Ellis 6 is a money back special race on tvg

#8 Pass Line

In his first race a few weeks ago he took some $ , went off at 9-1 from a 20-1 ml. On the replay it looked like he checked pretty good before the 1/2 mile mark but there’s no note of it

I’ve had some luck before with horses coming up to MSW from Maiden claiming which he’s doing today

He’s had one work since the last race, it was a “meh” 50n3 for 4f

20/1 ml again today, but I know I’m but getting that

$10 win

shoulda covered that #5 after bucking the chalk in first leg.
I was thinking that before the race lol

this #5 coming up next tace has burned a TON of coin as chalk previously ... the race are an MSW, so she kinda fits here because she's been out three times in similar class.

but, man, she has underwhelmed.

that's why i looked at the #1 and #2 here ... the latter a first time starter, so we could see fireworks.

Hey, Cowboys!

I couldn't even find the wheel to steer you in a direction when it comes to the horses.

Even then, in the games of chance (or skill) that I like, I'm as likely to be found under a rock as picking a winner. I'm a walking Murphy's Law.

Lol I feel your pain !

I hope you are well

BELMONT 8th

So Churchill Downs just extended Baffert's suspension through 2024. What a freakin' joke. I know his appeal was denied before but he should be able to sue them for this extension. I think he's strictly a sacrificial lamb to say they take horse medication and fatalities seriously after they've had umpteen breakdowns and fatalities causing their precious meet to move to Ellis Park. Baffert's not even on the grounds - so who you going to pin the blame on now, Churchill? Who caused all of these other deaths? This is a witch hunt of the highest order.

CDI has extended the suspension due to Bobbo pedaling a "false narrative" about the situation involving Medina Spirit - "WE DON'T LIKE HIS OPINION, SO HE GONE!!!1!"

welcome to Western society, circa 2023 - Orwell were a prophet.

all that said, i did agree with the initial discipline, and, no ... he certainly aren't the only crooked mo' out there, so plz, dear readers, put down yer crayons.

they went after the hugest pelt, had sufficient ammo, and bagged it - simple as that.

still, this extension are ludicrous, but, given the current "speech" climate, not surprising ... sad, but not surprising.

btw, Saffie were reinstated across the bored - so they apparently do cede an inch when they realize the f*** ups ... but Bobbo SPOKE his mind - can't have that, hell no.

They should worship the ground he walks on. He brought star power to a dying sport. And great stock. Kentucky Derbies would be way less exciting without Baffert story lines and entries. I’m in So Cal and have been following racing for 40+ years. Baffert has good vets like he does everything else. But he’s not even in the conversation re top milkshakers here, let alone around the country. He served the sentence they originally announced. Then they changed their mind. There were no other infractions. The public should be outraged.

The public should be outraged.

I think they are, but for reasons entirely tied to Baffert's malfeasance and doping of the horses. People are outraged over horse deaths and what they view as equine abuse. This is in response to that very real pressure coming from other quarters. You live here in SoCal, right? They always have protestors now at the Santa Ana track, don't they? Forget the loons, it's the general public. The public is not on the sport's side these days, it seems.

Sorry to be a wet blanket or a limp noodle, but this is like when an NFL player beats up a woman or kills himself because of CTE. Everybody in the sport and its fans are asked to apologize for the deed, and the sport suffers and overreactions are had. Well, besides that lady that saw me watching the Ray Rice video on the train, nodded approvingly, leaned in, and said "sometimes you just gotta hit a *****," jabbing her finger in the air to make her point. But those people are few and far between in this world.

A few come after the sport itself. First, it's the influential, then it's the public.

They're coming after horse racing. Be very wary of those that contribute to any mistreatment of the animals.

the slippery slope here with Bobbo, tho, are the fact that CDI decided to extend the suspension simply due to the ruling entity having issue with Bobbo spreading "misinformation" about the original discipline.

slapping his wrists further, after time served, as if he were some recalcitrant 4 yr old who denied munching the cookie - it's "thought" legislation, plain and simple.

could they view it as him being remorseless? or oblivious? or "above the law"? i guess, but the fact that there exists a whole new plethora of punishment for his free speech are troubling.

if an NFL player are suspended for 6 games due to criminal infractions, yet espouses his innocence ... do they tack on more?

doesn't even need to be criminal ... Brady did his 4 games for Deflategate, was adamant about his innocence, but reinstated anyway - there weren't time tacked on because he spun a different narrative.

again, the ponies game are rife with bad actors - we all know this - if there are justification for lengthy suspension, bring it - don't think there are much to debate there ... but this latest addendum with Bobbo are a kettle o'fish that troubles me.

that's where we at.

but this latest addendum with Bobbo are a kettle o'fish that troubles me

Fair enough. I have nothing really to debate. I just wanted to present a line of thought that is probably first and foremost on the punishers' minds. I don't know how I'd handle it, that's for sure. Horse racing has a tough sell these days. It asks one to do two conflicting things, it seems. It asks people to revere the horses as almost these mythological spirits, yet asks that we don't give modern Western protections to that spirit. Some people have a really tough time wrapping their heads around it, because to them animal welfare and human decency are synonymous. There is very little "God gave us the creatures to do with as we see fit" and also very little "There is no God so who cares?" It's a middling pantheism that de Tocqueville saw in Americans, and he warned of it and against it.

And I get it. Heck, it's hard to envision horses as mere animals. Dostoyevsky and Nietzsche both either proved their point about cruelty (Dostoyevsky) or literally broke down (Nietzsche) from watching horses getting whipped to death in the streets by cruel masters.

So it's a tender line I think they have to walk, and Baffert saying his suspension was some sort of woke conspiracy doesn't really fly with the heads of the sport when the activists and certain portions of the public are amped to the gills to see restrictions or outright abolition of something they find anathema to their ethic.

But you also know that, and I see what you're saying. If a man can't speak his mind, however incorrectly, then what are we really doing here?

PETA has been the only ones protesting at the track and sorry - they are loons. Horse deaths - I get it. They have to figure out a way to limit them. It’ll never be eradicated. But if Churchill didn’t have a rash of horse deaths (none having anything to do with Baffert) do you think they would have done this? Or is it to try and look like they are taking a tough stance on others since their own recent record is so bad? Put the spotlight on Baffert, take it away from the safety of your surface. It’s like an episode of West Wing. Crisis PR101. It’s double jeopardy if you ask me. I’ve never seen a board or commissioner in any sport rule on a punishment, have no other infraction occur then say “sorry - we changed our mind and are tacking on more time”. Or do you have examples of this?

Wearing my lawyer hat instead of the panama that I wear to the track...

Baffert's original suspension included the qualification that it would be lifted "pending review." Apparently the powers that be at Churchill used that clause to extend the suspension. He's still got a lawsuit pending against CDI in federal court, so lifting the suspension would potentially have been an admission that their review was complete and the initial suspension was sufficient. I imagine if he'd drop the lawsuit, the review would come to a different result. They're using it as leverage.

Thanks for the insight fish. I was gonna ask if there was any sort of application for reinstatement as part of the process similar to what the NFL does for players that get an indefinite suspension.
