Guess your seeing the differences in mind sets, one league valued vets over the top rookies while other took more of a gamble. Personally in startups I rather take solid vets over the rooks who always seem overvalued. Looks at guys like Floyd and Jeffery; not even drafted yet and I bet they were take super high last yr!!!Dez said:Why are the rookies being taken so late in the AFC ? 1st rookie at pick 76, 2nd rookie at 84 ?KellysHeroes said:the rookies are starting to be picked nowStarted as of 4pm Saturday

Doesn't really bother me. If anyone needs hints to remember Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, or Greg Jennings, I am not sure that they belong in the league. Agreed. The only obvious misstep I see so far was taking Gates over Martellus Bennett, Fred Davis, and maybe Housler and Dwayne Allen. And possibly a couple of the rookies, depending on how washed up you think Gates is. But they'll be available later.Damn good job. This one started Saturday morning, into the 11th round already. I didn't like the Stewart pick with Patterson, Hopkins and Rudolph still on the board. I would have skipped TE after Rudolph and focused on acquiring as many #1 type receivers as I could (Hunter, Hill, Quick, Randle). I would have grabbed Gonzo late if I had tAgreed. I was also wondering the same, is there another thread for startup dynasty drafts to be posted or are they mixed in with this thread? No more startups going on ?
I'm curious what folks think of the Follow Me team after 2013. I ask because I think it is terribly composed for the long haul, full of old guys. They also traded down multiple times to get a bunch of decent non-core players, and I don't think they got worthwhile value in doing so.Draft concluded. 1 PPR all positions, start 1-2-3-1-1-1 and 2 flex RWT.

My team (Fighting Couch Potatoes) traded 1st and 3rd round rookie picks for their 1st round rookie pick in both 2015 and 2016 because we see this roster in decline in 2014 and worse in 2015. We think giving up the 3rds will be a cheap cost if we can move from 9th-12th to 1st-4th in the 1st rounds of those drafts.
Any thoughts on their draft?
That team Follow Me is Mark Moyer's a high stakes fantasy player so I am guessing at $100 a season he really doesn't care much about that league or he is just trying to win now or maybe it is his 1st ever dynasty league. I didn't even know he played dynasty all I have ever seen him play was draft master type leagues where you just draft and your done with your team for the season. Trading out to 2016 seems a bit much I used to have leagues like that but I cut it down to 2 years max for future picks. We wanted two top-10 dyn QBs and because we pick back-to-back at the turn, that's when we felt we had to get both QBs unless we wanted to go old. Stafford I have at #7 and Wilson #9.
I didn't mean to get the thread off track and make it about my team, but my team mate and I were happy. We recognize we are thin at the flex spot -- drafting 11 of 22 position players who are 1st and 2nd year players will do that to you -- but the draft is a starting point, and getting young talent with upside puts us in position for better trades should we choose to do that, or just ride out the 1st year and let the kids grow into their production in the coming years.
Another point about the Follow Me team. He began with the 1.01 and had his choice of anyone, yet kept trading down until 3.01 to make his 1st pick. I thought I understood his strategy and that it might be OK until he started taking so many guys with 1-3 productive years left instead of a healthy mix of age and sure fire youth. In a league that requires starting 2 RB minimum, I don't know how he survives with only MJD and SJax as viable RB starters. And due to age of most of his best players, his trade ammo is pretty weak. To me this was a lesson in how NOT to draft a dynasty team, and he'll feel the pain soon enough. I'm thrilled to have his 2015 and 2016 1st rounders. And he won't bail on the league either since advance payment of those future league dues was required to trade the picks, and we both have made those payments.
Compared to the startups I have been in 2010-2012 that wasn't much trading really. In 1 of my leagues last year I made 25 trades and in other I made 20 trades and that is only during the draft or right before it started. It was interesting to follow Follow Me's draft. He made 11 trades during the 24 round draft, with all but one involving picks in this draft (the other being one of our swaps of future first rounders). I've never seen anyone do so much trading in a startup.
But the use of those picks seemed curious at best. Only 2 starting RBs, both old enough that they should fade quickly. Taking Hernandez, Witten, and Gonzalez suggests using TEs in both flex spots on a regular basis, at least as long as Gonzalez is playing (and playing well). Taking Steve Smith and Gonzalez at the 9/10 turn really cemented the age issue on the roster. Interestingly, those two picks were originally our picks, and we would not have considered either of those guys had we kept them.
Anyway, it was definitely a unique approach. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Did you ever trade completely out of the first two rounds? If so, how did your strategy differ from Follow Me's here?Compared to the startups I have been in 2010-2012 that wasn't much trading really. I thought about trading out of the 1st 2 rounds and loading up on 3rd/4th/5th round start up picks but never did that just kept trading to improve overall position.Did you ever trade completely out of the first two rounds? Totally agreed. I wouldn't consider anyone but Calvin at 1.01 in PPR, and I actually have Doug Martin as -clear- #1 RB in all formats (and would take him #1 in everything except PPR dynasty). T-Rich is my #5 RB and seems consistently #1. Boggles my mind that I seem to differ from consensus so much on RB rankings.all these leagues taking TRich at 1.01, I get hes only 21 but he had 2 minor knee ops last off-season; anyone worried about that? I Find it hard to not take Calvin at 1.01 in PPR
No rookies selected or even rookie draft slots. Seems unusual to have a draft this late and then have a separate rookie draft...12 team ppr somewhat heavy qb bonus for long touchdowns start 1/2-3/3-4wr +te/1k/1d no te required

16 team league and your starting 8 RB/WR/TE ? That seems crazy that would mean a total of 128 starting RB/WR/TE's most leagues start 7 x 12 = 84 total.started today - 16 team, 1 PPR, 4pt passing TD - 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1DEF, 2 flex (RB, WR, TE)

I agree on both counts. That's a crazy number of starters but it should make it kind of interesting...or at least different. I'm in enough 'standard' leagues already. And I am also shocked at where these rookies are going. Austin, Hopkins and Patterson before guys like Roddy White, Vincent Jackson, Decker, Bowe, Britt. And Bernard and Ball before Chris Johnson and MJD, or even Bush. I guess you could make a case for a couple of the picks, but come on....a couple of those guys are total crapshoots while there are still studs available..16 team league and your starting 8 RB/WR/TE ? Shocked to see how high the rookies are going most people felt those rookie picks would not be worth much this year.
I made my 12 team dynasty league I stated in 2010 with the same 2 RB/3 WR/1 TE + 2 Flex (1.25 TE PPR) and I love that format...I love it for 12 teams I don't think I would like it much for 16 teams especially with 1 PPR for TE. I think you should boost your TE to 1.5 to give you extra players to start...having to start 2 RB's in 16 teamer means RBs will be way overvalued while just having 16 teams is going to make QBs super valuable already.I agree on both counts.
