The race for top 4 went from intense, compelling to absolute crap, and now is back to being highly intense and entertaining. It’s like a relegation battle where a draw is a huge leg up on the competition because it gets you that one point.
4th place? Psshhh. Arsenal is Concentrating on the Europa League.

Compelling crap.  Although as good as Juan Foyth's three minute cameo was, it will never top the time Gerrard came on against Man U and got an immediate red card leading to the greatest heat map of all time.*

* Yes, even better than the Darlington Nagbe heat map.

The Dons stay up.

20th place survival on goal difference doesn't sound impressive but it was a remarkable turnaround from when Wally Downes took over as manager last December.

Origi with the lifeline there

ETA:  Probably an own goal on replay.  Either way, Liverpool have life.
Funny Shari checked in and I thought- whoa, the hobbit, forgot a guy that good even played there. Bam. What a ball.

great game, and better result for the neutrals to keep the title race alive, as well as nu played.

and again, Liverpool should have been with 10 from 1-1 on.

Are we talking about Alexander-Arnold?  I don't think you can play advantage on to a goal and then give a guy a red for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity.  It's just a weird quirk.  NU are probably better off if Atsu (Gesundheit!) doesn't get there (assuming Perez or whoever can convert a PK).

Very strange...the site isn't letting me quote Scooby's post above. Yes, that play. and for me that's a red, regardless of letting play go on.

Gotta say, not sure what Chelsea were thinking today. Completely messed things up in this epic battle Royale for the top 4.

That said, would he nice to see CP get CL play next year.

United, concentrating on...well...summer break?
could be a really short summer if Watford upset Man City in FA Cup final.  If Watford wins, Man United is forced to start playing Europa League qualifiers in July which obviously hurts their normal summer money generating tours.

I suppose we should have seen it coming.  OGS was always at his best coming in as a sub.*

*  Not really techinically accurate as he was surprisingly awesome taking over for Becks at RM when Becks left for Madrid.

what in gods name is going on?

Arsenal some how managed only a single point from the last 4 games against Palace, Wolverhampton, Leicester and Brighton.  Holy hell.

United and Arsenal had must wins games today against two bad teams with nothing to play for and each only got a draw.

Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield with absolutely nothing to play for but still show up and play so hard against big teams.  Love the EPL.

Chelsea cliched today.

Tottenham has clinched in all but mathematical (3 points and a 8 gd has to be made up in one match day for Spurs to be out).
I mean, they’ve basically clinched. The odds of that are extremely remote.  Arsenal and United have totally wet the bed down the stretch.  Unbelievable.

here is an amazing stat.

The point difference between 1st and 7th is 37 (and could be 38 if Man City wins tomorrow).

In 1996/97, the final point difference between the team in first and the at the very bottom of the table was only 41.

There is a greater difference between first and 7th this year than there was between first and two teams that were relegated in 96/97.

What happens if Arsenal win the Europa League?  Does England get a 5th CL team, or does the 4th place EPL team get bumped?  I think they changed the rules on that recently, but don't recall exactly.

England gets a 5th team - happened last year (17/18), when Man United won Europa in 2016/17

Only way the 4th team gets bumped now is if teams outside the top-4 when Europa and Champions League.

Weird - I can't quote this post without using multiquote - and I can't edit it (or hide it) on its own.

There was a scenario alive yesterday where United could have finished 4th and missed the CL. Not possible any longer though.  5 is the max that can get in.  So if Arsenal wins Europa, they are in CL
