Rumor:

Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano

β€œChristian Eriksen breathes and can speake. He’s awake”. Martin Schoots, Eriksen agent, just told this to NPO Radio1 after speaking with Christian’s father, reports @OzcanAkyol. #prayforEriksen

Apologies to all if I came off very grim. So relieved to be mistaken. Some great news coming out.
Not grim at all -- we were all thinking it.

I mean, you don't get CPR and defib unless something very bad has happened.Β

What could have occurred that he's stable and conscious and talking already and not in some sort of emergency surgery?

They're playing the second half in 20 minutes :jawdrop:

Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET (TBC). The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.

"Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable. He remains hospitalized for further examinations. The match against Finland will be played tonight. This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is ok"

The only thing I can think of is an arrythmia. The fact that they got to him relatively quickly and were able to shock him and get him into a stable rhythm, if that's what it was, saved his life. Most times you don't get that kind of prompt response.Β

It seems harsh, but in a tournament like this, there is not a lot of leeway built into having to postpone a match.

Had the outcome been worse, then I think we would have seen a different solution. Β But I am sure the players just want to get the game completed so they can then focus on next steps over the next couple of days.

It looked eerily similar to the Fabrice Muamba incident. Fabrice also lived, but the heart issue ended his careerΒ

I appreciate and appreciated your insight here...even the grim stuff.

Apologies for not having this done sooner (or completed just yet - I make this excuse every time) but here's the new Euro 2020 Drinking Guide

As always kids, drink responsibly and please pass along recommendations for the drinks - always several gaps in the data.Β  I still need to finish with some images but for you degenerates that need to drink at 9am tomorrow you are now set.

NOTE - this isn’t very usable on your phone - maybe I’ll do a mobile versionΒ Β by Euro 2024
Need to go pick up some ingredients - bar is loaded but some of these regional cocktails have some weird #### in them.

Late start due to basketball for the youngest boy but almost done with Wales match now.

Today’s drinks so far:

Summer Negroni - it’s hot out here on my back deck - very refreshing. Β Wanted to make the Swiss Basil Smash but need some things.

Making a Finnish Lonkero for theΒ next match

I swear there was a similar occurrence in euros maybe around 2000, +/-? I was in europe at the time- it was equally horrifying.Β

That FA cup game seems like yesterday.Β

Strange...

At 18.13 GMT last Saturday, 43 minutes after kick-off in the FA Cup tie between Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, played at White Hart Lane, north London, home of Spurs, 23-year-old Fabrice Muamba collapsed. As the stadium fell silent and medical staff huddled around him, the match was abandoned. Muamba's heart stopped beating for 78 minutes.

Ummm.... You may want to catch up on todays evemts first.

=====================

They should just do away with the immediate half time and play 49 minutes straight.

I was trying to pull that name earlier.Β  IIRC there was a cardiac surgeon in the crowd who saved his life and they were like yards from a great hospital or something like that?Β
Also a Tottenham connection - took place at White Hart Lane. Β Not sure how close the hospital was - not yards - but Doctor in the crowd did assist.

Simon Kjaer jumping in, clearing Eriken's tongue and starting CPR until the medics got there, then comforting Eriken's wifeΒ is ####### heroic stuff.

I'm OK with the announces not getting it right -- it's really beyond their job and they're experiencing all the same stuff we were in front of millions of people.

The decisions not to cut away are another thing though.
