Joe Needs Your Help - Bringing Back The Old MyFBG (1 Viewer)

In previous years, I relied on FBGs because the league syncing made it so easy to identify potential trading partners, set multiple lineups quickly, etc. I thought the ranks were good enough. I just spent 20 minutes going through a tedious "sync" to find out it didn't work. I went from using the site every day in season to checking Bramel and Harstad's columns occasionally. I don't want submit a ticket and wait days to maybe solve my problem. I've had to move on. My current solution is to use the "pickemfirst" add in for mozilla. Essentially I have to pay an extra 12$ to someone else to use FBGs at all.

I am really glad they found the time to launch the new basketball site. The site I pay for is totally unusable but hey, look at this brand new site we started! Hahah, that felt great.

As I said last week, I requested a refund. I haven't heard a word back.

My main money league is composed of two 12 team conferences. The old system managed it just fine. The new one cannot.

It is basically useless to me. Yet I did pay for it.

There was a small glitch this morning with the cloud server. I believe it lasted less than 20 minutes and was resolved around 7.30 EST am.

It was probably responsible for @BigBlue_RI 's issue

@Hankmoody please can you resend your email? I do my best to respond to everything there.

I am unaware of any issues to MyFBG except for the following:

- some multi-conference and multi-division leagues

- rosters need to be manually synced using the "Sync rosters for all leagues" link

- you need to login separately to the cloud site

1) is something we are continuing to look at. 2) and 3) need breaking changes to how we have set things up so can't be tackled before 2017. But, we are working on those right now so we can test those changes this year.

To explain 2 and 3). We were planning on providing MyFBG features through that new my.footballguys system. We didn't get that to you guys soon enough to get it to a state we felt was acceptable to subscribers so implemented a bridge to MyFBG Classic (hence this thread).

That in turn though meant we were running two systems and that led to both these issues (as the new site would have auto-synced for you in the background instantly as soon as you login, but MyFBG Classic is unable to send those requests as it uses PHP, which means we can't trigger syncs from your browser).

In addition we have solved a number of issues in last week's release and releases prior to that. I think an accurate status report for the system right now, is that it works, but you need to sync rosters manually. If anyone is seeing anything different, as always please email apps@footballguys.com. Thanks.
Hi Footballguy.
Your request (7702) has been received and we've got our guys looking at this for you. We know nobody's got time to be having problems - especially with Fantasy Football.

I'm not sure how it's possible to not respond to a documented system ticket but there you go.

I'm sorry if I missed your ticket. As I said, please resend and I will respond. I am about to respond to some now.

I have just made some more fixes that should make this run more smoothly for the second half of the season. If you've been having difficulties, especially with conference leagues ( @Payne ), all should now be working. Please email apps@footballguys.com with your username and the name of the league if not.

To my knowledge, there isn't a league now that worked in 2015 that doesn't work now, outside of Fantrax.

Just to reiterate again - the team that was responsible for Hoopsguys was completely separate from the team that was looking after the this new system.

We have made huge progress towards our plans for 2017 in the background. I am really confident that this will be even smoother than before and we hope to have more than the rosters linked up too. 2017 will be a much better experience; better than 2015 and 2016 for sure. Hopefully these changes smooth things out for this year some; it's just the auto-sync that you guys are missing now.

The multiple divisions and conferences still does not work. I gave up weeks ago. But checked it today in hopes it would be working for the playoffs.

Still waiting to hear about a refund. Basically paid for something that does me no good. Had I known this ahead of time, obviously I wouldn't have paid for it.

Nothing personal Simon. Just speaking the truth.

We've found much more accurate weekly projections. We've got Draft Dominator replacement that is light years ahead of both the Classic desktop version, and the crapfest of an abortion "online" version that came out this year.
Care to share with us what "we" found? Would love to compare those tools and use them, if better than FBG.

Rather than bringing back the old MyFootballGuys, they should try to bring back the Old Footballguys. This site has gone downhill.

Top200 going foward sucks. Lots of issues with my FBGs. The projections aren't great.  Even the weekly reviews are bad. A player can get hurt in the second quarter and not return, but no mention of it in the recap. Just some blurb that targets were down this week or stopped getting targets in the second half. What are these boxscore recaps?

Had several good weeks.  Mind you, this pretty much required me using one known-good setup: Chrome on my home PC.

Last week, a bit buggy, very slow sync.  I know sync is supposed to be slow and latent and all.

This week, just won't sync.  Lack of meaningful error messaging.

No confidence in the product.

An update on what plans are for 2017 would be swell.  Agree with the others, this is a lost year.

If FBGs want to avoid total implosion, they have to get rid of 90% of their meaningless, useless amateur articles, get down and really focus on data-driven projections -- hire a few DFS pros to do just that -- ramp up the dynasty content a thousand-fold (unbelievable to me that this is not covered with any degree of seriousness), provide instantaneous news updates (what sleeperbot does is fantastic, and that FBG hasn't integrated this yet is astounding), and add a few medical experts (e.g., concussion specialists, neurologists, neuropsychologists) outside of Bramel to provide more comprehensive injury analysis.

This thing is really close to spinning out of control.  Nobody cares about Joe's attempt at the Random Shots article each week, but what we do care about is that the time spent trying to be Peter King could be put to better use managing better software and informational content.

wholeheartedly agree. ..and yes...sleeperbot is the ####.  LOVE it.

As a small tech team, we have finite resources to get all of our projects done.  We did not anticipate all of the issues we had with getting this to work.  We did not anticipate our other tech tasks going way over schedule and giving us inadequate time to test, trouble-shoot and do things the correct way.
And hopefully this is another lesson learned. You clearly did not have enough resources or, more importantly, calendar time to implement the decisions you made in January. For you and Joe not to recognize this shows a lack of experience/understanding of the work you were commissioning and/or how to estimate and manage software development projects.

Hindsight is 20/20, but what would have been a better plan would have been to maintain the old system and tools for the 2016 season while standing up your new system and tools beside it and building a team of subscribers to assist with requirements and beta testing throughout the season. Then you would have had several months to act on that feedback and roll out the conversion.

Is that your plan for next year? Just as you have explained here what led to this fiasco, it would be great if you could offer some transparency in your plans going forward. The community might be able to help you.
Reviving this post, along with the response from @Simon Shepherd:

This is exactly what we plan on doing moving forwards. Annoyingly it's pretty much what we decided to do with the Draft Dominator too this year so we get the advantages there for sure; we just really wanted the new system in place for this year and wanted to avoid the extra effort in getting the new tech to work with the old MyFBG system.
@David Dodds and @Joe Bryant:

1. Will you please explain your plan for this season before the last minute?

2. Are you planning to keep classic MyFBG in 2017 alongside a newer version, soliciting feedback on the newer version before ditching the classic?

3. Has a lot of work been completed already to eliminate the problems from the new version that were evident with last year's rollout? Where do things stand?
