The Russia Investigation: Trump Pardons Flynn (1 Viewer)

Hey, it's Mr. Objective "I'm not biased" himself! Democrats clearly have no other option but to impeach, given that Trump is in the catbird's seat, what with losing to every Democratic candidate in every poll in every swing state. Hell, if ol' Trumpo plays his cards right, we might soon be adding states like Texas, Arizona and North Carolina to the list.*

Supermike is fair and balanced and just calls 'em like he sees 'em. A more well-informed, non-partisan arbiter of truth one will not find.

*This is where you say you don't believe in polls, citing Hillary in '16. Just like the FNC/RNC/NRA, Russia Today and the Trump Corporation wanted you to. Good boy.
My opinion, based on conversations with people, on both sides (unlike you kids that surround yourselves with like minded folks) tell me that even those that HATE republicans....are scared of the direction the democratic party is going.  And that number grows the more income those folks have.  Now, there is no chance they will vote for Trump....That is a 0 probability, but they ain't gonna vote democratic either.  So there goes the opposition.

My polls are as valid as the ones you guys cite over and over.

The fact that your validation has to come form an internet bulletin board is what boggles my mind.  All of you.  It's the drop down weirdest thing
You 100% missed my point but I am not all surprised.  I was making dig at JB posting laughing reactions to my opinions.   But you go right on ahead believing I need validation from internet strangers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're doing it again.  it's OK.  it's just a bulletin board.

If we’re basing our predictions on conversations we’ve had with people I’m pretty sure Trump is going to get zero votes.

Exactly.  Because like most here, you surround yourself with like minded folks.  I however do not.   I like to hear from all sides.

Heck go the the "other" FF bulletin board.  Take a few minutes to see what they think...You'd be shocked to see there are people who do NOT think like you do.

The commitment to this shtick is THE BEST shtick on this board and it's not close.

Two weeks before his inauguration, Donald J. Trump was shown highly classified intelligence indicating that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia had personally ordered complex cyberattacks to sway the 2016 American election.

The evidence included texts and emails from Russian military officers and information gleaned from a top-secret source close to Mr. Putin, who had described to the C.I.A. how the Kremlin decided to execute its campaign of hacking and disinformation.

Mr. Trump sounded grudgingly convinced, according to several people who attended the intelligence briefing. But ever since, Mr. Trump has tried to cloud the very clear findings that he received on Jan. 6, 2017, which his own intelligence leaders have unanimously endorsed.
From July 2018.

I know there are people that don’t think like I do I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of you basing your prediction on your anecdotal conversations.

And for what it’s worth, I don’t deliberately surround myself with like minded thinkers, it’s just close to impossible to find Trump supporters at my work or my synagogue or my neighborhood.

I did interact somewhat regularly with a Trump lover until about a year and a half ago, but I wasn’t going to call off my divorce just so I could talk politics with my ex Mother in Law.

Sometimes when I read these boards I imagine one unemployed guy just posting back and forth to himself all day long.
I'm not gonna lie...the same thought went through my mind with the bad Three's Company shtick in the Kavanaugh thread.

Jack, Chrissy and Janet sitting on the couch:

Jack to Janet:  Tell Chrissy I am NOT talking to her.
Janet:  You think she can't hear you?
Chrissy:

It's indisputable that the Russian kleptocrats put in a lot of effort to get Trump elected, and that there was plenty of communication between them and people high up in the Trump campaign. Putin and his cronies are getting paid back to a degree they may not even have imagined. At this point we've only really got 2 options - Trump is/was a willing stooge, or an ignorant one. Either way, seems like that's plenty of grounds for impeachment - he's totally compromised and unfit for the role. And that's just based on his relationship with Russia - he's given many other indications he shouldn't be where he is if we're concerned with the good of the U.S. overall.

I'll tell you what's funny: despite living amongst some of the wealthiest cities in America in Orange County, CA, the spiritual and literal home of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and pre-Trump modern-day Republicanism (not to mention the long-standing relationship with the KKK or the 20,000-person Klan rally held in Anaheim, the home of Disneyland), I've manged to surround myself with only like-minded folks.

I guess my conservative friends who, convinced by "unskewed polls" that Romney would win (remember those days?), bet me on the outcome of the 2012 Presidential election were really just faking their disappointment. Same with the employees I managed who liked to sprinkle in ******* and the n-word when they thought only sympathetic ears were listening. Must have been a ruse to convince me that they don't think exactly like I do. Of course the Republicans I am/was friends with and the conservative leanings of well over 50% of the population I interact with on a daily basis (which has only increased since I started business school) were part of an elaborate, Truman Show-esque production designed to lead me to conclude that my more liberal beliefs were mine alone. It sounds exhausting to me, but there's no telling what level of duplicity Democrats will stoop to to enact their socialist agenda.

Being left-leaning and therefore incapable of interacting with anyone that disagrees with me politically, I realize now that my attempts to surround myself exclusively with like-minded folks has been much more successful than I thought.

Thank you for helping me see the error of my ways, o Oracle of Wisdom and Harbinger of Light @supermike80! I once was lost but now am found. All praise to savior Donald and his cavalcade of angels!

It sounds like Dems are moving forward with a formal Impeachment Inquiry specifically so they're on terra firma with the courts when it comes to document requests and testimony.

Had they received appropriate reply to their oversight requests for documents and testimony without starting a formal Impeachment Inquiry, they would have read the documents before starting a formal Impeachment Inquiry.

Chicken, Egg.  Egg, Chicken.

Wow.  Why dont you reply next time with. "Yea you're right.  I dont associate with those who have a different opinion that me."

Good golly

These claims have been repeated so many times that they're commonly accepted as fact.  But they're disputable on several different fronts.

There is zero evidence indicating the IRA memes were a Russian govt op or even influenced the election at all.  In fact a judge rebuked Mueller's depiction of the IRA postings as an "active measure," because they provided no evidence to support the notion it was sponsored by the Russian govt.  She wrote, "it is significant and prejudicial that the government itself drew a link between these defendants and the Russian government."  Furthermore, most of the ads were not election-related, and the majority of the ad buys occurred after the election was over.

The intelligence officials that reached "high confidence" assessments that Russians hacked the DNC and Podesta emails were handpicked by James Clapper, a confirmed liar.  The technical evidence was never released.  Mueller refused to answer basic questions about the investigation.  They never even interviewed Julian Assange, arguably the most important witness to the whole thing if it was really about investigating what happened in 2016.  It's comical that these guys were held up as beacons of truth.

Anyway, when you really look at it, there is a litany of countervailing information that undercuts the overarching narrative.  It's outlined well here.  The fact is, Trump has been extremely belligerent toward Russia.  "When you actually look at the substance of what this administration has done, not the rhetoric but the substance, this administration has been much tougher on Russia than any in the post-Cold War era," said Daniel Vajdich, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council.

This administration is packed with extreme hawks, and in the early stages of a new Cold War.  It's time to drop the conspiracy theory and wake up to this reality.

Let’s see you can take the word of a guy arrested for crimes or you can take the word of a high ranking Russian spy who took photographs of everything.  We know who’ll you pick, but every other sane person will pick the later.

Oleg Smolenkov, a long-time Yuri Ushakov aide who left Russia in June 2017 and never returned, is rumored to be the CIA asset in today’s CNN report

When I initially Googled him, some of the results referred to the 2018 sale of a Stafford, Virginia home to an Oleg Smolenkov and his wife, Antonina. I assumed that they could not possibly concern *this* Smolenkov given the likelihood that he was living under a fake name

Kommersant' has concluded otherwise, citing said documents. Apparently, the Oleg in question has a wife named Antonina, which would appear to suggest that the home address of one of the CIA's most valuable Russian (ex) assets is, well, googleable

If true, hard to reconcile with CNN’s characterization of CIA as worried about keeping Smolenkov safe

Jim Sciutto @jimsciutto

2/Asset had risen to the highest levels of Russia’s national security infrastructure. US offered extraction months earlier during Obama administration, but asset refused. Asset’s information was crucial to IC assessment that Putin had directed election interference to favor Trump

Obama appointee Jim Sciutto casually left this detail out of his story.

Mark Ames

The lesson with this latest Russiagate “bombshell”— Langley has a bottomless supply of these sketchy “bombshells” yet to feed its stable of corporate media stenographers, who can be counted on not to ask any skeptical questions during feeding time

Wow, what do you know!  It’s another CNN TrumpRussia bombshell!  Another trash heap dumpsterfire fake news piece framed in an extremely dishonest way to fuel Trump’s demonization of, unlike CNN, otherwise important functions of an actual free press.

Why don’t people trust the media????  Why does Trump get to call them the Fake News Media and it works????  I just don’t get it!!

"But former intelligence officials said there was no public evidence that Mr. Trump directly endangered the source, and other current American officials insisted that media scrutiny of the agency’s sources alone was the impetus for the extraction."

The only people directly contradicting CNN are the people currently being paid to cover for Trump. We're talking about the administration where you can't even give an accurate weather report if it makes Trump look bad.

What's idiocy exactly.  The fact that I actually speak to people on both sides?  That I'm open to opinions that differ from my own?  Your position is idiocy. Keep sheltering in your echo chambers.  That's healthy

You're taking something that wasn't talking about you awfully personally.

It's idiocy to have no desire to have Trump in the white house but also be unwilling to vote for the opposition.

Not if you value party over country.  That's a big factor for the modern GOP.

What if Trump is best for both country and party?  That is exactly where I stand.
How much economic pain are you willing to sacrifice for your views? What the GOP did with their implementation of the tax cut was akin to economic treason, per my Cuban fiscally conservative historian friend Jose. The GDPNow Latest forecast: 1.5 percent — September 4, 2019

The Russia stuff is just a distraction, but the Trump/GOP tax cut will have lasting pain for me and my children.
