lol - United are a ****ing joke

I did it!
What the ****?! I guess me turning off the game and leaving for dinner early was the catalyst.

My neighbor was so upset with United he turned it off and went for a walk. His son - away at college - called him with the good news while he was out storming around our neighborhood.

After the penalty I turned it off - had stuff to do and then saw the score. It’s false hope, IMO but it is a pretty big deal to miss out on Europe altogether so it was good to see they battled back.

"It's the hope that kills you"

They have Wolves and Bournemouth before Bilbao, and Brentford in between the two legs. It's Europa or bust.

@Desert_Power how did Charlotte, of all places in the US, end up with an atmosphere that most closely resembles a good Argentinian league atmosphere?

I think that the club has done a good job engaging with the sets of supporters clubs that sprung up in advance of the team actually being there. So you have a large group of supporters sections that surely have more people than seats in them and things kinda emanate from there. They all tailgate together in a big gravel lot and march in.

There is a large Hispanic influence on it too. The stadium has always been packed and crazy when Mexico is here and was ridiculous in the Copa America for Colombia as well.

Wrexham up 2-0 over Blackpool and Wycombe getting pumped 4-0 by a surging Charlton as the seesaw battle for the second automatic promotion spot goes back in Wrexham's favor.
Big goal differential movement, too. That had been in Wycombe's favor for a long time but now Wrexham are +1 over Wycombe on the six goal swing today (if all holds, still about 7-10 minutes left.)

Well, this weekend went as expected for United after Thursday's fireworks. Lose 1-0 on Wolves only shot on target (I think). Excellent free kick, well taken for the goal.

On the plus, Fredrickson and Amass looked good on the left side. Glad to see them get a chance. Would liked to have seen Obi play more, even start.
Now a week off before Bournemouth then on to Bilbao.

this time, just put 'Arry up front from the beginning.

He seems to be what they wanted :fro: to be. Route 1 Plan B.

If the Burnley result holds, both Leeds and Burnley will earn promotion to the Premier League today.
Interesting season. No real relegation battle from the EPL or title challenge with 5 matches left. West Ham need 1 point to confirm staying up and they still have both Tottenham and United to play.
Top 2 in the Championship confirmed early.

Middlesbrough play Coventry in the last week of the season. Right now, Coventry are in the last playoff spot, 3 points up on Middlesbrough. However, Middlesbrough have a large GD advantage. If they both win their next game, you could be looking at a head to head match in the final week to decide who gets that last spot.

City jumps to 3rd with a 2-1 win over Villa, hurting Villa's top 4 chances (they are firmly in 7th)

3rd through 7th separated by 4 points, its anyone's race for CL

Leyton Orient takes the lead on Wycombe. Watched most of this and it’s been the ugliest match I’ve watched in years. If this result holds and Wrexham win later today they are promoted.

I'd think they'll have little trouble staying up since they'll have serious resources, but I bet it takes them a long time to threaten promotion out of the Championship -- if ever. The jump in quality bottom to top of the 2nd division is enormous.

Agreed. I think their focus has to be on staying up as opposed to getting to the EPL this season. Amazing accomplishment already though.

I’ve wondered if they got to the Championship if they would bring on other investors. Even if they do it’s no guarantee they will move up again. It will be a success next year if they comfortably stay up.

I feel a little bit for these players though. Starters in League One might be bench or surplus in the Championship.

The wild card is if they're able to generate worldwide merch and other ancillary sales numbers that allow them to spend huge right away.

And I forget what the timing is for end-state stadium plans, but the sky's the limit if they really get it built out to 55k and are able to fill it.

a) they are already at the stage where international revenue makes up a huge percentage of their finances
b) 55k? There's not even that many people living in Wrexham proper. They have a theoretical large catchment area in terms of size, but nobody lives there, and those that do either already follow their own clubs (mainly red/blue in the nearest proper city), egg chasing, or both. Would guess that a sustainable average would be low 20k on the assumption they were to become an established Championship outfit. Believe it or not, nobody here is interested in watching Wrexham on account of the TV show outside of part time glory hunters who had a passing interest already.
