That's crap. Was the show ever shown from Tony's perspective?I'd read that cut to black as being Tony's instantaneous departure. He was shot by the guy coming back from the John. Without Tony there is no show so upon his death we end. What the hell.
That is a good theory but I believe the majority of people who watched the ending are waiting for the bloodshed. They are waiting for the dramatic end. A "what happened" on the last show ever is going to be a rip off for some.I'd read that cut to black as being Tony's instantaneous departure. He was shot by the guy coming back from the John. Without Tony there is no show so upon his death we end. What the hell.
Chase leaves it to the viewer to determine which way it ends for themselves.I'd read that cut to black as being Tony's instantaneous departure. He was shot by the guy coming back from the John. Without Tony there is no show so upon his death we end. What the hell.
Never thought of it like that, actually.Since the Sopranos loves to deal with symbolism, I wonder if that cat is supposed to be Adrianna (mispelled I know) re-incarnated
I knew it!!!!!!!!I will still rent the DVDs to watch it but I knew this would be another rip off season.Unreal. This f'n guy had a huge audience watching this show end and what a disappointment. What a shame
Good for water cooler discussion...bad for fan satisfaction...Chase leaves it to the viewer to determine which way it ends for themselves.I'd read that cut to black as being Tony's instantaneous departure. awesome episode.
How about the guy coming out from the john with a gun in his hand. Cut to the gun, show Tony looking at the door as Meadow comes in and then cut to black. Is that so hard?Chase wants to create something that will be discussed and dissected forever. Would wrapping it up in a bow do that?
I honestly didn't even think of the hes dead perspective - after reading it here it seems to make sense but really a bad way to end it IMOHow about the guy coming out from the john with a gun in his hand. You're missing the point. Tony is going to have to live the rest of his life wondering if the next guy through the door will be "that guy". We all know Meadow was coming through the door there. But the bell ringing, the hunter looking dude, the slimy looking guy, the ...um...black guys... ... who will it be? It's only a matter of time. Tony's time wasn't tonight, but it will be sometime soon...I think. How about the guy coming out from the john with a gun in his hand. I kind of enjoyed Phil's squash. Not only does the show end on Nothing. You have sixty minutes of nothing leading up to it. The whole episode jumped around sporadically. Nothing got resolved and nothing made alot of sense. Its all a big nothing.
Completely agree.Perfect ending. Chase ended it exactly they way he drived the entire series, without selling out and without predictability.I loved the finale.
well put.I thought the cat staring at the pic of Christopher was pretty funny and Paulie's reaction. In the final scene Chase made it a point to focus on all of the familes enjoying each other's company. He also made it a point to focus on the 2 guys in the restaurant that were by themselves (thinking they might be killers)...but really the guys were lonely and kept looking at the familes having a good time. The show is called "The Sopranos" for a reason, in the end....Tony realized his real family was more important than his mafia family.......after all, the thing that made him finally go to Jr. was to make sure Bobby's kids were taken care of.That's my take
Anyone else think that their cable just went out for a split second?
Chase literally says #### you to his fans. #### you too, David!
