Newcastle deserves a point?   Uhhhh not sure about that. Stats all point to a trouncing here
Plus it took ManU till the last 5 mins with an injured keeper on the other end to really get anything going. Newcastle was playing a pretty defensive effort trying more so to counter attack. If anything up until the 85" ManU was pretty disappointing at best and despite a 4-1 victory today they still have major question marks. A club like ManU shouldn't lose matches like CP and Spurs like they did and against a Newcastle Untied should've had this game well in hand by the half but didn't. Thats not to take away from the goals they scored as they were good goals but it's the fact it still took them to the 85" to get anything going.

You gonna take that one sitting down, guru?

I only watched some of the first half, but it was one way traffic
ManU is the better quality Club no questions but Newcastle did play a very defensive battle. ManU had numerous chances & against a better club probably would've lost today and only managed to open things up after Darlow got injured in the 85". A better quality team would've put ManU away today. They missed a lot of chances to do so themselves in this one. Hardly convincing to stop the questions that surround ManU still.

United’s been terribly I really have nothing to stand on.  But they definitely deserved full points here. Plus the guys on a massive sugar rush with the derby win.  Is all good.  Any day Barca loses is a good day

I didn't see NU ask any questions of the MU defense in the part I watched. Hopeful lobs downfield with no effect.it was all Manc.

They lost? Hope it wasn't on Dest. Anybody watch?

Wow, Tottenham tied? It was 3-0 in the 75th last I looked.

And how are Aston Villa in 2nd place and the only team yet to drop any points after 5 weeks? They faced Liverpool and Leicester to boot.

Saw quite a bit of the RBs v ORL tonight (albeit, on my phone). Caden looks like he belongs, but he didn't show any next level jedi stuff tbh, but good movement and work getting up and down the field.

Villa may have the best MF in the premier league.

Frankly, I was surprised how poorly they fared last year as they spent a lot when promoted and have some decent players.  Similar to Leeds this year.

Not saying it's going to last, but Villa in top 8 this year would not surprise me.

Bottom of the table is pretty solid right now, I don't think anyone outside the bottom four are in trouble for the drop.

And pretty sure I posted earlier there was nfw West Ham was in danger as there is so much talent on that team.  FFS, they just shipped off Felipe Anderson to Porto who they spent over $40M on, and Haller who they spent over $50M on wasn't even dressed (and for some reason I cannot understand, seemingly only plays cup games for them).  West Ham could challenge for Europe this year imho.

That's a rather bold statement.  Not saying you are wrong but you are wrong  ;)

I'd definitely take a few of the top 6 over them but they are very good.

yeah, I stole it from a pundit I follow on the twitters, but just thinking about it, Grealish/McGuin/Luiz/Barkley all young, high work rate, interchange well, can attack, can defend, just a good solid mf.

Look at United.  Sure Fernandes and Pogba more talented, but work rates?  meh.  They have to put the likes of Matic or McTominnay out there for cover.

You know who United should get ffs?  This Barella cat from Inter.  That is exactly what United need.

And Roma did something interesting yesterday in that they started a back 3, with 3 CB's (none named Smalling) and in fact, the center back was Cristante who is in fact a MF'er.  Was great, I don't know why United don't toy with a back 3 of say Maguire/McTominnay/Lindelof - as you can use McTominnay to take the pressure off building the attack - how many times do they pass it back to DeGea who either has a howler or just passes directly to the other team?  Play a 3-5-2 with AWB and Telles/Shaw on the wings with Fernandes and say Pogba/Fred in the middle.  Would be nice to see Ole do something, ANYTHING different with his approach sometime.

Certainly.  However, Grealish starts for almost every top 6 club IMO and certainly gets significant playing time at all of them.  The only reason Barkley wasn't starting at Chelsea was because Frank Lampard preferred Mount(which has been talked about a lot on the internet) and they added Havertz who is likely the best young 10 in the world.  He'd also be getting big minutes at most of the top 6 teams, unless he was taking playing time from the boss's son of course.

That's a great midfield and one that can flip from defense to attack in a heartbeat.  I think AV will easily be top 10 this year and definitely push for Europe.

The United scoreline was more flattering then deserved but they were the better team for most of the game.  Newcastle was never really threatening despite United seemingly all over the place.

The Newcastle goal was the fault of Rashford (poor giveaway), Lindelof (easily turned again) & Fred (2 men on the ball carrier leaving shelvy alone in the middle).  McGuire and De Gea possibly could have saved the issue but McGuire was alone in no mans land and De Gea just watched the ball go in.  I don't know if he is to blame, but could have made an effort and picked up his def.

Good response by United to push on and overcome.

In other news, Liverpool's game winner should of stood.  With a margin of error on the human drawn lines, how do you call that off?  EVEN IS ON!

Also with the way the refs are told to call offside, it was inevitable something like the VVD injury would happen.  Linesman told to call the off late to allow the play to go.  If the ball ends up in the net it gets reviewed.  If it doesn't end up in the goal then whatever call is made is what stands.  Offside team gets a corner that leads to a goal, its not reviewed to see it was offside, goal stands. In this case the linesman calls offside, ball isnt in the net, nothing is reviewed, the tackle by Pickford didn't occur because the offside happened first and was called.  Can't review since it wasn't a goal.  Can't review for a PK or a red.

Its BS and hopefully they review how these calls are made.

Not rooting for Moyes, but am rooting against Jose so.....

Would have liked Graelish at United, but so far happy with Bruno and VdB has looked the part, just needs to play.

And Actually, I think if United can get a true holding MF (younger and more dynamic then Matic, better then Fred), then a mf 3 of a DM, VdB and Bruno will be very good.  And Pogba will be forced to put in an effort and dominate or he can go....

Sounds like a problem for a lot of the top teams.  Wonder if United will compete with Chelsea for Declan Rice next summer.

Rice was linked with United at the restart last season, then Chelsea in the window.  But then again everyone is linked with United.  A lot of the United fan base claims he isn't good enough because of who he plays for.  I never understood why.

I actually never understood why United wasn't in for Thiago and then Partey.  Yes Fred has improved his passing and overall play, Matic shows flashes but often gets exposed on the ball and his range of passing is limited.  McT isn't a holding MF.  Heck, I would love to see a 39 year old Carrick in that position!

Still think CB, DM, RW is needed.  We shall see if these up and coming players like Diallo and Pellistri can change the need for a RW.  Still badly need improvements in the other two spots.

Again, I'm not saying they aren't good but they aren't considered as talented and definitely aren't as deep as most of the top 6.  It's not necessarily a knock against them - it's just their spending isn't to the level of the MFs they would be compared too.

I normally like different/creative alt kits and will probably get one of the new Pink Barca shirts, but these Orange Juve kits are pretty horrible.

Interesting lineup for United at PSG - 3-5-2

                      De Gea
         Tuanzbee Lindelof Shaw
AWB                                           Telles
                   Fred   McT
                        Bruno
            Martial     Rashford

Pogba and VDB on the bench

This CBS all access is such incredible bull####.

For how expensive cable/satellite TV is (including being forced to pay for 100 channels you dont want to get the 12 that you do)......to require a separate purchase to watch a big time sporting event like this.....straight up garbage.

I refuse to participate. Next thing you know the NCAA final 4 will require a pay per view purchase. Complete nonsense.

Agreed.  Especially combined with losing regular EPL coverage as well.  All these different services each with their own cost is just bull####.

Bmav/guru - how does Telles look?

I agree with TLEF - not paying for this.

ETA - I'm seeing comments on Twitter that he's looked good and saying he's already the best LB since Evra

NOTE - Twitter is a cesspool

:scared:  I paid for this....

So far I like what I see out of Telles.  He's playing wingback, showing some toughness and playing some nice balls.  He seems to be taking the corners too.
He is a bit stiffled by Shaw (whos playing LCB behind him).  Shaw tends to dribble and dribble and then pass when you have no where to go.  He has got into the attack, some nice work with Rashford and Martial down low.

Ref just called half time with Bruno running free toward the top of the PSG box.....

Meh, I think CBS has a pretty good product for this. It is great to be able to watch any game and they don't have an annoying scroll spoiling the other games if you want to watch a couple. I probably prefer the a la carte of Bleacher Report.

We've come a lot way from having only one or two games available at the CL group stages and I think that is worth reflecting on. $7 a month doesn't bother me at all, but I realize that isn't true for everyone.

Yeah but when you need all these services to watch:

CBS All Access
Peacock
ESPN +

etc....  It adds up when already paying for cable/satelight

It certainly does, I just prefer the standalones personally. Bein is a PITA to get this year for me. Can't imagine having cable/satellite again.

For me, its not even about the actual dollar cost.

I just think its a slippery slope.  For example.....I pay for the GOLF channel. Its an entire channel.....just for golf.  Yet, while the first round of the PGA championship is on at 10 AM on a Thursday, they're showing some bull#### studio talking show instead of Tiger Woods' actual round. Why? So they can milk an extra $5 out of those who want to watch a few extra hours of coverage by forcing us to subscribe to PGA tour live.

So what's next? PPV NFL playoff games?  Yeah, it sounds absurd. But as cord cutting gets more and viable, the cable providers are hurting more and more (despite the fact they've been screwing us for decades with bundled services and channel packages you're forced to buy. I mean...up until like 3 years ago....I still had to pay for a home phone landline in order to get internet service) . And that hurt bubbles up to the content providers, who are going to look for more and new ways to nickle and dime us for additional revenue.
