šŸŽ *OFFICIAL 2022 Horse Racing Extravaganza Traveling Road Show Thread - Life Gettin' Better At Big Sandy* šŸŽ (1 Viewer)

A quick glimpse at the forecast looks dry and high of 97 šŸ˜³

major heat wave hitting the midAtlantic this weekend - currently 55 & drizzling here rn, but forecast is for low 90s on both Saturday & Sunday.Ā

feels like it hasn't been that warm since last summerĀ

time to crank the AC, put the brews on ice ... and let the ponies do the work - i hit a nice Preak ticket in '19 with War of Will as my key - im'ma let EV do the heavy lifting this time around.Ā

i go as he goes.Ā

Any angles for horses running better in the heat?Ā  Either directly or by breed lines?

Thanks for all the good stuff!

Black Suzie/Preek Dub

gonna shorten up here, playing to a single of EV tomorrow.Ā

BES:

#6 Luna BelleĀ

hometown grrrl makes good, 5 straight in state stakes wins, destroying them at Laurel.Ā  step up in class today, but this field is nowhere near as deep as the Oaks was - VERY LIVE at 9/2 ml.

and, right next to her:

#7 Distinctlypossible

lightly raced daughter of Curlin, this will only be her second start this year (2 starts as a 2 yr old, 2nd in both - at the Spa & Keeneland).

coming off a nice 100k msw at Keeneland, where she had early bumping trouble, but straightened herself out for an impressive score.Ā

this one is carrying my Chad Brown double banner ... and i get Irad, to boot.Ā

Suze-Preek Dub: 6,7/5Ā

play responsibly, fellas.Ā

one big advantage of being on site at the track is seeing the flesh in person ... spying if any of the horses are washed out prior to - now, this can happen in all sorts of weather, but on a blazer like tomorrow, it will be more pronounced.

race like the Preakness will have enough coverage where we'll likely get to see hints of that on TeeVee, but good luck getting last minute bets in as per that peripheral - with the sched i have tmrw i need to have my wagers plunked by 3 p.m., so ... if EV shows up in the post parade foamy as a toddler's bath time rubber ducky, i'm kinda ####ed.Ā

bigly.Ā

REVISED!

... not letting ####### Prat (w/Motion) beat me from the rail, and my cappin' buddy is all over the 12.Ā

YA GOTTA BE FLEXIBLEĀ

that Black Suzie is wiiiide open, man ... i can land on 7 potential winners, but we'll ride with those 4.

Well, Iā€™m 0-2 at Pimlico so far today . Iā€™ll post the next one for fade purposes lolĀ

money back special all day today and tomorrow on tvg fyiĀ

money back special all day today and tomorrow on tvg fyiĀ

yeah, $10 if your choice comes in 2nd or 3rd.Ā

caveat is it has to be at least an 8 horse field to get all the way to 3rd place rebate ... 7 horse fields and under only refund the $10 to 2nd place, no dice on 3rd.Ā

9,10,11,1 in the Suze.Ā

Geroux/Cox holding off the fave in the stretch.Ā

rip up the dub.Ā

see ya tmrw.Ā

I threw $10 on Creative Minister to win tomorrow as well as $10 on Secret Oath to win. I know itā€™s dumb because they are essentially competing bets but oh well.Ā

looking at the will pays for the Suze/Preek dub:

Epi 47

EV 101

Oath 107

Simp 171

CM 209

Skip 482

Army 742

Jack 982

Fenny 1,214

... no surprises there, we got an overwhelming fave, will probably go off in the 3/5 range come post time.Ā

taking a look at the pace #s, did this prior to the Derby, and, yep - Rich Strike was in the top 3 for closing ...

EARLY PACE:

EV 126

Epi 115

Army 113

CM 99

Skip 99

Fenny 97

Simp 88

Oath 88

Jack 88

LATE PACE:

Oath 107

Simp 102

Jack 102

Skip 89

Epi 87

CM 80

Army 78

EV 72

Fenny 70

- only 2 in the top 5 of both are EV & ol' Skippy ... there ya go. latter's last 2 outings have been 2 turn affairs, and it does appear the light has switched on for this one accordingly.Ā

- the track was kind to speed yesterday, but off the pace types had a very fair shake ... not deep closers, mind you, but stalkers had their moments. there should be a tight pack behind the engine today, nobody's coming from the clouds.Ā

- EV's late pace fig is atrocious, and even in his Withers romp he appeared to get bored in the stretch ... kinda loafing and a bit goofy.Ā  was also loose in the Wood, then Mo nipped his ### - i think he'll have company today, time for him to look another in the eye and finish ... believe in his freshness, he has zero excuses - if he fires, he is the assured leader hitting the stretch, i trust in Brown having this one fit as #### - he's the most rested, and has the easiest path/gameplan - FIRE, AND STAY AHEAD.

that being said ... all things being equal, Epi should have no problem taking this down - but they're not, so who knows?

best of luck to all!Ā

:deadhorse:

Preakless - kind of a sad field

W - Simplification.Ā This is a pick against, really. Epi should be 1-5 against this field except for one thing - his Derby run was the picture of a bounce race. He stalked a fast pace, made a handy lead then got passed. kinda race young horses do the opposite of improving from. EV could steal it, but i think the Wood was a waaaay false fig and notBaffert will have Armangnac ballsout after him up front. Made a LOT of dough on Lukas fillies against boys backinaday, but they all had early foot which made colts stalk the sniff. This'n dont have that. So the horse with the Derby onceover takes it.

LS - Fenwick. gotta pick one after that derby, right?!

just piggybacking here ...

Epi's fractions got gradually slower with each click in the Derby, whereas Mo/Simp/Zandy (in that order) had the best final 3f, and ran the best clicks coming homeĀ  (outside of Richy, of course).Ā

one caveat on Army today ... he has run 5 races - 2 wins on the lead, 3 also-rans while chasing - his 2 wins were with lasix, which he will not have today.Ā

he will press EV, along with Fenny ... but i really think EV needs that to stay within himself today - they ain't running him off this track, they just don't have the suicidal speed of the UAE knobs from the Derby.Ā

Ā WillĀ pays for the Susan/Preakness double:

Epi 47

EV 101

Oath 107

Simp 171

CM 209

Skip 482

Army 742

Jack 982

14.20 winner with a $47 DD should pay about $6.00 on the favorite? Seems like the DDs are somewhat of an overlay.

Yeah, I think itā€™s Epicenterā€™s day today

I will be throwing some $ at Skippy though. Saffie Joseph is no joke

I've lost money before betting chalks like him. I'll take a shot with someone else where I will at least get a payout if I win.Ā šŸŽÆ šŸ‡

Capping Buddy In ...

$5 Tri Key Box:

1 w/2,4,8,9

$180 layout

playing contrarian to me again, he is adamant that EV "folds like a Walmart card table in the stretch".Ā

LOVES Simp picking up Johnny V, after Jose O hopped on EV.Ā

by the by ... i've heard that phrase used in many different sporting scenarios - to wit, wouldn't a cheaply made card table be more difficult to fold than, say, one of the more hoity ilk?

PIMLICO RACE 4 - MARYLAND SPRINT

all over the #2 here, if he runs his race it's the best of this lot.Ā

dippin' the toes - hot down thar šŸ”„

btw, track is playing extremely well for the controlling speed thus far on the 3 dirt races - surface is souped the #### up.Ā

long way to go for the Preak, but EV is flattered by this early bias ... you gotta be forwardly placed or you're shining shoes.Ā

6F sprint here, who da speed?

First weekend here with no rain so I need to be working on my fishing boat to get it in the water tomorrow.Ā  Ā Not much time for golf or horses today.

8th race 2,4,5 exacta box.

Don't see Epicenter losing today, so I've got a bunch of tris and a couple superfectas going.Ā Ā

RACE 9

1/5,7,9 tri keyboxĀ

Joel/Assman are hot today (#1), and they'll give Paco & Pomp company on the front.

track is playing to this combo thus far, so, #### it ... let it ride.Ā

btw, keep coin on hand to EMPTY on #1 Ethereal Road in the Sir Barton (11th race) ... Lukas scratched this foo' from the Derby, allowing Rich Strike in, and ... well.Ā  ya know.Ā

KARMA, BRING THE KARMA.Ā

Assman has been the track feed's favorite interview.Ā  Seems like a nice guy.

Alright so went ahead an put my bets in.

Hopefully I don't jinx otb :scared:

$10 win on #5 (got the cash back promo if the 5 comes home 2nd or 3rd)

$2 place on #5

$2 show on #5

$1 ex box 1-2-5-8 ($12)

$0.50 tri box 1-2-5-8 ($12)

Then I had to do a couple gray horse bets:

$2 win on #2

$1 ex box 2-3

:deadhorse:

Good luck folks :)

I'm thinking a $1 triactor of 8-All-All would cost $56.Ā  But I'm not sure if it would just be better to put $56 on 8 to win?

Iā€™ve mentioned before that the stupid state I live in, Arizona, doesnā€™t let you bet on Monarch tracks because of some dumb, convoluted dispute I wonā€™t rehash. This means I canā€™t legally bet on (for example) Santa Anita or Pimlico. Last year they let us bet the Preakness (in person only if I remember correctly) at the last minute. So, I just went down to the OTB and apparently that didnā€™t happen this year. I withdrew cash for no reason. And I canā€™t bet the stupid Preakness. Arizona is so mind-boggingly stupid sometimes I canā€™t even wrap my ahead around it.
