The primary point of the article stands... There are studies on both sides and I've been down this road of swapping studies that interpret different data sets in different ways. I have no desire to go down that road again. Bottom line of my post stands, however.

I have been to this regional center.

Just in case you don't know what the regional center is. It is a non profit that helps people with developmental disabilities. They treat a lot of children with autism. downs and asbergers etc. Most times for free.

So in case you weren't angry enough these people shot up a building full of disabled kids, specifically killing people who help disabled kids.

You know it is always weird when you were at a spot where something like this has happened. I used to drive through the Reginald Denny intersection, I had been in the twin towers, this one is too much.

You always think what would you do if you were there?

Regional center surprisingly is a very secure facility. It has many one way doors and none that will let you directly out without a passcode. This is due to the nature of dealing with disabled adults and kids. Many autistic kids will elope. They just take off. Some adults will just wander off if not contained.

The only reason that guy got in there was he was an employee, it would have been extremely difficult for anyone to get out. Impossible if you were there for treatment and didn't have a card.

His company was having a holiday party there, as of now the only people targeted that we know of are those that were at that party. The party was for County personnel that had rented out the room. They are still douchebags of the highest level but they didn't target those that help the disabled.

My understanding is the party was for health department people. Regional center is DDS which is part of the health department.

You just perfectly described a house some of my friends and I had in college. The guy who rented it rarely actually lived there and instead crashed on the fraternity couch. We used the garage to build all sorts of stuff, mainly for sorority philanthropy events. We built a dune buggy once, a pumpkin launcher, countless stupid floats for parades, a trebuchet to launch a watermelon etc.

During the summer time up here people actually put screens over their Garage openings so they have a "screened in Porch" to hang out in to drink/party/hang out away from bugs.. when it gets later, they'll take down the screen and close the door so as to cut down on the noise..

I've been around guns my whole life. I took a CCL class with people who hadn't ever touched one. At the end of the class (about 8 hours later) we were both eligible for our license.

I am not comfortable with the idea that some of those people are likely carrying today.

Tips if you ever confronted with a terrorist in the building you work.

1. Try and find an escape route. This seems obvious but those big red exit signs come in very handy when you and almost everyone around you is panicking and lost their minds.

2. If you cannot get out of the building find a hiding spot like your office and try to lock the door. If the door will not lock try to put something in front of the door or use your belt and tie it around the door hinge especially if there is a big one above the door.

3. Hide under a desk

4. If you cannot hide or your hideout is being busted thru you must grab a pair of scissors and be ready to fight whatever comes thru that door. Stab them in the arm, neck, eyes whatever it takes until help arrives.

I dunno I saw it on one of the overly caffeinated morning shows like GMA or Today.

And Icon that's why even though the party I was with kind of poked fun at me for reporting a couple suspicious folks at the Clevelander a week or so ago but later on in the night several retracted and said they simply never would be looking for that kind of activity. That's what these idiots plan on, that we won't react.

Shortly after 9/11 I was on a plane, one of the last times I have flown in the last 15 years and the uniformed crew member came on the intercom asking if (Insert Arabic Name) was on board. Everyone looking around and then relieved that nobody came forward and that nobody seemed to match that description. I was seated next to a Hollywood writer(no idea the name now) but he wrote and murmured next to me "Did Sheik's luggage make it on board?" and that was enough and I asked the lady to come back to our row immediately and got her involved in the the thinking. Pilot heard and immediately stopped the plane, we stayed like that for a good 30-45 minutes until they could verify neither he nor his luggage was anywhere on that plane.

People are typically ridiculed for profiling or speaking out, I've started to get over that feeling and just be ready to verbally attack back anyone who who raises an eyebrow when anyone starts asking questions.

I really don't think gun-free or not gun-free makes a damn bit of difference. The fact that most of these events happen in gun-free zones is not a result of some careful selection by otherwise insane people, but is probably just because most public areas across the country happen to be "gun free zones," including the schools that seem to be most frequently targeted, so of course a large number of the targets will be gun free.

It's like claiming that spree killers are targeting no-smoking zones because many of the targets don't allow smoking, which is of course true because most schools, government buildings, office buildings and large indoor public spaces don't allow smoking and those are the places usually targeted. There's an obvious explanation of the correlation and zero evidence of causation.

It's perfectly fine to report suspicious behavior. But what is suspicious behavior? If one of the components to that behavior is the appearance of the person doing it (Middle Eastern in this discussion) then it's not fine.

In other words if you report a Middle Eastern looking person doing something you regard as suspicious, but would not report a white person that was doing the EXACT SAME THING, then you're acting in a bigoted manner, and it's not OK.

A guy interviewed last night was there and armed. He ran out when he heard the commotion and ended up hiding. He claims they drove past him and he pulled out his gun ,but decided not to shoot because he wasn't sure who was inside.

Tim you said 45% of GOP voters are a mix of the 3 things you listed. You make it sound like a fact and I'm pointing out the Left or DNC has their clowns as well. It's mind boggling for folks who tend to sway GOP and while labeled as such I am not, but GOP supporters before they even open their mouths are usually labeled a certain way by folks on the Left.You introduce to me a stranger and also divulge they are democrat, I don't instantly start hitting the talking points. But you introduce a Leftist to a stranger and mention they vote Republican, instant label of bigot. Now how is that fair? I remember in California when I was openly Republican how embarrassed my wife would get at functions when people discovered I didn't vote Democrat as the husband of a non profit profiteer.

I've been around guns my whole life. I took a CCL class with people who hadn't ever touched one. At the end of the class (about 8 hours later) we were both eligible for our license.

I am not comfortable with the idea that some of those people are likely carrying today.
