Its sad when you are happy to see your team score an away goal, win away for the first time since March, and keep a clean sheet....

@Sebastian Salazar

As @TaylorTwellman just noted on @SportsCenter , #Zlatan declined our pregame interview request for first time since joining #MLS. Weird not hearing from him now after so much talk this season.

‘In a bad mood all week’ a #Galaxy source just told me re: Ibrahimovic.

I can't imagine being as good at anything as Vela is at soccer and not loving it.  I wonder why the game always was a chore for him?  He does finally look happy in LA though after all these years.

Well, at least this defeat means the Galaxy management can't sit there and think everything is fine because they've never lost to LAFC.  Acquiring some defenders who move with more quickness than inebriated pachyderms would be nice.  I'll miss Zlatan, of course.

Bunch of fun goals tonight but Diamonde acting like he is MBappe was my favorite

After he put himself in rehab or something not long ago, really nice to see him tear it up.

What a game...even if the zlat looked like his mind and body was elsewhere. Vella...good lord...so good.

Thought super Lee and Blessing were the real difference makers..fantastic on both sides of the ball and allowed the offense to click and him.

The Gals will still have did Santos and pavon, plus some decent players around them in lletget and allesandrini...but some real holes otherwise. Too many guys with too many sloppy moments.

And lol...had no idea scheloto had a twin!

What a game.

And what a playoffs so far (NYC teams excluded)...some fun soccer with tons of drama. Hope it keeps going into the semis

"I have another two months [on my contract]," Ibrahimovic said after the match. "We'll see what happens. ... [If I stay], then MLS is good, because the whole world will watch it. If I don't stay, nobody will remember what MLS is."

I am pretty sure the moment he signs with another team, assuming he does not retire, he is going to light the entire league on fire with his comments and they are likely to be pretty nasty, not Zlatanish, like this one above.

I think his crotch grab leaving the field would have been the perfect "end scene" to his MLS career.

But yeah- agree. He's not done burning things to the ground just quite yet. This year, next year... It's inevitable.

It's.certainly favored the brave, tactics-wise...a good thing
That’s what concerned me about Atlanta- FDB seems content to try and win 1-0.  Problem is I have little confidence in our defense and we have 2 CBs out last night. We eventually got that second goal last night but that game was far from easy - Philly had plenty of good possession and some chances.

I think he's done in MLS. And despite his goals, not sure he has enough left in the tank physically or mentally to play in a league where he'd have to actual...try

Tfc should be easier, imo. Defense not as good, so as long as you put in the goals or should be fine. Or just aim for the bald kid and run past him.

That was and is my thought too.  Of the 3 teams that were left heading in to this week I saw it NYCFC > Philly > Toronto - obviously that's not going out on a limb as that was the seeding but Atlanta wanted no part of going to NY to play in that (potential) weather and more importantly on that pitch.  Our defense looked like they had never played together but I give them credit for keeping the clean sheet.  With Miles and Parkhurst out FDB was forced to play a back 4 and it was obvious that we were not comfortable with it.  I hate to blast Ambrose but I will be disappointed if he starts against Toronto - he's pretty much worthless - slow, small and provides nothing in attack.  With the Bello and Shea injuries Atlanta has not had a LB they can depend on for a while.

Goodness, what a nice goal by LAFC.

VAR in EPL would have ruled that back for offside after drawing all their lines to see his knee (and prob shoulder) were off.  We can debate it as right or wrong per the rules all we want, but IMO MLS did this right and is the spirit of the rule, if not the letter.  If you have to draw lines to find his toe off, there is no way a ref can be asked to call him off at full speed.  And that make it even which is onside.

The demigod grabs his junk on the way out. Not the classiest way to exit but that's just who he is
Would have preferred him go out with that great strike for a goal at the end but the ref inexplicable called a foul and denied it.

Re: Zlatan, you soccer silverbacks need to talk me off the ledge on this as I'm only familiar with the latter-day Zlatan, from about the time he scored that amazing bicycle goal against England to now, but from what I'm able to piece together about him, I have reached a few conclusions about him that would/should impact the sport in the US far more than any international player before him.

First, despite the fact that he's Swedish by birth, his story couldn't be more American: Poor, immigrant father, started with nothing but his God-given talent and world view that was shaped by his upbringing, and he has capitalized on seemingly every opportunity not by whining and demanding that he's owed something because he was poor or a minority, but by believing in himself and working hard. Since US Soccer says they want more than just suburban white kids, his story is infinitely relatable to the type of kids they say they want to find.

Second, one thing that I think is criminally underrated about him is his black belt in karate.  I think the physical and mental discipline involved in reaching that level comes through in his play on the field, and I think that is a path that others can follow as well.

Third, it's pretty clear that this man has no filter and isn't afraid to say what he believes.  When it comes to the sport in the US, he has said we need to be faster, not only of foot but of thought as well. I believe his insight is spot on and though 'speed' may not be the cure to all of our ills, it's something I'd like to see recognized and emphasized more.

It's crazy, out of the box and will never be considered, but I believe that Zlatan and what he brings to the game is exactly what US soccer needs, not just for the national team but for overall interest in the game.  I hope the powers that be figure out a way to keep him around and highly visible after his playing days are over.
