Soooo.... what are they saying? Don't offer public condolences? After Col. Springs they were in trouble for not offering sympathy for the victims. Now they're in trouble for offering sympathy for the victims. Ok.

They didn't say anything over Colorado Springs because the shooting was at Planned Parenthood, which made it a harder political issue for them.

Well I could understand slamming them for silence in the first instance (though it's a close call whether that's worse or condolences followed close behind with 'protect planned parenthood!' or 'gun control!', or whatever the political theme is that will help fundraising) but it seems kind of weird or sad or kind of sick to slam someone for offering condolences here.

I also didn't understand the lack of attention paid to the victims in Col. Springs. Cop, mother, vet, heroes all, there were fundraising pages for them. Did any candidates or politicians step forward for them?

I guess it remains to be seen how relevant the shooters religion is or isn't to the motive. sometimes like in the PP shooting it was, usually it isn't. Certainly when we hear a Muslim it very frequently is. This one feels different to me.

My summary: the vast majority of mass shooters are motivated by extreme religious beliefs.
