⚽ Soccer Match-day Thread (10 Viewers)

I tried to find the Atletico v City game after Liverpool went off, but Paramount was replaying a CONCACAF WCQ.  Couldn't make the teams out, but it was incredible.  13 minutes of injury time, a ref who lost the plot, dodgy red cards, scrums, jamming it into the mixer and scrambling for goals.  The stadium was a CAULDRON.  One of the managers lost his mind.  Pretty exciting -- kind of glad I couldn't find the Champ's League match.

(was dying with all the chances Atletico had -- 1-1 aggregate with City being dragged through another 30 minutes of hell would have been perfect)

Hoping this took a lot more out of City than Liverpool's stroll did.  And Walker would be a big miss if he's really hurt.

Lol.

Simeone teams don't go down without a fight.

Also Foden eyeing the touchline and then rolling onto the field is some elite ####housery.  Savic yanking him by the shirt back of the field... awesome.

The whole time I had to keep reminding myself that if the roles were reversed Atletico would have been doing it even worse.

You have no idea how conflicted I was watching all this.  I didn't know what I wanted more.

Really hoping City having to play four straight brutal matches catches up with them Saturday.  Liverpool were never really under pressure against Benfica in either leg and Benfica aren't anywhere near the same level as Atletico.

Dest just subbed in... to an 0-3 schellacking vs Frankfurt? what on earth?

there were no timmy chandlers featured so far in the maiming of barca.

Busquets utterly exposed as a defensive mid on the European stage several years running, Eric Garcia somehow worse than Lenglet, and several unlucky touches that should have gone in.

I watched the last 20 minutes of reg, plus the next 40 or so of injury time.

it weren't pretty.

Horrible day. Missed kickoff for our game on account of our marvellous transport system giving two consecutive trains that were too full to board, then in a must win game we capitulate horribly against one of the weaker teams in the league, fail to get a shot on target until the 90th minute, somehow equalise in injury time only to allow them to get a winner straight away. To add insult to injury, the train back converted into the Bolton Wanderers party bus

Anybody else watching Soton -Arsenal? Peacock just broke for three minutes of commercials - a minute or two after the start of the second half.

The cumulative impact of the last three City games is showing.  Liverpool had their feet up for most of the two Benfica matches while City was in 300 minutes of knife fights, and that's what it looks like.

Glad someone posted this clip -- I jumped out of my seat yesterday watching live but never got a good replay.  Thiago.

Chest trap of a 30-yard moon ball under pressure, 2nd touch volley into a yard of space, and then a 50 yard outside of the boot bomb to Salah in stride.

Here's an unbelievable stat:  over the last 21 games...

Liverpool GF/GA when they're already ahead by 2+ goals:  12-11

Liverpool GF/GA when they aren't already up by 2+ goals:  34-3

They've give up three goals in 21 games that either tied the game or put them behind.

The best example of that was in a Cup replay some years ago (probably the mid-late 00's) between Everton and Liverpool. Late in extra time, our TV cuts to commercials early. They realise their mistake and cut back just to see Everton celebrating taking the lead. There's footage of this on Youtube if you search Everton Liverpool ad break

League Cup final with Chelsea and Liverpool was quite possibly the best 0-0 game I've ever watched.  Now we get them again in the FA Cup final.  Hope we get the same level of entertainment.

Sevilla tearing Real Madrid apart and RM are very lucky to have avoided a second yellow on Camavingas tackle that took Martial out of the game.

Three touches at the edge of the six for Benzema. That’s solid defending.

Imagine how good he’ll be when his hand heals.
