1.3 is worth more than Mc coy and pick 21 IMO
Personal preference.I personally think young players in starting positions who were top picks last year hold more value than top picks this year who dont even have a TEAM, llet alone havent played a single down in the NFL yet.
They'll have teams in a few hours..But anyway, the bolded part of your statement is what I really want to touch on. I always have disliked this comment, but it really doesn't fit here. Similar to Knowshon Moreno, McCoy's value right now is lower than it was at this point last year, specifically because he *HAS* played a down in the NFL and people came away unimpressed.

Wouldn't you say that having never played a down in the NFL is better than having played in the NFL and looked bad? I'd much rather have an unknown as to how he will shape up in the NFL than to have a "known" that is below expectations.
:tumbleweed: Thats why values on Moreno and McCoy are all over the place. A lot of teams took those two at 1.1 and 1.4 last year. So they expect that a year later, as they are closer to the prime of their careers, that they should be worth at minimum that same pick in this years draft. The problem is they both underwhelmed last year. I would rather take my chances on Mathews or Spiller, who while they both could such big time, have yet to prove that they do at the NFL level.
With all of this being said what if Spiller and Mathews are 1st and 2nd drafted board is Dez better than McCoy? (league is ppr btw)

I think Dez is better than any of the WR's that came out last year. The character concerns are overblown I think. He would be my pick in just about any format at the 1.01. So yea if he made it to the 1.03 that would be a steal IMO.

Another trade popped up to discuss, you must really like rice, it was a sell low on holmes for sure. not sure where the first will fall next year since i cant see the squads, but have to say Team A received great value for rice. 4th round picks? how many teams?
12 team PPR. I guess I see Rice as one of the Elite Players, worth paying a premium for. I also had plenty of WR depth and an extra 2011 pick that will be bottom half 6-12. WRs left on my team: start 2-4 (Vincent Jackson, Robert Meachem, Steve Smith, Mike Wallace, Jeremy Maclin, James Hardy, Darius Heyward-Bey)RBs left om my team: start 1-3 (Matt Forte, Marshawn Lynch, Tashard Choice, Julius Jones)

You think 85 is worth more than 2.10?I would put him *max* at a 2.2 pick. The guy is 32 years old with a QB who can no longer throw the ball on a team which is quickly becoming run-first.As for Spiller/Matthews... we have no idea where they land, and that *has* to factor into things. I truly dont believe you can say with certainty how much value they have or don't have. McCoy is RB1 in an established WC offense that likes throwing to its RB, and he was the (on average) the 1.04 pick in last year's draft. 1.03 and 85 is about right.
I would put Ocho in the late 1st/early 2nd round value. If my team is a contender I would have no issue paying a late 1st for him, especially in this draft class. To me it makes more sense to say it would take McCoy and Ocho for me even consider dealing the 1.03, and I likely wouldn't even make that move. But thats what makes FF interesting. Some owners (myself, JohnnyU, others) think that McCoy is average and always will be. Others think he is worth the 1.03 and change.
I traded Ocho for Clausen during our rookie draft. Clausen was taken at 2.6, but in other drafts he might be late 1st/early 2nd.

You came away unimpressed, I came away thinking he's a kid who was only 21 years old and his blocking needs work.Give him time to mature a bit physically and adjust his skill set.

Everything I read on the kid said that he hit a rookie wall and damn near got McNabb killed on a couple of missed blocks, but Reid and Company still trust him with the starting role.

As I said earlier, I think people put way too much value on picks when you dont know where guys are even going to, let alone if their game transitions to the Big Time.

Philly drafted McCoy to be Westy's heir-apparent. I'm no Philly fan, but I do trust the judgement in the selection. Like I said... he's young. Give him time. Not everyone is an immediate Pro Bowler like ADP or 4.24. I still think he will be a low-end RB1, high-end RB2 PPR RB.

12 team PPR Keeper league-start and keep QB,2 RB, 2WR, TE, K, D also start FLEX(any position) but no FLEX keeper-Draft quirk:we can only draft to double the keepers.

C.Wells

Most times I try and be the guy getting the best player but that seems like a good deal for you. But I think Wells will be a stud.

That's a great haul for Rice, I would trade Rice for that any day of the week.

You're kind of contradicting your own point. You're basically saying that he should be rated ahead of those other guys because they haven't played a down yet, while at the same time saying we haven't seen what McCoy is capable of yet.At this point I don't see how McCoy's value can be any higher right now than it was at this point last year. He certainly hasn't impressed or shown flashes of an eventual superstar. AT BEST, he's a "maybe he'll develop into something good", which is basically where he was last year (although still with a chance that he'd come out and instantly impress, which is now gone). Which is basically the way you described him.

The only thing he has going for him now that's better than after he was drafted last year is that Westbrook is gone, but I think most people expected that at this point anyway.

ETA: And it's not like it was just me that was unimpressed with him in Moreno. That's the same way most people came away with what they saw of him last year.

In a 2 QB league, I'd actually like to be on the opposite side of both trades.

Pretty even. I like what Team A is getting a lot personally though. I'm not a Mendenhall believer and I think Matthews in SD is going to be great.

Are you in a league with Ray Rice's mother??

Yeah (just speaking of my rationale on why I just dealt him) but I drafted McCoy last year......watched him play plenty...came away unimpressed and with RB's...I know right away. I felt I could not pass up the opportunity to take a shot (as I did with McCoy 4th overall last year) at a combo of Dez, Spiller or Spiller, Matthews, or Matthews Dez...etc. I think McCoy is just as high a risk at this stage then the top rookie RB/WR prospects drafted last night and yet to be drafted tonight.

I can understand if your trading for proven veteran talent or elite skill players with a a year or maybe 2 under there belt. I think your over estimating McCoy's skills.

He was not impressive last year and was given every opportunity to shine. yes the Ol was nicked...etc...but I personally did not see anything to indicate he is stud material. Matthews and Spiller both have elite talent and IMO are in great situations. Lynch is a goner in Buffalo....and over the next 2 years Spiller will be a dynamic PPR playmaker. Speed kills and he not only has that but moves, stregnth, hands...sick talent. Matthews is a ready to start 3 down back right now. I did not feel that way about McCoy. I drafted McCoy because of his good skill set but great opportunity....I felt he showed me enough to deem him expendable now for better prospects and I rather roll the dice on potential Studs...then keep second tier talent.

I have been known in my leagues to trade picks a ton...because I do also like you think they are overvalued by many. But trading McCoy for picks.....I think will prove to be a good thing.

This league has been around since 1995 but RB's have traditionally been very difficult to acquire and if you want a top tier one you have to over pay. It's just how the value of players has developed over the years.

Still tremendous trade for you....your getting Wells who by all accounts looks like he will be a hass, Matthews and either Bryant or Spiller plus another 1st rounder next year to boot. You probably would have taken the deal if it just was Wells and the 1.1.
