2009 DTV Sunday ticket and superfan deals (1 Viewer)

pretty sure I am just giving my buddy $50 for his super fan password and watching on the computer every week. This may change though depending on the deals they give.

Ordered ST, and they threw in Superfan.

Maybe leaving Directv, then I'm finding a bar and/or Online PW from a friend.

Is it that time again already? I swear that monthly charge just disappeared only two months ago...

I've had pretty good success in the past, but last year they would not give me SF (though I begged and pleaded) until I called back with an offer from the cable company in my hand. They even checked it out on their system to make sure it was legit.

Usually saying you'll move to Dish Network works?

I tell you, these prices are ridiculous! But they know we will continue to buy it! I wish they had at the very least a Division package to follow your own team? Im in NC and am a Rams fan, but $200+ is getting out of hand!

Please, someone post some deals on here. I may hang it up this year and switch to Dish?

i would like a division or team packagei think they have a weekly package, they just do not advertise it

When you call to barter, ask for customer retention right away. They are authorized to give discounts the normal CS agent can't. With persistance, you can get DTV to lower the price.

:( I just upgraded to Hi-Def so hopefully I can weasel something out of them.

Anyone know how it works if you have 2 TVs, one Hi-Def, on isn't? Do you get the ticket on both or just one?
If you just reupped for 2 years you might have problems getting anything out of them. You get the ticket on any box, my cousin has a box of mine 500 miles away and he got the ticket last year.

Your cousin has a box of yours 500 miles away and gets the ticket? Hmmm?? Please explain! PLEASE! LOL! I will try the same thing and go half if this works with someone else? :)

Wow you guys in the USA get hosed. I'm on Bell here in Canada and ST is $180. That's maybe $150 US. I certainly would never pay as much as you guys have to.

Serious Question:I buy ST for 2 satellite boxes each year. My bro-in-law who lives a couple of towns over also buys ST for 2 satellite boxes each year.

Is it possible for me to cancel my ST, have my bro-in-law add two additonal boxes on his account, and then I'd take those 2 boxes to my house. Can I just hook up my bro-in-law boxes on my dish? If this is possible, bam, instant 50% savings!!

I'm thinking about getting a sling box and getting a buddy in the local Bronco viewing area to broadcast to me. Certainly cheaper than ST.

I don't suppose there is any word on allowing Sunday Ticket to be bought on a weekly basis?

I finally cancelled last year. 8 weeks out of 17 I'm at a Texans game and get almost no use out of ST. So I was basically paying full price for a half-season's use. I just couldn't justify the cost anymore.

Keep hoping they'll do a weekly subscription again, like they did years ago.

wondering this too...guess u would just need basic @ one of the houses, just have a box or 2 with all the goods

HD was included with the baseball package this year, not on a separate super fan option like last year.

Will they do the same with the NFL this year?

I know a couple of guys who have done this for the past few seasons.

Interesting that if you go to Directv's website, you can order ST but it says that it is too early to order SuperFan.

:slams money on table:

I'm out.

11 year DTV & ST subscriber, $280.00 was the line in the sand. No begging or threats, just remove the programming.

DirecTV/ST pricing / ST

Moffett estimated that Sunday Ticket currently tackles about 2 million subscribers paying about $300 per season, for about $600 million in direct revenue annually. Moffett calculated indirect revenue -- from DirecTV monthly fees overall and DVR revenue, among other sources -- as being "perhaps 40% greater than direct subscription fees" to Sunday Ticket.

Considering an average price of $4 billion to $4.5 billion for the term of the four-year contract extension, Moffett wrote that "assuming a price increase from $300 to $350 for the 2 million current subscribers by 2011, and further assuming $80 monthly non-NFL monthly ARPU, DirecTV would need to acquire (or retain) about 400 to 450K incremental subscribers by 2012 who are solely attributable to the NFL Sunday Ticket package in order to break even on the contract."

so in other words, Direct TV bought a contract they cant' afford, so now we are going to get gouged in hopes that they can break even or make a profit? Great...

I know it works for regular programming so I assume it will work for the ST as wellA buddy of mine is a Redskins fan and has family that lives in the Washington DC area but he lives in NCHe has a box that is registered under the family account in DC. He gets the all the DC programming just fine on that box.

I don't see how it works when the box has to be plugged into a phone-jack?When DirecTv does their random check and the box isn't plugged in, it cuts off PPV and other "premium" services (at least it did for me a couple years back when my plug had accidentally come out)ORDoes only 1 box need to be plugged in (to the phone) if you have multiple boxes?

my boxes have never been hooked up to a phone line and i got ST last season w/ no problems. I don't have a land-based phone line in my house... atleast that's what i told DTV ;)

I do not have a phone line either. If I ordered PPV, which is never, I would order online. I do have a DVR but it is not a TiVo.

Called Directv today and asked to speak to a Premium Service Agent.

DTV Premium Service Rep (Tracey) - How can I help you?

BB2K3 - I would like to cancel the NFL Ticket.

Tracey - Sure, I can handle that for you. May I ask why you would like to drop the service?

BB2K3 - The price is just getting way out of hand.

Tracey - Ok Mr. Ball, please hold on.

BB2K3 - Umm, ok.

Tracey - Ok Mr. Ball, since you have been a long time customer of DTV and a subscriber of the NFL Ticket we would like to offer you the NFL Sunday Ticket & the Super Fan Package for $279.00 spread out over 5 monthly payments. Each month you will receive a credit for $20 on your bill, thus your cost for the NFL Ticket coming to a total of $179.00. Is this something you would be interested in?

BB2K3 - Umm, yeah

Tracey - Ok, Mr. Ball, please hold on while I update your account... Ok, everything has been changed. Anything else I can do for you?

BB2K3 - Nope

Tracey - Great, thank you for calling DTV.

This process took me about 15 minutes and I had to talk to a "regular" agent before they would transfer me to a premium agent.

My 2 year contract is up in August so they're giving me a deal or I'm movin to Dish Network. Won't be the same without the ST, but it's just getting too damn expensive. You also figure that most weekends, you're gonna see at least 3 local games between Fox and CBS, the NBC game and MNF, and then the NFLN starts showing games Thanksgiving. That's 6 games per week right there, and usually one of them is an Eagle game, which is all I care about anyway. I just can't justify paying that much anymore for the ST.

I did exactly this too - except the first person I got to was able to offer the deal, didn't have to ask for a "premium service agent". But this is great advice, they would rather offer you a deep discount than have you cancel. Their costs are already accounted for now it's just a matter of how many subscribers they could get.

I've had Directv for 10 years or so and I have never had the phone line plugged in. Just tell them you don't have a jack anywhere close to the receiver. Back in the day it wasn't a good idea to have the phone line plugged in. :goodposting: I've thought about plugging it in just to use the caller ID feature on the TV screen, just never have.I got the ST and superfan for an outrageous 39.99 after all the free stuff and credits they gave me last year. I will try again this year but I sooner or later they will shoot me down and I will have to cancel it. Although we get all the Packer and Lions games on cable where we live. Maybe someday the Lions will actually be good enough to watch the whole game...... but until then I'll keep trying to get a deal on the ST/SF.

Just called.

Said 'Cancel Service'

got transferred

Said I wanted to cancel. Sunday Ticket was getting too expensive.

Gave me free Super Fan and one-time $60 credit. That's all she could give me because I have all these other credits hitting my bill from last year.

That was enough for me to re-up for one more year.

just called, said cancel, deal I got

my ST cost- $224.95(5 payments of $44.99)

SF - free

$10 off my bill for 7 months

so the ST will cost me $159 this year- I am happy with this

ETA- called and got SF for free

Are you guys getting these ST deals having to sign or extend a contract? I'm currently outside of a contract and want to use that leverage to weasel another HD DVR out of them. Anybody had luck with that?
