You got a resolution. His family is safe. Why would it be more of a resolution if everybody died? Makes no sense. How many times has a season ended with Tony and his family? 1, 2, 3, 6 and now 7. And yes, I thought the middle 15 minutes was boring. The last 20 minutes ruled though.

As I am sure has been posted in this thread previously, the final scene supposedly takes place in an ice cream parlor - my guess is that there will either be a "Valentine's Day Massacre" type scenario or Tony will peruse the various selections and choose plain vanilla onion rings.

my call on the last scene

the reason he cuts it out before the song ends is because we all know the way the song ends and Chase is not about finales, he's about capturing a time in the life of this family... It's not about the end of the song, not even about the beginning of it, it's about hearing a bit of it, knowing where you stand and then moving on.... I think we are left to realize that Tony's got his family with him, his 'family''s back in a place where he can make his money and he lives to fight another day..

Maybe he goes to jail, maybe he doesn't but this is the kind of life this guy leads, unlike the rest of the world he has to worry that somebody is out there ready to take him out not just worried about his kid getting playing time on his little league team. .

It's over. I spent 50 of the 55 minutes waiting for SOMETHING to happen.

Oh goody, Phils dead. What a great ending. Fantastic even.

I gave it a chance up until the end, and it turned out to be a show that could never live up to the first two seasons. People saying how good it is/was has fallen into the trap and do not remember what a good tv show is. "You can't appreciate what Chase gave you..." No, I watched for entertainment and he was not able to deliver.

Typical FFA, just like eating at a chain rest., it's cool to go against the norm and love how this ending played out.

If 95% of the shows viewers hated the last episode, does that mean it was great? I can't imagine the people involved would be excited that almost everyone would hate the way it turned out.

If the Sopranos were a stock, it just bottomed out.

Eh. 24 did that in Season 3 (Stephen Saunders, the lead villian, gets killed by the wife of one of Saunders' victims.) Believe me, it's not all it's cracked up to be.Now the brusing guy that was Tony's original bodyguard? That would have been something.

I never thought there was any way Chase was going to kill off Tony. That would've taken some huge stones and I never thought that would have happened. I didn't think he would flip either. Tony going to jail, left alone, deserted by his family (the only thing that really means anything in his life) would have been an ending that would have provided more closure. I don't think this was an ending. This was just another episode. And when you're talking about the final episode, I think you need to go further than that. But that's just my opinion.

How about the fact that it was blacked out for 30 seconds witthout actually ending. You can interpret the ending however you want. In this case, you must make one up b/c the writers didn't do so.

I'm sure that will be a popular theory but I don't buy it. We are only let with what the show presents to us. The last image of the show was Tony alive. The mystery man was still in the bathroom and at no point was there ever a clear threat on Tony's life. If we're going to project our own beliefs, then I'll just pretend the Al Pacino-esque guy came out and was really hired to kill A.J. on behalf of the millions of "Sopranos" fans who never liked his character and hated the fact he was featured so much in the series finale.

This is a great posting. Just because the show didn't end with one of the three most obvious scenarios coming to pass doesn't mean that the final episode wasn't great. This wasn't a show that spoonfed its audience, and that wasn't going to change now.

I'm ****officially**** backing off of my "closure" statement. After watching it again, it's clear that it is up to the viewer for interpretation on whether he got popped in the last scene.But I still think it was a great ending b/c of the interpretation it leaves.

Again, I'll say that the issue there is it's a cop-out. It's as if Chase couldn't come up with an actual ending so he decided to play the "Let them decide" game.

Agreed. The second half was terrific and last week's episode was one of the best in the series' fun. But this episode was Blah and it wasn't just the unsatisfying resolution. Other than a few good moments, I kept looking at the clock and getting frustrated that it was closer and closer to the end and nothing of substance was happening.I honestly could care less about A.J. Couldn't Chase have picked another episode other than the final one to spend on that character? I'd rather watch Syl in a coma than see A.J. trying to figure out which foot to use first as he walks through life.

6B = definitely one of the top three seasons. I'm starting to think that the second to last episode was the greatest ever.I also think that 5 doesn't get enough love. 4 was legitimately criticized, though I enjoyed it.
