He does have some legal issues though.

Byes - True, but my top 3 WRs (Ward, Jackson and Clayton) all have different byes. So I won't be missing 2 of them any one week. Plus the byes are early.

Overall, I can see a downgrade from A- to B. But a C+ is way off, in my opinion. Thanks for doing this though.

I think SOMEBODY is a little upset that he lost Mr. Cobbs ;) .

Relax man - I gave your team a B+ overall. C+ is closer to accurate than a B. I'd could see going to a B- or B if Lelie finds a home where he is starting.

As it stands today you have 2 WR3s that won't be on the field terribly much. I gave much of my lower grade towards that and DJax's inability to stay healthy. I still believe Ward doesn't catch enough balls (he'll never get back to 100+ catches). Last year he caught under 70. Anomaly? Perhaps. I just wouldn't want Ward / DJax as my 1 / 2.

You should be competitive. Overall it was a pretty good draft. Good luck. I'm sure we'll do this again.

I bet you will! lol

OK you say I am doomed then..I will take my chances ESP. against this team

Donny

I seem to remember you talking this trash last year in the Anarachy league where you finished in the cellar well behind most of the teams while I finished in the top half. Warner will probably be injured by week 7 so you won't have a QB that week. Griese won't start the year. As long as Grossman plays week 3 I'm statisfied. One QB is sufficient in this league and this has been documented on numerous occasions. Week 7 won't be an issue for me as I'll have my QB1, RB2, RB3, 5 WRs, will be fielding a TE, and have all my trash position players posting numbers. Troupe in the 10th and Faulk in the 19th were huge steals so bye adjustments had to be made.

Go find a shovel because once again you'll be burying your head after competing against me.

Ok, we're all taking shots here, so I will jump out of order and put my squad up next.

Then I'll do 5 more tomorrow and the final 6 on Friday.

Quarterbacks

04.08 QB4 Eli Manning NYG 4

07.09 QB26 Brad Johnson Min 6

This is a solid pairing. Johnson always performs well, and Eli put up great numbers in his second season last year. Neither byes conflict, and Minnesota faces both GB and DET twice for extra scoring chances. Both QBs are blessed with solid TEs and pass catching RBs, so the passing offense will be in full force for both.

Running Backs

01.09 RB11 Steven Jackson StL 7

06.08 RB30 Fred Taylor Jac 6

10.08 RB81 Duce Staley Pit 4

12.08 RB999 Cedric Cobbs Den 4

I got lucky - plain and simple. No way Fraud Taylor should have been there in the 6th (and he was REALLY there, unlike the Chris Brown entertainment in Round 8 :bag: ). SJax in Round 1 - I would have preferred Lamont Jordan who went just prior at 8, but you can't win them all. SJax / Taylor should be a nice pairing. Cobbs is a 12th round flyer in case he gets some carries in Denver. I hear good things on him, but it is May and consider the sources. Duce Staley will be a nice help on bye weeks if he gets the "Bettis role" in Pittsburgh.

GRADE: B

Wide Receivers

02.08 WR4 Larry Fitzgerald Ari 9

03.09 WR12 Donald Driver GB 6

08.08 WR40 Joe Jurevicius Cle 6

09.09 WR43 David Givens Ten 7

14.08 WR64 Jabar Gaffney Phi 9

18.08 WR67 Doug Gabriel Oak 3

After the PDSL draft, I knew I had to focus harder here. Fitzgerald and Driver at 2/3 are going to lead my squad, and having a Top 5 and (what I believe is a) Top 15 WR as my WR1/2 combo is solid. I don't like the bye issues (2 6s, 2 9s) late, but the talent overcomes that. Jurevicius will be the #1 WR in Cleveland with Edwards out until at least October. (I almost picked Travis "Travelling Willbury" Wilson at 18.08 but didn't want to risk the byes any more). Givens is a big target and will be a nice WR in Tennessee. Gaffney was a STEAL in round 14. He will be the #2 WR in Philly and will wind up with 60+ catches. Gabriel was a later flyer with a decent bye week. He was drafted about WR80 in PDSL, so a slight bargain. He has big game possibilities as well.

GRADE: A

Tight Ends

05.09 TE8 Randy McMichael Mia 8

11.09 TE18 Jeb Putzier Hou 5

Not the total TEs I wanted (Zach Hilton, where are you?). McMichael is a PPR machine. He will finish Top 10 at TE again this year with little fanfare. Putzier will breathe life back in to the TE position in Houston, something missing since Billy Miller left a few years ago.

GRADE: B+

Kickers

16.08 PK8 Lawrence Tynes KC 3

17.09 PK16 Kris Brown Hou 5

OK - I really almost went with one kicker. Had Marshall Faulk been there still in Round 17, I was grabbing him. He would have been too good of a pairing / handcuff with SJax. That's why I went Tynes at 16.08 - early bye (3). That way I could take a zero and live if I only went with 1 K. I knew I'd go PK2 if Faulk went, and that's what happened. Good pick, BnB :hot: . Kris Brown and Tynes will put up good points for me.

GRADE: A

Defenses

13.09 DEF7 Miami Mia 8

15.09 DEF30 Cleveland Cle 6

I loved this pairing in PDSL - which fell in my lap as the schedule wasn't announced until the last 4 rounds of the draft. Miami is on a bye? Cleveland plays the Jets. Cleveland on a bye? Miami plays the Jets. Love that.

GRADE: A

Overall

I really think I got a great team here, despite some risktaking at RB2. WRs are solid, QBs and RBs as well with Fred Taylor falling to me. Could have gone better if some more people fell, but you can't ask for everything. Picking in the middle was tough. Reacting rather than dictating runs was problematic. There seemed to be easier teams to draft against in the bottom half of the order, so if I left a talent go back to the top I knew he was gone (Reggie Brown, Zach Hilton, Marshall Faulk, Maurice Drew - all casualties). Can't get them all. No major bye issues other than 2 WRs off (out of 6) in Weeks 6 and 9, but that should be survivable. Week 6 is toughest with Taylor and BJohnson also off, but after that this team should be a Final 4 candidate.

I just noticed something about DTs team. Isn't Buleson in Seattle now? That would give him a week 5 BYE, and, combined with Johnson's bye that same week, could spell trouble.

:banned:

Edit to add: Probably not. Those are his only 2 players off that week.

Ok, we're all taking shots here, so I will jump out of order and put my squad up next.

I don't see two QB1s here. I'd grade this out closer to a B+.

GRADE: B

Again I think you're being a little generous. You're definately in the lower half of the RB squads. Good value for what you spent, but we're rating production, not draft acumen. Grade C+

Wide Receivers

02.08 WR4 Larry Fitzgerald Ari 9

GRADE: B+

Again I think you're high. A middle of the pack TE1 and a putz does yield a B+. I'm thinking B-.

Love that.

Dude, anyone drafting Cleveland doesn't warrant an A. Grade B

Week 6 is toughest with Taylor and BJohnson also off, but after that this team should be a Final 4 candidate.

OVERALL GRADE: A-

Despite bumping several of your grades down, I'd grade the overall product at a B+. I don't think you got good value with your TE picks which prevents me from giving this team an A. Shuffle those TE picks around and you could have made a strong team a dominant one.
