I was really surprised she was only a late addition to the roster - particularly after she just signed the largest contract in the Women's League.
The contract is more due to potential than anything.  She was rookie of the year and was talking about going overseas, so to keep her here, the Spirit had to pay.

I was a bit surprised she wasn't included either, but the USWNT does have a ton of great attacking players.  Hell..... Rapinoe, Morgan, Heath, and Press didn't make the latest squad and they've been our attacking foundation for the last 8 years.

Lille defense doesn't seem very good so far.

They aren't as good as in yrs past. Maignan their keeper was standing on his head a lot over the last few yrs and now is with Milan. Botman is still an excellent player though. The Lille defense just gets super exposed against bigger clubs

Frustrating to hear commentators constantly talk about Renato Sanches finding himself at Lille and never pointing out that every other team just stuck him on the wing when he's clearly a CM.

They picked it up quite a bit after that first 10 minutes. Now I find myself surprised they aren’t higher up the table in France.

So Swag not playing well?

In general they have zero consistency or someone to properly service Dusan every game. Swag has been their best MF but that isn't saying much when Locatelli is playing way out of position and they are relying on guys who have zero business on the starting XI let alone being on the roster.

Having Dusan Vlaholic is great and all but when you don't have guys who can feed him consistently then you aren't going to do great. Breamer on Friday essentially shut Dusan down and he's a really good CB but at the same time Dusan had zero service most of the match

They've lost a few key guys. The court just ruled on the Rafeal Leao Sporting CP situation where he terminated his contract to join them and now lille owe Sporting Euro22.5M for him. Leao and Milan don't owe anything so Lilie might now need t sell more players. They aren't making a ton of money and had to sell a few guys. it's why the English papers thought it'd be easy for Newcastle to get Sven Botman when Botman has told his agent he wants Milan

Lille was also owned by Elliot a few yrs ago till Elliot sold but considering the French leagues issues with lack of National TV deal in the country among other things clubs in France are needing to sell off players to stay afloat. Unless you are PSG you are screwed right now. And to bring this back to Botman and Lille and Milan they have a good relationship already and I think Lille would rather sell him to Milan then Newcastle. Player and agent want the move and Botman has been loyal to the club. From reports in Italy Milan have right of first refusal to match any offer Lille receives from else where but that doesn't seem like a big deal as it's becoming clear Botman only wants Milan unless some mystery X club comes in last minute for him. He likes Newcastle but not sold on their project. Another issue written by a English Journalist is that Milan have a lot of Prestige and Paolo Maldini where Newcastle don't have that nor is Alan Shearer or others working at Newcastle like Milan has Maldini or have anyone in the same stratosphere as Maldini to talk him into leaving.

Milan are also in on Sanchez and had a deal transfer wise but couldn't agree on wages with Jorge Mendes. it's been reported as well that part of a Leao signing a more club friendly contract is Mendes has offered Sanchez to Milan already so thats 2 guys who can leave right there. There's also interest from Clubs including Milan for Jonathan David. So they could be losing their 3 best players come next season too.

Lille is a tough scrappy team but they aren't going to beat Chelsea

And they only drew against Torino because of a Swag goal. I know Matteo Bonetti and David Amoyal on their pods have both said Juve selling Swag even though he'd get them the most would be dumb as he's the only consistent one of the bunch in the MF. At the same time when Bonetti was with ESPN and ESPN had Serie A rights he interviewed Swag I think shortly before going to Juve and he said his dream was to play in the EPL one day

Didn't see it but people saying VAR didn't intervene on an Adrian Rabiot play where it should've been a straight Red. WOuld've been doing Juve a favor in the 2nd leg.

i watched that match and it was close on rabiot, but i’m a juve fan and i just think he took a weird step and came up high unintentionally.  mckennie broke his foot later in the match on a challenge and is out 8-12 weeks for the u.s.

Damn, United is tough to watch.  They still play like an All-Star team.  Seem unmotivated and don’t know what each other are doing.  Beyond lucky to get a draw.  Should have been 3-1 or 4-1.

Romeu mercifully puts Norwich down with a nice volley.

but wow... Norwich are really, really awful. no shape, guys barely running or covering, just acres and acres of space and time for Saints. they look to have no idea what to do as a team other than punt it to Pukki and hope something happens.

lolz

1030 eastern kick

@PreeceObserver: Hearing the Aston Villa team bus is stuck on the M23 outside of Brighton. Could be a delay to kick-off. #avfc

@Villamole1: Coaching staff not happy about prep time at stadium, wanted a 3:45 kick off and were confident about that. Ref team alongside FA demanded the 3:30 kick off! Sure Gerrard will have something to say post match about that especially if the result goes against us. #AVFC
