⚽ 2021 Copa América ⚽ (1 Viewer)

A. Has the fact that Colombia did not select James been covered in this thread already?

B. I really dislike Peru

A lot of these matches are really hard to watch with all the nonsense. The diving, embellishment, the time wasting, the real fouls... it just makes for such a disjointed game.

I know there's some Euro-snobbery to this, but considering half my family is from Argentina and I root for them pretty hard after US and Italy, I try to be a fan and enjoy it but just find it more difficult.

meh... it's no CONCACAF

Yeah, it's weird. CONCACAF is a different animal. It's just so physical and gritty. It's not pretty, but there's just something to it. But these teams have talent and play with some style but it gets lost in all the rest of the nonsense.

Maybe it's just me.

Can't be having any soccer threads dropping off of page one.  Colombia still at it with the own goals I see

So Brazil scores after the ball hits the ref.  Columbia sort of stops, Brazil doesn't, ref yells play on and everyone online is yelling that the game should of been stopped for a drop ball and restart.  I thought the law says it stops only if possesion changes and not just because it hits the ref.

What is the law?

I grew up with the ref being considered part of the field and don't think this change was warranted, but not going to fight it....

I thought they had change the rule where he has to blown the play dead immediately.  And I've seen it often recently but there was a play in one match, maybe Spain, where the ref let the play go.  So, I guess I don't know for sure but think it's supposed to be dead.

Sounded like thats what the announcer was trying to say. Sad they change these types of rules, then have to clarify and change again.  Didn't need to be changed in the first place.  Was a ball hitting a ref causing THAT much issue or advantage for a team?

Chile is just totally impotent right now.  Can barely cross midfield and unable to defend corners with any competency either.  Should be 2-0.

Do they really do a group stage to whittle the field down from 10 to 8? What's the point of playing 4 matches per team to only get rid of 2?

And now Paraguay's captain gets an unjustified second yellow.  What a freaking joke.  Terrible decision.

That was horrible - the guy acting like he was elbowed in the face should have gotten a yellow.

This kind of crap and the end of the Italy match are just so frustrating to those of us who love the sport.

ETA - do they not have review in the COPA?  Should have been reversed.

Not sure how many of you were watching but this has been a crazy game - about to go to penalties so turn to FS1 quickly.

6 goals, 2 red cards (both were kind of iffy IMO).

what a stat

@johnspacemuller

Eight of Chile's starters against Brazil were born in the eighties, what the hell happened to their talent pool.
