🐴 *** 2023 Aniscule Thread *** 🇮🇹 Ha Vinto Il Cavallo Di Mio Cugina - ARCANGELO! 🇮🇹 🐴 (1 Viewer)

i just came in here late to say the fox belmont coverage was hideous. i couldn’t hear the race call. they never talked about forte after the race and took 71 commercials before they posted payouts, failing to mention that the exotics seemed to be $1 bets. it was up and down so fast, i had no idea.

Curt Menefee continues to be the epitome of wallpaper with a microphone - dude are nothing if not simply just "there" ... next time he actually enhances coverage of any of the events he's overseeing will be the first - he's not a fit for this sport, so eff Fox for that.

i, for one, really enjoyed hearing the sounds of the horses running - the pounding hooves, the nostril snorts, etc ... yeah, they needed to mix the feed better to have Durkin more pronounced, of course - but he were struggling a bit, too ... all-time great racecaller, but he's showing the advanced age now - sounded as if he were laboring and a bit short of breath - were a blast hearing him again, tho ... but Fox muffed the sound board here, agreed on that point.

as far as posting the payouts - jeez, that's long been a nitpick of mine with these "network" event days ... hell, there were times NBC never showed the payout at all - it's like these f****** dopes forget that the gig are predicated on that facet - WE ARE BETTING ON THE RACE, NUMB NUTZ, IT'S WHY WE HERE.

they always seem to miss that memo 🤔

DOWN GOES KINGY!

oooof.

nipped at the wire by 5/2 second choice Salute the Stars, who were momentarily left behind at the gate, spotted the leaders about 5 lengths, were rank under Joel the whole way ... then made a cloud close on the prohib fave in deep stretch after said prohib fave (Kingy) put away the #6 horse.

they went at a reasonable pace, nothing earth shattering, and Kingy rated the whole way 'til he upped it top of stretch ... but, man, were he easily run down by StS.

Kingy went off at 1/2, fwiw.

IRAD DOIN' IRAD THINGS

in yesterday's NY Stallion Stakes - The Spectacular Bid

horse is left virtually standing still at the gate - Imbriale never calls the hiccup, but does allow that Ramblin' Wreck is "trailing the field ... "

the stretch run speaks for itself - much the best after that horrible start - one of the greatest rallies i've ever seen ... came the final panel in 11.3

Irad hitting at 38% win thus far this meet, and ITM a ridic 53%.

🐎

Saffie reinstated, will saddle a couple up this weekend at Belmont, and has been granted stall privileges for the upcoming meet at the Spa (starts 7/13).

meanwhile, Toddfather is in the midst of a 14 day sit, and a whopping 2k fine 😄 for continued "overmedicating" malfeasance ... they really took the hammer to him, eh?

🤔

BULLRING DERBY ALERT

we look towards Thistledown today, for the storied Eh-high-yuh Derby ... and the return of my KDerby darling, Two Phil's.

the field (sponsored by Modelo Especial):

  1. Henry Q (Kendrick Carmouche, Doug O’Neill) 5-1
  2. Timesatappin (Kevin Gonzalez, Lori Loudin-Smith) 30-1
  3. Bishops Bay (Florent Geroux, Brad Cox) 3-1
  4. Two Phil’s (Jareth Loveberry, Larry Rivelli) 8-5
  5. Agnello’s Dream (Erik Barbaran, Jeffrey Skerrett) 20-1
  6. Last Cookie (Leandro Briceno, Johanna Urieta) 30-1
  7. Lord Miles (Edgard Zayas, Saffie Joseph) 7-2
  8. Hayes Strike (Cristian Torres, Ken McPeek) 6-1

not exactly a murderers row lined up here, as all the A team types are settin' their sights on Monmouth/the Spa/Del Mar ... but ol' 2P's have not been out since the first Saturday in May, and Rivelli's plan all along were to get his tootsies wet again in one of these lower graded shim fests.

so here we are.

2P's will be without regular pilot Jareth Loveberry, as the jock were injured this week by a horse who stumbled over him - escaped major harm, but won't be riding.

that puts fellow bullring knockaround Gerardo Corrales in the irons, instead ... hoping he can be as suavé as JL, que rico!

i think this leads to Bishops Bay maybe taking moar money today, and drifting down to just about even with 2P's ... last out for BB were the Peter Pan, where he defeated eventual Belmont winner Arcangelo ... until Arcangelo said nahhh, we good! and re-rallied again to shut that s*** down toot sweet.

BB will likely get out and try to wire this mutha ... 2P's gotta sit chilled on his arse - he (2P's) are the better router, and is the faster animal ... plus them Hard Spun colts love to dig in.

horse i'm looking at to make some stretch noise are the #8 Hayes Strike ... if BB gets out hot, we know 2P's can last - as evidenced in Louisville - but this Hayes kid has some deep close chops, which are very bankable if this chit gets warm ... see here down at Lone Star in the Texas Derby.

hell, they weren't even tearing it up pace-wise, yet this nutbar still closed so much ground in deep stretch ... just a tremendous bit of effort outta him.

he goodt.

oh, and Lord Myles? welp, he are the wildcard of this lot ... dunno how stringent they are in the barns over there, but Saffie returns with a stakes winner looking to get up off the mat ... your guess are as good as mine.

looking forward to it, 2P's done my keybox justice in the KDerby, and i love the sumbisch ... very much.

2P's Won For Fun

(running starts at 1:50 mark).

... and i'll add that his 3 race string of Ruby/KDerby/ODerby are the most impressive of this crop in '23 - he's cookin'

remember, he attended the whole COTdamn way around in Louisville ... while the others on the engine faded easily (hello, Kingy!) from that brisk pace, 2P's were right there in deep stretch 'til Mage got him ... 2P's arguably ran the best race that day - kid's a freakin' monster.

he were 3/5 yesterday for a reason, and he did not disappoint ... when you're tabbed like that you need to go out and prove worthy - well, he did that, and then some - no questions left unanswered.

periodt.

much like the Ruby, once he made his move it were lights out ... he rated beautifully yesterday - keeping the first flight well within striking distance - his cruising speed are exceptional, prolly tops of this current lot.

i believe he's gonna crush the back end of this szn, and will take top honors from this crop - Haskell and then the Travers are on the docket, and this fella is primed and firing like a boss ... he's the one to beat. anything over even money will be a gift.

interesting sidenote yesterday ... Rivelli/Gerardo won all 3 of the stakes they enetered at Thistledown - Loveberry missed a huge payday ... but, to Rivelli's great credit, he knew Loveberry were on ice last Thursday, but did not phone in any of the top jox ... he immediately turned to a fellow grinder, much like himself and Jareth ... gotta love it.

next stop ... OCEANPORT!

🐎

ETA: ol' Hayes Strike done fid his thing, too ... freak closer, that one.

4,6,7/2,4/2,3,6/6

$9.00 outlay

#3 still sittin' at 12/1 - wonder if the late syndicate coin fobs it.

🤔
Why does Monmouth not show the splits?

I felt like she needed a break in the 2nd n 3rd quarters

Bastards

Paco on the chalk, tho

f****** clockwork.

the #3 look unhurried and fresh ... jock were up in the irons at the half ... she just ain't gonna cut it as a router.
