⚽ Soccer Match-day Thread (1 Viewer)

I'm probably won't be biased saying this by the end but no matter what this is the best MLS match I've seen in yrs. Curtain's moves today have been great so far. Starting 11 was questionable putting in Santos (Slow start but turned it on before being subbed in ET) and Wooten (Did very little) at first but the changes and subs have been huge pay off.

And there it is. Deserved goal by philly, even if it was ultimately a bit Scrappy.

15 mins left of rbs season. No Kaku, no royer...the quality just isn't there. But bwp on the field, so you never know.

Btw...ilson has been slicing and dicing down the right. Filthy.

Welcome to the Ilshino show. The Secrete Weapon off the bench

I thought they ruled him offsides during VAR and didn’t just call the goal off due to the handball
I missed that. And apparently so did the commentating team and studio crew. Because all I saw discussed was the handball aspect.
I didn't listen to the commentary, but the replays seemed to highlight the handball, not any offsides...so that's what I assumed was called back. Anybody else know more?

That hand ball...letter of the new law and all...ok... if you agree with the letter of the new law- which I don't. Mane knew nothing about it, and it barely grazed him. Then you look at dele Allis goal yesterday- to me, he takes that off the top of his arm, not his shoulder, which used to be handball...but not in slow mo replay yesterday I guess.

Thats a big Monkey off our Backs right there!!!! The Signature Win!!!!
Congrats man...bummed to see my RBs go out so soon, but as a soccer fan it'll be more fun watching the Union play tbh.

Hoping RB management makes some moves for game changing players soon. Bwp is done. Kaku is decent, royer too...but I've never felt either of them are of enough quality to regularly dictate the direction of a game. Lots of guys on the team like that- decent quality, but not upper tier. Except maybe for Robles, who never gets enough credit.

Atkinson has been horrible.

Still, MU with solid defending.

The time wasting, though, all 2nd half, is embarrassing. Throw-ins taking 45 seconds is absurd.
Thats normal for United even when behind.  Its so damn annoying they can't even get the ball back in play with an easy throw.

The Liverpool goal was inevitable.  Not because they were playing well but because United can not see out a game.  Ashley Young again at fault standing there watching Lllana run by him for an easy tap in.  Again, why is he on the pitch?

Not sure why Ole waited so long to make a sub (Martial on 10 mins too late for an obviously tired Rashford) and then his 2nd one after the equalizer in extra time...  They were tiring and needed subs.

United showed some life, some work rate and intensity.  With Pogba, Martial, Tuanzbee instead of Fred, Young, Rojo... they may actually have some life.

It was the commentary crew who said it when they finally waived off the goal and it’s why o figured they quit showing it once play resumed. Then again I was pretty hungover and I may have just been hearing things at that point.

Listening to the match on B5 Aktuell radio out of Munich.  My German is nowhere good enough, but I can follow some of it, and I can hear the goals.

NYC vs TFC on FS1 in 15
Single elimination game again if memory serves.  I don't think there are any two legged playoffs this year.  It seemed to up tye ante last round, hope it continues with this round.

It probably goes with out saying if there any casual fans out there that want to tune into one MLS game this year, the LA derby tomorrow night should be a good one and possibly Zlatan's last game in MLS.

Absolutely perfect night here in NYC, fwiw. No wind, around 60deg.

Nycs shape is a mess.

Looks like a 4-2-3-1, but the 2, 3 and 1 can't string two passes together, with big gaps between each grouping.

How is NYC playing this poorly?  Not the first time tfc carved right through them. If they can make it to the half without giving up a goal, hopefully torrent kicks the crap out of them in the locker room.

Eta....ring and parks have been terrible...to me, the core of the shape problem.

They're getting no width in attack...everything coming through the middle, but the target forawd #11 looks like he's never played with the team before, off pace and off target and just can't find the ball.

:censored:  Lingard as a 2nd striker?  Do you not want to score goals today, Ole?

3-5-2 again today.  It worked well vs Liverpool so we'll see how it goes today.  full debut to James Garner who starts in MF with McTominay.  Mata in the 10.  Williams and AWB as wingbacks.

I thought Garner was more of an attacker but hopefully he impresses deeper.  Even with a back 3 of Jones, McGuire and Rojo, the only thing I can complain about is  :censored:  Lingard.
