One thing about the fountain view rooms - they are really awesome with great balconies, but we would probably get a lower room next time. I think we were on the 45th floor or something, and we couldn't hear the fountains or music. I would guess the 20th floor or so would be really great (the high floor was great too, but it's just something we will do differently next time).
This is pretty spot on. We were in a Wraparound on the 27th floor in the Chelsea Tower. We could hear the fountains real good and could barely here the music.

One thing though, if you are in the Boulevard Tower the 20th floor may be a little low. Some people reported that the Bellagio sign blocks part of their fountain view.

Just ask the cabby to take you to the closest/best one nearby.  They'll know where to go.  There's one just across the freeway on Flamingo headed towards the Rio.  Probably the closest to Caesars.  Agree with the guy who said to hide it from security.  Get gummies if you're gonna use it inside Caesars.
I'm not sure this is the best plan. I'm hearing it may be like cabbies and strip clubs - the drivers are getting spiffs (and/or spliffs) to direct customers to certain dispensaries. You may not necessarily be taken to a good one, just the one that is currently paying the most to the drivers. YMMV.

" I have got 5 kids to feed".

I am Titanium Elite with Marriott and got upgraded to a wrap-around suite with the Bellagio fountain view for free. They have a special check-in line for Marriott members, so be sure to go in there. If I remember right, it's actually a little room sort of thing to the left of the check-in desk. I really like the Venetian Sports Book. It's not far from the Cosmo, and they have nice TV's. You may get lucky and get a seat since it's a late game. But if you go there the night before and place a decent-sized bet, you can ask for a reserved spot and they will probably give it to you.
Define "decent-sized," please.

I’ll usually bet $1,000 or so on the Sunday games and have never had a problem reserving two seats all day. I’d bet a few hundred would be good for one seat. And a lot of times you don’t even need the reserved seats - there are a lot of empties for the late games.

Any dining suggestions for downtown/Fremont Street area?  Not looking for 5 star but not looking for a hot dog stand either...

Went to Oscar's a few years back. Not the best steak you'll ever have, but tough to beat the atmosphere right at the end of the Fremont St experience. Last month, went to Hugo's Cellar with the wife. We were both several "5-skull drinks at Frankie's deep" beforehand, so I don't remember TOO much about dinner. But I believe the steak was really good

And of course, Pizza Rock is the best pizza in LV for a less formal dining experience. Went to Chicago Brewing Co on the recommendation of someone in here I think, but it was overrated to us. Sorry that's the extent of my downtown LV dining knowledge

Right next to Pizza Rock is Triple George Grill, food and drinks are top notch. Carson Kitchen in East Fremont too.

Heading out to Red Rocks tomorrow.  Any recommend trails on the easier side? Fitness less a concern than trails which are hard to follow

Hugo's Cellar is great.  Cool, speak easy type atmosphere and the steaks are very good.   Vic and Anthony's was probably the best steak I've had in Vegas.  Pretty spendy though.

These are the two sites I use for info. Ice box canyon is one of my favorites for an easier hike. Red rock doesn't have a lot of tough fitness hikes with easy to follow trails. Even turtlehead peak is fairly difficult to follow and that's one of the 14ish hikes listed in the pamphlet.

For tough fitness with beautiful views and perfectly marked trails I always reco the spring mountains rather than red rock.

You could also try Black Mountain. Awesome hike. Cool black volcanic rock. Great views and it is well marked and a bit of a burner.

Ended up hiking Calico Tanks trail in Red Rocks, which was pretty good.  Decent amount of scrambling and a great view of the Strip.  I walked a bit into Ice Box, but just didn't have the time for another before heading back.

Were the tanks full? Not sure if I have ever been on that trail in October. Only february and july.

If scrambling is your thing, that opens up a ton of awesome hikes in red rock. Best part is most of them avoid the scenic loop and the fee.

Just booked for February. Girls wanted to see Aerosmith so going on Thursday the 13th. Better seats available than Sat and got aisle on the catwalk 10 rows from stage. Staying at Aria. Need to find light seafood restaurant that night pre show, as next night for Valentine’s Day we booked Bazaar Meat - Jose Andres place. Doing tasting menu. Other couple has been and said it’s glorious.
Mix in some sports book action and maybe seeing Phoenix play at Mandalay Bay Fri night.  Fun weekend

I put play on fourteen different player's cards today. Seven places on the Strip: down $290. Seven places Downtown: up $440. The sample size is admittedly small, but the conclusions practically draw themselves.

Lost 500 playing black jack and won 550 playing 8 16 Omaha 8.  Was nice to start day 1 not in the hole.

The best gambling is anywhere that caters more to locals.  The strip gets millions of guaranteed visitors per year. Casinos for locals require people returning to them in the form of repeat business to survive. One of the bigger locals chains is Boyd casinos--and they have a spot or two in downtown. I can't say that I'm super surprised that you are more successful gambling off of the strip.

Depending on your budget we ate at Milos in Cosmo last night.  The Santorini menu before 6:30 is $49 per and a great meal.  Main menu looked amazing.  Get the grilled octupus as the starter.  Just unreal.

The tasting menu at Bazaar Meat was one of the best meals of my life last month.  Truly special.  The cotton candy fois gras is amazing and I am not a fois gras fan at all.  Just a superb meal.

Alright bit the bullet and booked Opium for the December trip.  Hope it's decent.  Was torn between doing that and getting tickets at the Intersect festival to see Foo Fighters. But GA only and couldn't get the wife behind a festival.  Do want to see Foo Fighters though....

Friday dinner at Julian Serrano Tapas before Jason Aldean concert

Saturday dinner at Nobu for sushi then Opium at 10pm

Sunday we'll play by ear.  I'll see what tickets are on Craigslist that look good. Rodeo and a bunch of concerts in town.

Opium is a good show. Saw it in September. Enjoyed all but one of the acts.

I am thinking of trying to go out for the Foo Fighters.

Heading to Vegas tomorrow for a work conference. Staying at Mandalay Bay. Have never stayed there before, much less that far down the strip. Any insider information of bars/restaurants/lounges on location that are worth a stop?

Eating onsite at Border Grill tomorrow night. Bringing out 10-12 people so I needed something that was reasonably priced and available for that many. This looked easy and decent. The clientele is a Mexican & Margarita type so this should be fine.

On Tuesday I am going to Scarpetta at Cosmopolitan for a smaller dinner. There's only six of us. Looking forward to this one more than Border Grill because it's more my style when dining in Vegas.

Wednesday night I have to attend a function so I won't be able to get out and go anywhere on my own. Would have liked to have gotten back to Lotus of Siam, Sear Sucker at Caesar's (for the bone marrow alone) or Best Friend at Park MGM but I probably won't have the time.

We really liked Libertine Social and of course Strip Steak.  Still bummed we didn't hit Strip Steak last trip after we got too full at Hell's Kitchen for lunch.

Strip Steak has a braised beef dish that is just out of this world. Love it.

Buddies trip in late October, we ended up at Ellis Island 3 out of 4 nights. Barbecue is pretty good.  Odds are way better than on the Strip.  Karaoke sucked us in the last night.  Highly recommended for cheaper, "realer" evening.

Good ole Ellis island.  I've never stayed there--but I've certainly enjoyed their cheap and famous Steak special several times.  Now that you mention it---I've also had decent luck there on their slots and their video poker.

Some recent recommendations, since I was there with the wife for my 40th in September and then with a group for a wedding in November

The September trip, we hit a lot of the regular spots that we mostly heard about in this thread (Frankie's, Peppermill, Yardbird, & Mon Ami have become the big 4 must-hits every time we go now). Also made it over to Hugo's Cellar. The ribeye was awesome from what I remember, but we were really banged up from pre-dinner cocktails at Frankie's. Three "5 skull" drinks and a Kahiki Kai for me was a biiiiit much after day drinking by the pool all afternoon. Other new dining spots were Rose.Rabbit.Lie. at Cosmo and Mott 32 at Venetian. I expected Rose to be more, I dunno, snooty or something. Not sure why, maybe because of the way they write it out. But after some drinks at the nextdoor speakeasy, we got inside the restaurant to find a guy tap dancing on top of a piano and a large woman in a bushy blonde wig singing show tunes. Fun night. Mott 32 was just incredible. You'll spend all your winnings there, but it's worth it. We let the waiter recommend a number of small plates, and each one was better than the one before it. Easily one of our best Vegas dining experiences overall, and really unique drinks too.

First two nights at Cosmo, most of the days spent day drinking at the Boulevard pool. Very laid back, awesome views. We moved over to Venetian for the last two nights, and I don't love what they've done with the pool over there. They've added a lot more seats, but they chopped the pool up into like three sections to accommodate the additional seating. Anyway we went over to the Palazzo pool where there was more room. Side note - we actually stayed at the Linq the first night we got in. We're from NJ, so to beat the jetlag we fly out at nigh and stay up as late as we can the first night. Wake up the next morning at normal Vegas time and boom, good to go. But since we're only gonna use the hotel to sleep that first night, we just go with whoever offers a cheap deal. Got a nice discount at the Linq and I'll tell you, the room was pretty good for the price. Had our own private little patio with some couches that led directly out to the pool through a gate. Had brunch at Hash House. Big portions, but the food quality and atosphere weren't on the level of Mon Ami.

Far as night time options, don't ever go to Little Darlings. It was horrific. Salvaged the night elsewhere thank goodness.

Tried out some new bars (Downtown Cocktail Room on Fremont, and The Dorsey and Rosina at Venetian). Stuck with the Chandelier when we were at Cosmo, where my drunk wife asked an equally drunken bachelorette party if any of them wanted to come back to our room to help us celebrate my 40th. God I love that woman...

Second trip was for a wedding, but we still had downtime to do our own thing for most of the week. Stayed at Encore. I had never even been on the property before since it's so outta the way. I gotta say, I really loved everything about it. The lobby bar at Encore makes one of the best old fashions I've ever had. And there is a combo bar called Parasol Up / Parasol Down with really good drinks there too.

Ended up booking Top of the World at the Strat for dinner the first night. Really unique experience for sure. The food wasn't bad at all, but the experience is definitely the star of the show there. Hit up Velveteen Rabbit for post-dinner drinks and then took a driverless Lyft over to Peppermill. That was something else, definitely recommend it just for the coolness factor. There was a safety driver human in the driver's seat, but he literally did nothing the entire time. Second day was the wedding so we were kind of at their mercy. Dinner was at Carmine's in Caesars, nothing new but at least solid. Brought the gang back to Cosmo for verbenas, which were well-received by all.

We did a big group dinner at Lakeside at Wynn the third night. The setting is great if you can get a table by the "lake". I called for the reservation and mentioned we had a group of 12 who were in town for a wedding for my cousin who is a marine. All the buzzwords guaranteed we were getting a great lakeside table, which was perfect. Again really laid back atmosphere, and they do shows every half hour on the lake. At one point, an animatronic frog comes out and sings "What a Wonderful World", then they had a show with these balloons hovering across the top of the water in sort of a light show display. All very cool, and food was good too. The bill wasn't even that bad now that I think about it. I think under $200 per couple, although some people didn't drink which kept it down a bit.

We all went to see Le Reve after dinner. Thought it was a really good show, albeit a bit slow at times. Expected a bit more acrobatics, less water dancing. We got seats in the very top row of the theater which helped see things overhead. Those seats also come with a monitor so you can watch what's going on underwater. I could've done without that to be honest, didn't really add anything to see that people were wearing air masks underwater. Brought the gang to Frankie's on this night, and we all got stupid on Kahiki Kais and Fink Bombs.

Last night we were on our own again, so we went to Sinatra. Food was outstanding, ambiance seemed like Sinatra himself was gonna show up any minute and request his usual corner booth. And the Sinatra Smash was one of the better drinks I had there. All in all, two very successful Vegas trips. Hope the reviews help, happy to answer any specifics about any of the spots we went to

Now even better! They have opened The Front Yard, which is a two-story sunroom with 200 seats. Basically a bar and restaurant, with a little VP at the bar.

Yeah, Ellis Island rules.  I was there in late October as well.  Had a great time with their $5 blackjack.  They had a spinning wheel (costs an extra dollar) that would pay out up to $1000 when you were dealt a blackjack.  Fun times.

And I think their new beer garden is opening this weekend.

Scarpetta was fantastic. Highly recommended. Have some connections so I was able to snag the Chef's Table on short notice and really impressed the clients with that. One side of the room has a glass wall with sightlines right into the kitchen. The other wall looked right out at the Bellagio Fountains. With tip and a few bottles of wine, we were right over $900. Wasn't bad for 6 people. Will be back in January for another conference and will try and get there again. It was that good.

First time having Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. That's some good stuff.

I think we have a new ritual. Needed a massage but stayed at Elara and no spa. Plus hate the $200 for 50 minute feather dusting rip off at most casinos. So checked on Yelp. Took a $10 Uber ride to Good Thai Spa Massage on Flamingo. Right down from the street from the Rio. Fantastic 90 minute Thai/Swedish combo with hot stones, deep tissue, stretching etc. for $105. Me and the Mrs walked out like butter. Highly recommend.

Great tip, thanks. Did you see Robert Kraft there?

Liked Julian Serrano so much we went back there Sunday night before seeing Opium.  Had the paella.  Really good.  Nobu was pretty good.  First time.  The spicy garlic scallop dish was outstanding but small.  Sushi was very fresh but surprisingly very few options.  Straight forward rolls - hand roll or cut.  Don't go looking for a 911 roll here.

Opium was interesting.  Had a bizarre scene with a heckler and his wife in the front row.  Entertaining and some decent Cirque type acts but it's nowhere near Absinthe.

Went to Sports Book at the Bellagio and then Planet Hollywood since it was close to Elara and we were limited with time.  Will say Planet Hollywood was extremely generous with drink tickets.  Had mounds of 'em.

Saw Jason Aldean at the Park. Not a bad seat in the house - I would be happy sitting anywhere and won't overpay for a closer seat.  Nice tribute to those involved with Route 91 tragedy.  George Strait was solid as always.

Oh, and the late night pizza upstairs at NYNY saved us a few times.  Always great.

I've added this place to the list for an upcoming January visit. Going with my wife and another couple (not a camping trip). Staying at Cosmo in a suite facing the fountains. Seeing David Lee Roth at the House of Blues. Will have two nice dinners - one I know will be at Andiamo (The D) and the other is TBD. Thinking maybe Yardbird (haven't been there yet) or maybe someplace closer to Cosmo - TBD.

Here are the massage prices at the Cosmo.  2.5X.  Good Thai Spa not as luxurious (strip mall) so it all depends on what you are looking for.  We'd rather spend the money on nice dinners, concerts, etc.  The spas at these casinos are rip offs.

Yeah, the spa prices at strip hotels are ludicrous. Almost never worth it. The only thing I can think of I really enjoyed was an "access" pass at the Canyon Ranch Spa (Venetian). That was awesome. But the massages and services? Simply not worth it IMO.

Wife is there now.  She had me look at spa stuff. Massages were running about $5 a minute after tax and tip and that is without a happy ending.

Facials are somehow even more. Like $8 a minute.

The spa day pass is where it's at.  Ceasers is usually the best rated day pass.
